I fit a Dewalt cordless miter saw to the PSS, but this is to demonstrate how to fit most any miter saw. In this case, the PSS now works with both the Festool Kapex and Dewalt. thesmartwoodshop.com/rons-store
*Great saw **MyBest.Tools** with remarkable glide mechanism. Saw cuts very accurately with great repeatability. All adjustment levers are easy to access and operate.*
Perfect timing on this video! I bought the Dewalt 790 a few weeks ago and have been trying to decide on how to mount it with dead on accuracy. Problem solved, thanks to you! I think you're gonna like the saw quite a bit. Only two very minor critiques thus far. The light is awesome but you have to keep in mind that it becomes more accurate as you pull the blade down closer the board. You can adjust the light and I need to do so as mine seems to be about 1/32nd's off. The other is the weird sound it makes when using the AC adapter. I'm switching from a twenty year old DW708 so most any saw would seem awesome to me! Thanks again for the video.
Thanks Ron, I was hoping this video would come out soon. I'm getting ready to build the bench. Do you think it's worth constructing that saw opening another inch wider to account for the larger saw? Seems like it would be ideal if it were centered. I have the Milwaukee cordless, not sure if is as big as the dewalt. Thanks again
If we're not fitting two saws, wouldn't it be easier for us to mount the Dewalt saw so that it will be flush with the additional 18mm plywood and then make the actual extensions around the saw? That way you can cut the extensions a little long, press them up to the base of the saw, and then drill your 20mm holes?
Hey, thanks for all your work! Just downloaded your plan was about to Get going on both smart station and smart bench. Then i started thinking. Is there a reason why a miter saw such as the kapex couldn fit in the «craddle» way of thinking? The big advantage would be a clean bench. With the smart connectors it seems very doable making lenght support for material as well. Or is there a good reason not doing it this way?
Ron Great video, I am wondering why you stack 2 washers holding the saw fence in front of the flip stop bodies. I know you don't want the fence to go in front of them for sure, but wouldn't it help to have them perfectly in line with the fence being an extension of the fence, instead of behind? I wish that you explained why it is so critical in the video.
Are the current plans for the PSS updated with the Dewalt cordless Mitre and Table Saw dimensions? Also, do the current PSS plans show for the updated table saw cradle? If not, will that be a plan update available in the near future?
Looking back, would you rebuild the PSS for the Dewalt miter saw modifying the top, side, and/or spreaders to center the blade on the table? Or would you build it again with the original unmodified plans?
My primary saw is the Kapex so having both work on the same bench works best. If I were planning on having a second PSS, I could make it for the Dewalt and then make the Kapex work on it as well. Ron
@@TheSmartWoodshop I agree. But I think it would really help if you expanded on this- many think MDF is the go-to material. The movement under humidity is my major issue- what is your list?
