Cool man, I like the way you don't say; "You have to do this to make this work." Instead you say; "This is what worked for me, take it or leave it."

Super happy with the way it came out, thanks as always!

Do you think cutting up and drilling may have made the frame less sturdy? I see you a put a coyote in it and was wondering if you’ve ran into issues cause of all that raw power
@GrenadeMotorsports

Nearly 3yrs later and not one issue. Remember, it has "plates & brackets" everywhere. The QA1 stuff is TOP Quality stuff. This truck drives like a race car. Thanks for watching!

Did you have to remove the rivets that are on the bottom of the gas tank support cross beam? Also seems like the front hits a existing rivet at the front. Even with all that the rear seems to hang a bit low.
@GrenadeMotorsports
@GrenadeMotorsports Год назад
The kit I used for this truck was for the 67-72. I modified it to work. If there's a rivet in your way- grind it off! Thanks for watching!

How did you connect your steering column to the QA1 front steering kit(rack and pinion) ? Thanks
@GrenadeMotorsports
@GrenadeMotorsports 3 года назад
I used the stock intermediate shaft with a U joint welded on to the stock column. I had to make a sleeve but it was not a problem. There really wasn't a quick "off the shelf" option. It's as smooth as Tennessee Whisky. ;) Thanks for watching!

Hi, I am I'm building a 65 F100 and have installed (mocked up) front and rear QA1 conversion kits. All went off without a hitch. I'm at the point now where I'm awaiting to get my frame back from powder coat and am choosing brake kits. Now, the QA1 comes w/ 79 - 81 Camaro front spindles and my rear end is a Ford 9". Camaro lug wheels on the front and Ford 5.5" on 5 lug wheels on the back. Sounds awful to me. I'm stuck with the GM front spindles. Do you have any ideas on how to sort this all out? Custom axles?
@GrenadeMotorsports
@GrenadeMotorsports 2 года назад
Yes, we had the entire rear end rebuilt with Moser stuff and matched the rear lug pattern to the front. It's far easier to buy wheels when the patterns are the same. I suggest you do the same. Thanks for watching!

Had a bit of a question and haven't really found a good answer yet. With these QA1 kits (front and rear), are you able to get close to factory ride height? Strange question, since most people prefer to lower these old trucks but I bought my daughter a 70 F250, she loves the ride height but I'd like to improve steering and power delivery to the asphalt since the new engine will be 2-3x's more powerful than stock.
@GrenadeMotorsports
@GrenadeMotorsports 3 года назад
The reality is with these kits- you're losing at least 2-3 inches. These are performance kits based on speed and a lower CG. If you are after a stock look, rebuild everything brand new and add performance shocks & some big custom sway bars. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
@calicojack3340
@calicojack3340 3 года назад
Thanks! Would you recommend an IFS setup for the front or is there a better option to replace the twin i beam stock suspension that the 70 F250?

I purchased the rear QA1 kit for my 1970 F100. What axle housing setup do you use? I am looking for a Ford 9-inch, 31 spline, 3.73 gears. Any thoughts. Thank you for all that you do.
@GrenadeMotorsports
@GrenadeMotorsports 2 года назад
Your 1970 F100 probably has a ford 9" in it already. it must be altered slightly to use the qa1 kit- so your best bet is to take it to a proper driveline specialist and have the shock mounts removed and add whatever gear/axle set you want. It's not a "never done this before" kind of job. Best of luck!

I read in the comments that you said a Ford 9". Do have part numbers for that? I have to get a 3rd member also. I'd like it to bolt together without much complexity.

@@GrenadeMotorsports It is a Ford 9". So life's a little easier. Are the axles different sizes on the left and right for a 1970 Ford F100? I plan to purchase a 3rd member and 31 spline axles.

The front Wilwood Brake kit is a 79-81 Camaro. 140-12836-DR You'll need to chop off the stock cast caliper brackets from the QA1 spindles- but Wilwood explains in great detail where to cut them, in the brake kit. I used a cut off wheel on a grinder and in 30 min- I bolted the kit ON. The rears are Wilwood WIL-140-7140-DR but make sure your rear axles are the correct bolt pattern for your rims- We switched to Moser axles with the correct bolt pattern for our wheels. With Ford Rears- you must measure the backing plate bolt spacing to make sure you buy the right kit. See Wilwood website for more info on which FORD rear end you have. Thanks for watching!
