As an alternative to drilling, grinding the heads down flat with the surface of the arm, then punching them out should work, will try it when I come to do mine :)
Just got some new control arms for mine as ball joints and bushes need replacing went for the more expensive ones 2year guarantee as not going with the poly bushes. great video 👍
You don't need to load the suspension to torque up those bolts when you're using polybushes because they're non directional. It's good practice though.
Next time just use the angle grinder to rip off the rivets. All you need to do is to slowly grind the head of the rivet and push it off with a hammer. Took me less than 5 minutes.
Great job documenting it so others have a guide to follow. Did you consider getting a subframe to shot blast and paint, it only would have been a few more steps to fit whilst you did all this.
In hindsight I should have done because mine looks awful but I just never thought about it at the time 🙃 I’ll get one at some point as the control arms aren’t too hand to remove again
@@MendItModIt Should be easy to do because the subframe on these cars only supports the steering rack, gearbox and lower arms if i remember correctly. so it's not a massive pain to take it off.
Although your initial experience was very good regarding fitment, review again in 6 months to a year and see if they are still any good, awesome vid as per usual though and thoroughly enjoyed watching
Hey , great job on this mate. I would like to do exactly the same as what you have done here....... rather than me buying a top price lower arm, as the bushes are gonna be removed, would settling for a mid range price lower arm, be ok?? Cheers mate 👍
@@scottking942 I’ve seen some bad reviews too but like for the time I’ve had them I can’t fault them. I’ve heard that sometimes you can get a bad batch and some say that they wear out but like I said I’ve not had any problems myself so fingers crossed you have a good experience with them too 🤞🏻
