Professionally I work in electrical engineering, but my real passion is cars and all things DIY
MY FOCUS: relatable automotive DIY content
WHAT YOU WILL SEE: - Me (and my mates) working on cars, on axle stands, on our backs, on the driveway, in the rain... true DIY - real life solutions to things you WILL encounter when working on your own cars - A can-do attitude towards mends, mods and everything in between - Inspiration to "get on the tools", make your car your own and probably save yourself some money while you're at it
WHAT YOU WON'T SEE: - A financed BMW M140 that I absolutely cannot afford, built by a professional tuning company that I'll call "content"
I'm proud to say that I have vinyl wrapped my own MK6 Ford Fiesta ST150 and taken on a rebuild project on one of the most talked-about engines of recent times - the 1.0L Ecoboost 3 Cylinder Fox engine in my MK7 Fiesta.
@@nou-fg8wq paint won’t last 5 minutes and would look shit on the pillars I reckon. Could get the pillars done professionally but I wouldn’t, I’ll just have another go some time in the future
@@nou-fg8wq that’s what I’d do on the pillars, or get foam and fabric separately, it’s hard to shape the fabric to the contours of the pillars properly when the foam is part of the fabric. No worries mate, good luck 👍🏻
I have mk5 i suppose facelifted fiesta so ur st is the same i think.Im not sure if the original st roof spoiler ll fit but otherwise i ll buy some cheaper unpainted roof.
im searching for my first car, and have been seeing a good few mk6 fiestas. Are they cheap to insure? Are they a good first car? Im 17 btw so prepared for higher insurance
How have the B pillars held up against the seatbelt rubbing on the fabric, I've got my headlining and A pillars done but not sure how well the B pillars will hold against the constant rubbing from the belt? Cheers
From memory the OEM style ones came with bolts but I’ve checked the part number and it should be 1513401 That number may have been superseded but you should be able to use that to find what you’re looking for 🤞🏻👍🏻
I've just followed this video this morning and fitted cruise control to a 2014 Fiesta 1.0 Zetec (9 wires) and it works perfectly. As mentioned in some other comments, the most difficult part was getting the airbag out, but after that it was fairly easy. Thank you so much!
Good tutorial & explanation 👍. Say did you have to remove the alternator? What size tools did you use to do everything apart from the clip clamp, as I gotta do this too 😢😅. Thank you
Alternator is down the back on the ST so no you don’t need to touch the alternator. From memory most of the bolts for the thermostat were 8-10mm but it was a long time ago
Thanks so much for making this video! I’ve had the same problem with my 05 fiesta and knew it was the blower motor but never knew how to fix it myself, hopefully once ive got the money spare to buy the part I’ll be able to replace it before our summer starts.
Awesome video series! I watched the series twice before i started and decided i wanted to give it a shot, I just finished rebuilding mine that lost a timing belt at 165k miles, runs great so far! I took it a step further and put some fresh rod and main bearings in, like you said in one of the previous videos the hanes manual is a great tool for this car/motor package as there is very little info on this car available online, but even with the hanes manual it still doesnt go over tightening sequence or torque specs of rod caps or main caps for the crankshaft, i managed to get ahold of them on justanswer from a certified ford tech, for anyone looking for those specs. Its $35 a month U.S. to sign up on just answer. It wont let me post the screenshots but if this guy wants to put a video up i will happily send the specs his way i just dont know how to do it on RU-vid
The black one? Unfortunately the company aren’t trading anymore. They were a custom number plate company so try asking a few and they might be able to help, that would be my advice bud 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Didn't you think that the reason why there are on 2 port holes in the gasket instead of in all like on the block is because through there the coolant gets out through the cyl head and into the coolant outlet hoses that go out of the engine? That's why only those 2 are needed and it should be that way. You can still always think that perhaps they knew why they this or that😉.
Alright, following up on my last comment - do you know the operating voltage of the LEDs you used? I'm about to tackle this in my Mk7 but all the SMD suppliers here want to know the operating voltage of the diodes (I see in the eBay listings that the forward voltage is 2.0-2.2v, but I guess that's different). I assume it's 12v since it's automotive, but want to make sure before I spend a bunch of money on diodes. Thanks again!
They won’t be 12v, 2.0-2.2v seems about right, there may be some variation depending on the type of led and possibly differences between colours but they should be around the 2-3v range. There are resistors on the PCB’s to lower the voltage appropriately for the LEDs. 12v will cook them instantly 😂
@@MendItModIt word, thanks. The low trim models of the mk7 Fiesta in the US have red LEDs on everything, but not everything is plug and play (the dimmer switch from a Fiesta Titanium causes a BCM error and all the dash lights to flicker on a Fiesta ST, or at least the one I got did) so I’m really having a hell of a time with all this since the resistors and voltages are all different.
Hello there, I just wanted to say, your video was a lot of help to me. I knew what to expect and the whole job was like 4 hours, would be a lot more without you. Because I knew about that cable connector (thanks to you) I knew what to expect and was able to disconnect it in a few minutes, without cutting the cables. Even after 3 years your videos are a big help to people thanks the effort you put in.
So how do you find the Climair wind deflectors work? Im in a car without AC myself and my main wish is to reduce wind noise/buffeting when having the windows slightly opened
I know my fiesta is compatible with cruise control but does it have an extra wire hiding behind the airbag or where do you plug in the extra wire for cruise control?
Sorry if this has already been asked, what year is this engine? I have a 2015 Ford fiesta SE manual transmission. Think the timing belt broke and/or oil sump clogged, will be looking into it further here in the next few weeks. Hoping this video will come in handy if i decide to rebuild. Thanks
