My Nan had a mk2 Astra in the 90s, she gave up driving and sold it on. She passed away in 2011 and I thought the car was long scrapped but by chance I saw it on a driveway in 2012, I knocked and told the guy the story and asked if he would consider selling, he took my number and to my shock he called me! I brought it back and ran it for 2 years until the floor pan gave way which brought it to an end. Wish she could have seen it back again. Great video Dougie, keep them coming. 👍👊

Great to see the little Catalyst sticker in the rear quarter window of the Cavalier. That point in time when manufacturers would let you know what new kit was fitted to your car you couldn’t see.

Those Corsa Bs were great cars. My mum owned a 1.4 5-door model in dark blue for over 17 years. It took me and my sister absolutely everywhere as children and it always started without fail, unless my mum managed to drain the battery from time to time, which did happen. The fact it started every time was a miracle considering my mum wasn't exactly up to date on servicing it.

Great video format, please do more of these. Once my bonus is paid in February I'll be on the market for 90s Vauxhall goodness. The Astra was the pick of the bunch for me. Couldn't help but notice - is that a fine collection of Sega Master games on your shelf? Great machine.

Those 1.5td Corsas are amazing. I missed out on one on my doorstep for £150 MOT'ed just before COVID it still annoys me to this day, I ended up buying a diesel 205 MOT,ed for £225 so that has softened the blow a bit.

Watching this is like watching myself browsing the listings! In fact it was your videos during the first lockdown (when I discovered your channel) that kickstarted my love of Vauxhall’s again! I have both that vectra B and Astra mk3 in my watchlist/favourite lists. Also got my eye on an omega and frontera too lots of choice popping up at the moment but holding out for that senator 3.0 or Carlton…

My dad had a gold mk2 cav and also my uncle but slightly different shades ? My dads a 1.3 y reg and his brother a 1.6 a plate, I had a gold c reg manta berlinetta that I painted calibra yellow ! . The gold mk2 brings back a lot of memories as I crashed a blue 1 into the back of a metro which spread bit of fiberglass filter everywhere ! All from the metro.

Agree with Vectra B being great value. A couple of years ago my wife had a 2001 Vectra 1.8 LS auto (was her dads car) but it needed a new set of tyres and I wanted to upgrade the steel wheels for alloys. I snagged a 2001 SRI with 11 months MoT a 5 min drive from home that had immaculate alloys & new tyres and a decent but dirty half leather interior for £280. Car wasn't in the best overall condition as it had just under 150k on it so I swapped the wheels, interior, Irmscher back box and Irmscher grill onto the LS and punted the SRI back out for £250.

Awww I’d love that auto cavalier, I actually looked at that vectra on auto trader last week but alas no space or time for one at the mo. Back in the 90’s I had a mk3 Astra 1.4 ht LS seats were yuk but felt really well made, mates had cavalier Sri and a Belmont mk2 CD think it was a 1.8 on a G it was gorgeous, colleague had a diesel corsa and my boss had a cavalier 1.7 TD gls alas all long gone, happy days though.

Enjoyed this Dougie. Thank you for posting it. I do hope these all go to enthusiasts. Absolute bargain classics. I had a Mk4 Astra with the 1.7 Vauxhall Diesel engine. A real trooper. It had 220,000 miles on the clock when I scrapped it (sorry) as the tax was ridiculous at £160 for six months! Anyway, keep up the good work.

Loved watching this video and seeing how excited Dougie got. Especially when he realised how close together the two Astras were. That Mk3 Astra GLS is immaculate and I loved the look of the Corsa TDi too. I remember hearing about them.being flying machines and they came with the desirable power steering too. The car I really want from that era is a Corsa Flair in Caribic Blue. That's one of my favourite Vauxhall colours and I love its slight bonkers touches like the body coloured heater controls and speedo and crazy seat cloth

Great Video Dougie. I had a B Reg MK2 Astra 1.3 that was seriously quick. Bog standard would just about keep up with a Y Reg Golf 1.8 GTi albeit downhill. If the Golf missed a gear I would be up there with them, seriously underrated cars. But then I onwned a Factory Standard June 1988 20XE Astra GTE 16v, it was rolling roaded and was 173.5 BHP at the flywheel. Occording to my friend who was at Luton Training dor Service Technicians, the first 1200 cars produced power ranged between 168 BHP and 190BHP.(Never Publicised) My Brother Owned an F Reg 1988 GTE 16v 20XE Aubergine Model with a non Standard exhaust some years later that produced 174 BHP.. Keep up the Good Work Mate. Nick 👍

I loved the vectra had a few sri and gsi models last one i owned was a velvet green gsi which really popped in the sun, bought it from a branch manager in a vauxhall dealership down in Exeter so it was full of irmscher goodies such as silver coin tray and gearstick surround, I actually preferred the Sri half leathers over the recaros which came in the gsi. That mk2 astra, I considered going for that but I have no off road storage and my wife would probably introduce my manhood to the cheese grater if I went back down that road (she warned me last time I swapped a vectra for a mk2 astra gte with out even telling her, still her argument of having 2 young children and carseats to navigate in a 3 door hatch back still remain irrelevant to me to this day)

The Corsa B CDX auto interest me there is also a 1.4 Breeze auto on fleebay too (but their a distance away again), the autos easier due to health. Got to agree about the the tranny in the Cav, it's brilliant, got me many a places in snow no one would touch in a manual, could've my driving abitliy or just knowing how to use them and having the trust, terrible in the V6 though, to high on the final drive, 70 is just about achieved at 3k would be 90 on an NE. The MK2 would be fun with a 4speed tran swap and maybe an NE, wouldn't need anything more cars light enough, did fancy swapping my 1.8i 3speed for the 4 at one point many moons ago, that would have been fun. Oh for for the money...

Another great video, make it a regular feature on your channel. I am hoping to get a Cavalier or Carlton as a retirement toy soon.Preferably a 2.0 8 valve if a Cavalier, not a fan of the early Ecotecs as I had both as 3 year old cars and found the 8 valve to be a much more reliable and quieter engine .

Dougie, tried very hard not to even blink for the whole video...failed BTW. Worked my way through your videos, nearly caught up now (watched this out of order as looked good). Boasting now, had Astra CLUB (MKII), D-reg,1.3 4 speed box, 75bhp, all white colour coded, except door handles, even still have the gift pack in cellophane, keyring, scarf, etc. Then Corsa B 1.2 LS 3-door, N-reg, Smoke Silver, STILL HAVE THE (NON AIRBAG) STEERING WHEEL, ONE OF MY FAVOURITES, Vectra B P-reg 2.0 Di LS trim hatch, beautiful metallic green, then for courier work, CorsaVan B, 1.7D S-reg, finally AstraVan 1.7D, Y-reg, white (obviously :) ). My favourite from your selection, Astra 1.6 GLSi, beautiful met red. This type of video is really enjoyable, more when you have time please.
