Can't believe he put the Xtrail in 4x4 Lock on the race track. That mode is only for loose surface, mud or snow. On a dry road it's like driving with difflock on. Axle windup, lots of strain on the transmission. Even the handbook warns not to use 4 Lock in the dry.
I own the Xtrail... love it dearly! it's incredible on our 2km bush cabin trail. I have Yokohama GO15 all terrains if i switch it to "LOCK" it has never got stuck in the mud 14" of snow or frozen rock hills :)
still have my 2005 xtrail t30 in canada love it.. and we got bought the new 2015 t32 last year called rogue here... but i still prefer to drive the t30 ..
This is a brilliant clip that practically put's the cars to test, and I have never doubted the ability of the Xtrail, I totaly agree coz I have the same and I am satisfied with it's perfomance, space and comfort.
Proud owner of T30 X-Trail. Capable of occasional off-roading and practical, and reliable too. The only issue I had with it is bad crankshaft sensor, replaced it and it's hauling ass. Almost 200k km on it and still running.
My mother had a Freelander 1 TD4 auto, for a good few years she loved the thing as much as I did, it was quite comfortable, enough space to fit a few bails of hay in the back, the cloth seats are something i wish I had in my Land Rover, the rear electric window is something my mum still talks about to this day and complains about each car she’s had afterwards not having such a feature, it was also pretty off road capable never had any issues with the suspension and it was used for it’s intended purpose, and it was good at towing within its rated capacity, however the car had issues engine and gearbox wise, my mum loved it so much she kept fixing it and fixing it, until she eventually sold it and the mechanic who worked on it bought it, and a week after he got it the turbo and gearbox both went, she now has a Dacia Duster diesel manual, she’s had no engine or gearbox issues apart from the charge pipe coming loose, however it’s had many many suspension problems and it wasn’t used no near as harshly as the Freelander, it’s definitely not as comfortable and lacks space, but it is a budget vehicle and I like it a lot myself, much prefer the Renault engine in the Duster than the BMW engine in the Freelander, and not to mention the Duster is at least twice more fuel efficient. Still would rather own the freelander.
Well for the continuous record we are just entering 2021 and owning my 06 plate X Trail for the last 6 years it’s still going strong and still waving fair well to all the others it leaves behind. The early X Trails are truly unsung heroes of the family 4X4s👍
Love nissan x trail. Powerful and sturdy. The only problem is that it get heated up esp in saudi arabias hot weather conditions but still it rocks to my level of understanding when i campare it to rav 4. Nissan has got powerful engines and i hope the problem i face has been overcome with the all new x trail which looks little cosmetic as compared to the older version.
