Agreed! I have a big rake of the Dapol 21-ton hoppers I need to fill and this looks a great idea.

Being the son of a South Wales miner, I do like a good coal train. Your loads look fine to me. I was reading recently that a large coal fired power station could burn over 8,000 tonnes of coal PER DAY, and the MGR HAA hopper trains could deliver around 1,000 tonnes each, so there would have to be 8 trains per day just to keep pace with consumption. And this was happening all over the country, day in, day out, until well into the 1990s.

Love the creative thunderstorm effect s. Your coal loads method is great. All I need is to a railway layout. Great job on the coal loads and making them removable is excellent. I'll have to see if I can get a couple of those chocolate wagons. I buy lots of beer wagons that shouldn't probably be seen together but, rule 1. And everyone loves chocolate. Cheers!

hello Mike, great video, love the red Nellie loco,built when hornby was a good company, spotted the AEC matador in the background, they were brillant motors. when i was at AEC we built the militant,

Great video Mike, like the new format with the chapters and nice to see the red R455 loco again it goes really well with those Dapol Chocolate vans if willy wonka and the chocolate factory had there own rolling stock I'm sure it would look like this. 👍

Hi Mike I like this format, much better to have the short snippets grouped together like this than all separate. I generally ignore the shorts format as I find them irritating and don't like the portrait window view that they use. Thanks as always, all the best Rob.

Mr. DMU running during a thunderstorm is a nice scene. Perhaps you could create the same scene with the ghost Kerr Stuart tank engine, and make up a spine-tingling story about her untimely demise after crashing into the back doors of the Goods Shed. The little red tank engine is a good one to haul the chocolate vans, love that very much. You create wonderful story scenes. In sleep she sang to me, in dreams she came, That whistle which calls to me and speaks my name. So do I dream again? For now I find The Phantom of Mike's Railway is there inside my mind.

First up, great video. My favourite section was the DMU in the thunder storm. Looked like a mixture of practical lighting and digital effects. I wonder, did you chance upon the lightning and decide "I can use that!" The coal load was handy, I will probably steal that as I currently use black foamex cut and topped. I feel that section could have been its own video with a couple of more details. Where do you get the coal? Do you break it up yourself? The chocolate vans are nice but not really long enough for a feature video. How about 60 second reviews in the shorts section? You have some quick running clips but perhaps a quick micro review would bait people in to the channel? Especially if they are £11. Best of both worlds then. Long form for features, 60 second reviews for people with no attention span 🙂

As ever thanks for the support 🙏 ah the thunder flashes come from a special effects setting on my spot light, the rain is as you observed digital. Coal came from a local friend and workmate and yes I use a thick cloth and hammer 🔨 I like the idea of rapid reviews, might look into that.

I do love that Kerr Stuart Victory, mine also runs like a dream and looks gorgeous 😍 I prefer long format videos, I tend to hide Shorts from my subscriptions as the format feels like a waste of time for the type of video I enjoy watching. I know RU-vid pushes all channels towards Shorts, but could they possibly have a vested interest to do so? Something to do with fiduciary responsibility perhaps?

Thanks, yes a remarkable model. Ah yes shorts, an unfortunate necessity if you want to get on in RU-vid world as they seek to compete with ticktock. That said some of mine have come out ok and attracted remarkably high views

Hello Mike, Your coal loads look very good, you have some nice ideas there and achieve a great result. Looking at the finished results, you end up with an easily managed job, both in appearance and adjustment of the load height. Regarding the Bachmann Flockton wagon, I have a wagon from the same series, unfortunately it has a split axel, I've struggled to find a good replacement, Do you happen to know of any replacements, that would be a good fit?

Many thanks, I'm sure we can find you a new wheel set. I'll measure mine and see what I can find, I'd imagine Hornby wagon wheels might fit.

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited thanks for your help, I have already tried a couple of Hornby sets that I have, unfortunately they are large and a difficult fit, both the bronze looking ones and an older plastic type. More modern types are to small and rattle around. If I can find a suitable section of styrene or plastic rod I'll have a go at repairing them. the wheels have a fine pin stub, push fit. Wobble free accuracy may be a problem though! I haven't looked, but I doubt they are still available

I prefer the longer segments. I often find the one or two minute vids are a waste of time. By the time the 'tube advert has finished, half the clip has gone as well, so I tend to skip past them.
