Great feedback all around. I agree with you, owning a CL-S 6MT is all about exclusivity! You just never see them around. So the fact that there's not a big community is actually kind of a plus, haha.
I still got my 01 CL type S for 21 yrs & still running like a champ haven't done nothing to the motor just a timing belt & one light bulb it's been loyal to me & I'm loyal to him love this car
I have a silver 03 type s with a manual transmission. It also has the navigation option which was rare. I’ve been preaching for a while that this car should get more recognition.
Still holding on to my silver/black non Navi 6spd. At some point in the future people are going to be hunting for them. The 6 speed was only in 2003 and they only made give or take 3000 of them. How many got totalled, scrapped, etc. Their is one near me with I think 10k at a dealership and they are asking 29K for it.
I bought a 2001 silver cl type s 7 years ago and I love working on it and driving it.I replaced the tranny at 225 klms.I replaced the head unit with a double din updated unit which makes all the difference in looks and sound.It has a body kit that helps to make it look lower and fatter. I get inquiries about it often.It still goes like stink.Love your channel.Keep it up.
For it as my first car and being a college student, I really don't have any complains about it other than the fact it's a two door. I'm more of a sedan type. I joined a community on Facebook and hardly anyone posts on it. Also, in my area of Connecticut it's quite a lot of them being driven around.
The worst thing about these cars is the misconception that the transmissions are terrible! My current daily is a white on black non-nav with 205K miles. It's true it gets no love at cars & coffee, but mine is pretty rough with dents all along the driver side, the normal terrible paint, cracked windshield, and rear quarter panel rust that just started showing this past spring. I'm getting a replacement silver on black non-nav next month in Arizona. Can't wait!
Totally agree this car is freaking huge! But makes for a VERY comfortable drive. Long wheel base less rocking. Also I go camping all the time in mine so the extra boot space is nice for me. In fact most installed a roof rack to strap my snow board lol. I try to go everywhere I can in this thing Fellow 6 speed owner here
I agree no one know how rare they are, I am on my 3rd one and they were cheap 10 years ago but finally the price is going up. I have started to buy older Lexus also and the fit and finish is far superior. I am on the fence about selling mine since I never really drive it anymore but somehow its tough to part with!
I'm here my friend.i feel the same way.the issue was it didn't catch on because of The infamous auto transmission that was giving out at sometimes under 25k. Acura ruined their name and a lot of ppl stayed away.i always wanted one and finally got the 2001 auto and it already had a rebuilt transmission with warranty and was great.my dream was the 6 speed and got super lucky and found one.i got rid of the auto(long story)and still have my 6 speed and also a 6 speed tl shawd
@@acura2g i had one with rebuilt one with guarantee with it.did my research and the cl&tl were infamous for failed transmission and that scared off a whole community.
1) thre is a large following on ACURAZINE 2) Why mess with PERFECTION! 3) there is nothing wrong with the size of this car. It handles well for this size car 4) The interior is great, comfortable, and if you are lucky enough to have the NAV system and the Bose stereo, then it is an awesome cabin 5) Thats the best thing, when you blow the doors off the mustangs, challengers, and other wanna be muscle cars! They dont know what hit them!. bottom line, if you dont like your CL Type S, then just give it to ME!
Well the video popped up again and i re watched it again and once again agree100000% that our 2003 cl 6 speeds are so rare ppl don't really get us or understand why we love our cars.i had said this in my last comment before about things transmission issues that ravaged Acura/honda in the early 2ks. It scared ppl off when their transmission failed under 50k and then had recall put same exact one back in to only fail again in the automatic so The 6 speed was caught up in that mess even though it's rock solid.the price compared to the civics and accord also hindered the c.l. In the end we are a very ultra small community who's only contact is through youtube(😅).other than that i see a few auto boxes where i live and one silver bullet 6 speed where i deliver.spoke to that guy and he agreed with our opinions.i would do more content myself but don't think i would even get viewers so i mainly post about my 2010 tl sh awd 6 speed and that doesn't get much either.let's just keep these cars and enjoy them ourselves i guess.i still once in awhile look for the 6 speed for sale and see a few online sitting in ppls yards or driveway's.if i had the money or space i would buy them just because they are so rare and a dang good car
Well said! When I made this video it was more of an honest opinion. I think sometimes about selling the car but what would I end up getting? Most of the cars I would get to replace it are cost prohibitive now.

My interior has held up a lot more than my 2005 accord that looks like it was put together with a glue stick. Also, i have the 03’ 6spd graphite grey/black interior and it doesn’t have any fake wood, it’s fake brushed aluminum, I think that just for the tan interior on the 6spd.. I’ve seen videos of e46 interiors falling apart so I’m not sure how high quality they really are in comparison. I’ve got zero glue to fabric failures and the only real issues is the common separation of the window control button insert and the door panel. Although the car has its drawbacks, I have no plans on selling. My model is 1 of 226 I believe. Satin silver/ black interior/navigation/ comptech headers/ fortune auto coilovers. Although a boat, I feel the car is pretty quick and I love the look of it with a nice drop.
Ya I disagree with his statement about the BMW interior. Mt wife had an e36 and it was falling apart after 12-15 years. Worked in the car industry for 18 years. I have driven every almost. And BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, etc interior always seemed lacking for a luxury car. Just my opinion. I hated the buttons they use. Acura CL interior anything special? No but the cover on the glove box still hasn't fallen off like the e36.

I was out getting groceries one day and some stupid 4 cylinder ricer base model wrx on his way to a meet tried to impress his convoy and tried to cut me off in my 6 spd tank. Needless to say my 260 hp cut his moded base model to shreds and I ended up cutting him off instead. I didn’t even have the comptech supercharger.😂
A CLS6 has only one flaw for me, FWD. it’s also a little ugly. I partially went with it because my RWD cars were bankrupting me given my tendency to let the tires spin. Aside from that, mines putting down E46 M3 WHP and if it was RWD it would be just about perfect for me. After many many 20+ year old BMWs that I beat to death, I wanted something with comparable power but far more reliable. I do wish though the angles were different. This should’ve looked a bit more like a prelude or an Sc300. Instead it’s got a downward sloped hood and rear which makes it look goofy
I sold my Acura CL type S black on black for $3000 and I regret it so bad I I own the car for seven years and it had a rebuilt transmission and a new paint job
I'm looking at a CL-S 6mt. Tomorrow morning 140k asking 3100.oo. I am worried how it was treated or if it was tuned poorly. But hearing that this car doesn't have a huge tuning culture makes me feel a little better. Cons so far from pics are the skull shifter and the mustang emblem on the grill. Any thoughts or anything you think I should look out for?

You don't get a car like this to have people ogle over it at cars and coffee. You get a car like this because you know what you have when you do. It's a reliable 2-door cruiser. It's not a hot hatch, corner carver, or muscle car. It has enough power to get out of its own way, and sadly only one model year's worth of stick shift transmissions. As for community, they didn't sell a ton of these cars so what examples remain intact out there is relatively small. If no one seems to recognize the vehicle if you take it to a cars and coffee, then it's up to you to share its legacy. It's up to them as to whether or not to care. But if you just want a "community" that badly enough, go buy a Jeep Wrangler, Subaru WRX, or Chevy Corvette. Provided it's in good shape, I'd be happy to take your CL off your hands as I'm in the market for one.
@@acura2g Awesome! They come with a weak clutch from the factory. So I put a stage 1 clutch, lux slave, k tuned master cylinder, dual mass flywheel, insane shafts "500 hp rated " and some hankook v12 s2. Makes a huge difference.
