These are really impressive. I'm in love with the goldtop, and can't believe it's only $599 USD. I have to admit that I wasn't familiar with these guitars, at all, so thanks for bringing them to my attention.
In all honesty - the gold top LP style is my pick out of the bunch...I had them for a few days now and that’s the one I keep wanting to play...the neck is not skinny but not super fat...the pickups sound great...it stays in tune really well - I put 11s on it and lowered the action a little and the neck didn’t move so it was an easy setup...the fretwork is great...machine heads feel good...all up I’m very impressed!!
Very cool. I can find something to like about most guitars, but I always come back to the LP style. Mine is an early '90s Studio, so I've got the baseball bat neck. I'd like to get another LP type, and they (Sire) have my two favorite finishes (gold and tobacco burst), plus I'd like to see how a smaller neck feels.
Larry is one of the GOAT's, no doubt (imho), and these guitars looks really nice. The "33x" could be a contender for me, no doubt. Looking for something like that
He’s one of the great that’s for sure...the H7 (335 style) is a great guitar...it’s kinda the odd one out...the other three are more “modern” style guitars - more modern neck profile, locking tuners and higher output pickups - this is a much more vintage feeling and sounding guitar...I’d say it’s based on his 1969 ES335 with a similar neck profile and similar output pickups...I’ve only had them here for a couple of days but so far I’m very impressed
Sire is known for their rolled fretboard edges . I have 3 sire basses they don't feel budget . Even my least expensive V3 5 string feels as good or better as my Mexican jazz basses
@@drugtaker3283 I worked at Valley Arts guitar 1987--90 in the repair dept and later was head of manufacturing in their custom guitar dept. Got to meet and work with Larry and carved some of the necks for his custom Tele as well as his 68 335. Small necks for sure!
Thanks for the review. You told you were looking for the white S7. I was also looking for it. Finally, when I found it in my local reseller, I was disappointed: it looks veeeeerrrrrryyyyy cheap compared to the other ones. Finally I took the blue one (same color as the s7fm you tested.
I have the S7 Sunburst, like the one you have. I LOVE it. The neck is fantastic. Money super well spent. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the T7 when it comes out later this year and maybe an H7 at some point. I'll just have to make more room in the small corner of the bedroom that I have control over...
This is a repeat post of a reply I made to Craig. I'm looking at the T7 but soup it up a little with a Seymour Duncan lil59 in the bridge and one of his stacked humbuckers for the neck. Years ago I had a US standard Tele with a lil59 and standard neck pickup and it worked great. For the S7 I would have picked the green, maybe at these prices I'll buy both! 22,800 Baht in Thailand for the S7 so the price seems consistent worldwide.
Best looking guitar number 1 and like the SSH set up but when it comes to sound OMG the gold Les Paul copy that sound with those hum-buckers what a tune 😍
I have a Sire P7 5 string PJ bass. I’m a guitar player by trade, but I needed one decent bass for the once in a blue moon that I have to play bass instead. My brother is a bassist by trade and has an impeccable quilted maple top Fender American deluxe jazz 5. After a set up for both, and playing them back to back I’d put them against each other from a playability and tone perspective any day. There are a few very small cosmetic quality issues that may very well have been from shipping and handling on my Sire. The thing is, I paid $800 with case, strap, and tax included. My brother paid $3,200 for his. Don’t get me wrong, the Fender is super nice, but I don’t know that it’s an extra $2400 nice...
Hi Kevin...a good friend of mine is a bass player...he said the same thing...he’s been playing high end Warwick and Fender basses all his life and now he has two Sires and he plays them all the time and loves them...he said he can’t really fault them...built quality, electronics...everything...AMAZING value for money instruments! And the guitars are pretty much the same...very well made guitars!!
Thanks for the reply. BTW I just found your channel last night with this video, and you now have a new subscriber. Looking forward to more content! Keep up the good work brother!
The real Larry Carlton 335 was unusual in the more distant placement of the stop bar and these guitars follow that spec so I would likely assume that the neck width also follows is 335.
Thank you Eric! I’ve become a huge fan of these guitars...great sounding and feeling guitars...the quality is great! I use heavier strings and they seem to set up very easily and quite well to the heavier strings (I use 11s &12s)...all up very impressed!!
Tip for those close-up pictures: Put your hand up flat behind the neck and try to cover the lens. As long as the camera got your face in view it will do all it can to keep it that way.
If these had stainless steel frets like Shijie or even the cheaper EART / M Musi line's, I'd be all over them. Either way, I'm done with Fender when this type of quality is available at lower prices. The days of $500 MIM's are long gone.
Mine is the plain sunburst and I have to say I enjoy playing it more than my $3000 + Fender Elite Strat. It just feels so great with the roasted maple neck, smooth frets and high quality. I also think the choice of height declining tuners instead of having string trees makes the overall design feel superior. I will definitely buy the semi hollow if they release them in Australia. Had to buy mine from Andertons...
HI J...check out Gsus4...as far as I know they are the only Australian importers at the moment and they are taking pre-ordres - talk to Kang!! gsus4.com.au/collections/sire-larry-carlton
Cool accent you have from England I'm from originally from New York live in west side of Florida I have two great daughters and four grandkids live by us
Hi Eddie, I'm not sure what accent I have...I'm originally from Austria (I grew up speaking German) but now I live in Australia...so I'm guessing its a bit of a mangled Australian accent?!?
Very nice guitars I have eight guitars my latest guitar is gretsch streamliner left handed all my guitars are left handed and before that guitar I bought LYX telecaster that was only 109 from Amazon both guitar came from Amazon your guitars are very nice I'm so glad these days they have alot of left handed guitars than years ago you couldn't find any
You just played 5 guitars straight out of the box, and as you say, were forgotten in a customs warehouse for a week, and they all played well with no fret buzz or string height adjustments. I only have the H7, but I could have played it on a stage right after unboxing! The fit and finish on my H7 was superior to many of my other guitars that I paid 10 times the money for! I own 15 high end guitars, and all of them required $150.00 to $250.00 "set ups", the H7 has yet to go to my guitar tech! These are defiantly the best beginner or intermediate guitars on the market! Better than the Epiphone's in their price range, sorry Gibson!
Played one through a Mesa Boogie California Tweed. Awesome tones. Even though my Epiphone Traditional Pro inspired by Gibson Series was more adorable with that true Gibson 335 vibe. I gravitate towards the Epiphone more. Just need a good Amp.
Really like the Les Paul style one as the fatter neck suits me. A bit disappointing the Gibson style 335 model is it? has a skinny neck as comfort is a priority personally.
The neck is meant to be an exact copy of his (Larry Carltons) main 335...it has a very vintage feel to it...it’s still nice...just very different to the other two, more modern styled guitars!!
I have nine guitars all made left handed my latest guitar is a gretsch streamliner my favorite my favorite strat I have is the SX vintage stratocaster the other stratocaster is a fender squire
Maybe next time edit the focus time out of the video. The super blurry shot over and over made me actually queasy. Thanks for the video. Pretty interested in the single cut and semi hallow models.
I enjoy your videos. I simply love my S7. I just can’t get i out of my hands 🤷🏻♂️ The volumen Control thoug has a treble bleed circuit that i need to remove.
Thank you very much!! I really like the S7...I never really use the volume control on the guitar...only to turn the volume on or off really...so I can't really relate to the treble bleed cap...but I know that some people really like it and others really don't
@@TSFAHTPS I’m extremely excited to see how these guitars compare to squiers, fenders and gibsons!!!! Is there any way you can review cort guitars like the gold series 8 acoustics(maybe the a8) cort sent a bunch of a6 guitars out and I want to see how the a8 or similar models compare either the pau ferry back and sides or the more budget friendly torrefied models such as the earth 200atv or the l200ltv? I saw that cort sent a bunch of RU-vidr gold a6 guitars and they got some reward for that guitar and I just want to see how it stacks up compared to other brands and companies because cort makes a lot of guitars for other companies but they aren’t reviewed that much:)
I agree. You should see the other fm version, the natural one. Looks cool with black knobs and pickups for contrast. My heroes are Eric Johnson and Andy Timmons, but the sunburst look isn't for me
They are US$599-$649 as far as I know...and yes it is a lot of money...I’m just saying for what you get it’s not really a lot of money if you compare it to Guitars of similar quality that are more like US$1200-1500
I have been using the trem arm since I got the guitars and it has never fallen out. There is a little Allen Key screw that holds it in...if you have issues with that coming loose - which can happen to any screw - just put some Loctite Threadlocker on it and you will not have issues again
@@TSFAHTPS Thanks for the reply and advice. Should the tremolo arm click in and out or do you wind it after tightening. I tried another one in a shop last night and I couldn't get it to stay in. I'm used to the screw in type, so I'm a naive beginner with he other system and looking for help.
They are around £499-£549 at Anderson’s - looks like they have some of the new colours and also two new models available for preorder...I think they are around US$599-$649 in the US...and around $1k here is Australia
Just been checking out the web site after following the link in the description. What do you know the best sounding guitar (L7) also seems to be the cheapest. Result 😉
Do you know any Australian retailers carrying Sire guitars? I know that there are a couple of bass specialists who stock Sire basses, but I can’t find anyone who is stocking their guitars.
The L7 - Les Paul style has locking tuners too! I think they went for a more “modern” style guitar with the Strat & Les Paul, like some of the Valley Arts Guitars Larry plays…but for the 335 they went more with the original vintage specs
Larry Carlton S7FM great sound ..one of the most beautiful guitar tones I've heard in my life...I will only say my opinion ..for all those who make a serious decision to learn to play this instrument, one thing is certain, every guitar produces a sound in accordance with its performance, and this is called the color of the sound, SO THERE IS NO GOOD COLOR OR BAD COLOR..THERE IS ONE THAT YOU LIKE....OR NOT, SO THERE IS NO GOOD OR BAD GUITAR?! ALL GUITARS ARE LIKE WOMEN, they suit some and some don't... with a good amplifier and a good processor, I use the AX3000G KORG on my recordings, you can get a good sound, let's say this Epiphone SL guitar.. or I use Flight (Slovenian manufacturer, shape Les Paul) I also use Ibanez Gio GRG 121, also Stagg shape Stratocaster, produced in 1995, I got an Ibanez RX 150 from 1994 two days ago and I'm very happy with it...they all sound great, depending on the purpose for which song I want to use them. All guitars has a great sound and with good parameters it can be used as a professional instrument , best regards from Edy ..and all the best in your future work
They haven’t actually been released yet...I think they were meant to come out around now but have been delayed till later in the year. Hopefully they will send us some of the new guitars once they come out!!
I’m not sure…they came straight from the factory in Indonesia to me…they sat in customs here in Australia for about a week or so…plus I guess I didn’t actually order them, they were sent to me by Sire
They only sent us those! But then that was a few years ago before they released the T-style guitars! At the time those were all the guitars in the catalogue
It’ll be interesting to see if he will play these guitars live all the time like Marcus Miller does. These guitars were released just as COVID started so he hasn’t really had a chance to play them live yet...I have seen a couple of videos from his home studio where he played the 335 style H7...
The only one I've seen is this remote collaboration with some of our friendly "Sire peope" from last Holiday season: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PlqOcKo6DU0.html
