I traveled the world for 13 years playing fiddle/rhythm guitar for one of the all-time top recording artists in country music. As rhythm guitar was somewhat forced upon me (fiddle was my forte) this simple lesson would have saved me a lot of heartaches and frustration had I had it at the time. This lesson should be viewed and learned by ALL aspiring guitarists. Great job!

@@anotherbahamianguitarplayer In 20 years of teaching I've found that most students understand strum patterns better than counting rhythm. In fact, most find counting rhythm confusing. When I get the occasional student who responds better to counting rhythm, it usually means they have a background in another instrument.

awesome..im a drummer for the last 40 years,who started to seriously expand my playing..now playing some harmonica & learning how to play guitar,violin/fiddle and now mandolin..weird how things started to fall into place because i strum left handed but once i started learning this way,things seem to be falling into place that much easier..love your tutorials..God Bless

Jamie, thanks so much for these tutorials. I'm 66 I've been playing guitar since I was 12 and I could never get anyone to just give me a straight answer on playing guitar . Since I could not afford lessons early on I had to learn by watching and imitating .I learned more about strumming in the past 10 minutes then I did in the past 10 years.

Just want to share some love and keep the comment section alive. I taught myself to play in 2006 and then stopped playing a few years later, I've dusted off the old guitar and with the four basic chords I've taken this on as my first refresher drills. Its great. Thanks!

Brilliant i remember play that one at first you played on g when I was about 6, 7 my dad taught to play guitar and tin whistle and keyboard started at 5 but I was more interested in playing my whistle lol think it's an Irish thing I started playing whistle again after 32 years I play by ear I never forgot how to play a whistle even though I cudnt play a tune or remember just about two but I play by ear then at at same time i taught myself how to play a bodhran I've a guitar here a friend give me odd strings nylon and metal lol I'm Gona get my dad to string and tune it I really want to learn guitar now can only remember how to play a g and e minor so I need a lot off practice lol will certainly be in need off you help my dad's been playing about 46 years but has no time or patience lol so when I get them strings sorted Ile be checking you out thank u for putting this up oh I loved the guitar woman song lol great stuff all round 😉
