Epson EcoTank 3 in 1 Printer: amzn.to/39rxWAY Printhead: amzn.to/3iS2hMe Not may people have had luck with replacement print head, but link above for those that want to try. I ending up buying the Epson after the tricks in video stopped working.
I DID IT!!! You are amazing. I am a 76 year old lady with basic computer skills. I had to resort to the final step of cleaning the print head, but after I did, it worked. I cannot thank you enough for posting this video with such good instructions. Maybe this will buy me a little more time to at least be on the look out for a good deal. Sending a cyber hug to you!!! Thank you is not enough.
The first thing one should do is remove the printhead and see if the error message changes to 1401 instead. That is the error for missing printhead. If after removing the printhead the printer still says error 1403 nothing will help to resolve this, not even buying a new printhead.
wow, i wish i would have read that before buying another print head. Just wasted another 30bux on this POS. Sad thing is it worked great for years up until now. Had even bought a whole box of new inks a few months before. and to top it off, the only reason i bought the mx920 was it came so highly rated. what a load of BS. Will never buy canon again. epson from here on out for me.
Thank you! It really works. I cleaned so long until print head was totally clean. Now my printer is like a new. There is no longer error 1403. I saved lot of money.
Not only did this fix the printer head error I was getting, after just reseating the head, the problems I was having getting good prints disappeared. My old MG6120 lives to see another day. Thanks!!!
I've had my Canon Pixma for 5 years - it's never given me problems until this. And this video helped me to make it go again. So, thank you! I will start looking for a new printer though - I agree that this is a sign that its end is near. Thanks also for a reference to a new Epson. Thanks for your video!
THANKS this did the trick! We've had Canon printers for over 20 years & have never had any issues with them! Praying that your trick lasts awhile rather than buying a new printer!
I watched this video and did as you suggested. Just removing the printer head and replacing it didn’t work. So, I ran the hot water through it and rinsed all the ink out of it. That worked like a charm!
Sadly, cleaning the printhead is what CAUSED my 1403 error. I think Canon just chooses to manufacture printers that start to incur errors like this after a few years to incentivize replacement.
Tried it; worked first time; thanks. CANON USA offered "I was eligible for the Canon Upgrade Program" and I would get a one-time credit toward the new one ordered from Canon sales. Thanks again.
I just watched your video and I haven't yet taken the time to read other people's comments, but I tried your first step of taking out the old print head and re-seating it, but I still received the same error message. I may try the next step of cleaning since although I was thrilled to find that a replacement Canon printer, the TS3522, was still priced reasonably in today's ridiculous inflation status. But after putting in atleast 6 hours of trying to link it to my 2 smart phones and my pc, I am actually ready to throw THE NEW ONE out the window !!!! Thank you for sharing this fix, whether it works for me or not, atleast now I know how to access the printer head in a printer ! God bless you.
Thanks for the great video. I earlier tried the realignment of the printheads and that did not work. I went to the cleaning of the printheads and ran about 4 cups of warm de mineralized water. This flushed a lot of ink. Ran the isopropyl alcohol through the print head also. Support code 1403 is gone!!! Ran the printer maintenance and nozzle check. Prints nice again! Thanks for allowing me to save this printer and all the ink that I had for this Canon.
The video was helpful. I'd replaced the printer head about 6 months ago and this one quit. Spent the weekend cleaning the printer head and reinstalling. it worked for about a day and the incorrect printer warning came back up. the printer is at least 5 years old and I don't want to go through the process of replacing it again, so I'll leave it out by the dumpster for anyone who thinks they want to play around with it. I was actually looking at the Epson anyway, but for sublimation work. May have to put that off for a bit and get back up and running with just a printer.
Thank you, Bump! Brilliant fix & so easy, apart from the ink all over my fingers! You are a gem! Like others, I've had Canon printers for years without any problems. So glad I found your fix.
Sadly, your excellent cleaning instructions did not work for my 8-year-old printer (I got that print head spotless, too!). I'm super happy with my new Epson Ecotank, so thanks for the recommendation!
I got the 1403 error yesterday and found your video. After giving the quick fix a go my Canon printer appears to be toast. Eight years ago I paid a whopping $60 for the thing and it included the 6 ink cartridges! So, I guess I can't really complain. I'll be looking into the Epsons as you suggested.
This was so helpful, and yes clear and understandable for even me...I, after trying #1 and it not working am inclined to go with #3, the only thing is I have unused ink. I am daydreaming videoing the #3 option and sending as an attachment to this comment, lol! But, I don't want to give the printer that much attention :). Have no idea what to do, because I am broke, and am seeing this video is old, so who knows what is the best printer anymore and everything is so expensive now in 8/2023...sigh. Thanks again, for your help!!
YEAH! This worked...no problem. Thank you for the clear instructions.....I just moved and buying a printer is last on my list. This tip saved me $$ and time!
I used a drinking straw with a cup of boiling hot water . Use straw like a syringe finger over the end to hold water in straw then wash the printer head . Cleaned it well . However the error still persisted even with brand new ink cartridges . This is third Pixma canon we’ve owned . Never again ! Epsom here we come !
I just went trough the better part of a gallon of hot distilled water and a few ounces of alcohol I have a compressor and blew dry the part to make sure it was dry - no luck. Looks like new print will be required. I must say I have been using this MX870 for several years. I will not jump to the Epson without checking it out. The cannon had a few features I liked. Thanks
I appreciated your instructions. It did not fix it for me, so I'm printer shopping. I have to say, I've been using my Pixma for 4 1/2 years without incident.
When cleaning the print head, I would recommend a rubber ear bulb (which has a nice pointy end) to direct the warm water to the different ink ports. It really pushes that ink out of there much faster than just pouring water over them. The same bulb can be used for isopropyl alcohol too. Unfortunately I still have the error code, so I guess it is time to go shopping.
Didn't fix my Canon Pixma iP7260. Nearly bought one of the Epson Ecotank printers today - the ET-5170 but amazed that for a $650 MFC Printer Scanner these is no Duplex Scanning capability. This was a deal breaker for us. Does double sided printing which again amazingly is not present in the more basic but nevertheless in the $400 ET-2720. Compared with say the HP Officejet 8010e which has both double sided printing & duplex scanning for $179 - not an Ecotank printer obviously but Epson, get your act together & give us this basic stuff in your Ecotank Printers & you will be on a winner. Might even buy one next time around.
Thanks! I have a different error about the cartridges not being recognized. The printer was working fine then all the sudden developed this issue. I tried new cartridges and cleaning the print head as you showed, but nada. That Epson is looking pretty good right now.
Sadly I stopped after re-seating the print head. I can't be arsed to try everything else. This piece of shit has been the bane of my life for years. Time for a new one!
I would advise against trying to buy a new print head. I bought the same exact Canon printer model and tried to put the print head from the new printer into the old print and I got the same error. I'm almost convinced Canon programs their printers to display errors after a set period of time so they can sell new products.
@@thebumpchannel I liked the printer and wanted to continue using it. Since I had both there I figured I would at least try to see if the print head was actually the issue.
Thanks for the video. This trick worked once but now I'm getting the error code u052. I've had this canon since 2011 and it will feel weird throwing it away finally after so many times troubleshooting through errors LOL. I'm going to go with your recommendation and buy an ecotank, but the et-2850. How is your epson ecotank holding up?
Unfortunately I did everything you showed in the video and it still didn't work... sad part is I have 2 brand new sets of ink cartridge that go with the printer...ugh
Hahaha! Unfortunately, my attempt to fix the printhead took me one step further … the printer failed to turn on all together. Off the roof it goes! Thanks for your time. It was fun trying to look like I knew what I was doing. Cheers! 👍♥️
Thanks. I am going to try what you suggest but if it doesn't work, do you know if possible to override the error so I can continue to use the fax and scan, which is all I use this machine for? And if that is not possible, does Epson or another brand have a fax/scan combo? and if there is a printer that fails, would still allow me to fax and scan?
Thanks for your help here! Unfortunately, it didn't work. These Canon printers are garbage. This thing has given me nothing but trouble since I bought it. Should have gotten rid of it a long time ago.
Thank you so much as I had jammed some paper (trying to be eco-friendly and tried printing on the back) which ultimately caused the jam. Nice plug for the Epson printer as we just got that printer and we are very happy with it!
Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the comment. I love my Epson. It's so nice not having to swap ink cartridges all the time, and the bulk tank has barely moved. It doesn't seem to use much ink at all.
I put in a new print head and got the same error. I don’t have the time or patience to do this. It’s a shame we can’t get a good quality printer. I may have to try the Eason.
So sorry to hear this. Yeah, not happy at all with Canon. Epson is a great option and I have been so happy with mine. Especially how great it is on ink. Check out the link in video description. Thx for the comment!
Thanks for the useful instructions, but it did not solve 1403 for me. I get the feeling Canon distributed a firmware update to disable my old MG7550 series printer. At least that is the only causality I can see here!
Thank you! This fixed my printer. But for sure m next printer won't be Canon, cuz it makes too much movements and sounds just to print one sheet of word doc.... and it also does loud movements after printing..... i don't even know what it is doing.
Thank you for your video. You made it easy to remove the printhead. I will have to get a new printer soon but at least I can use it a little longer. You have a new subscriber.
I also tried cleaning the print head as shown here, but it did not clear the error for me. So, it looks like a very common problem for this printer, and the head cleaning only works some times. Looks like I also need to find another printer too. Since replacing the print head does not always fix the problem either, I won't waste more money on trying that.
@@thebumpchannel Even so, your video was great, and well worth trying! I am impressed with how easy it is to remove the print head, so there is no reason not to try cleaning it. I might even try cleaning it again, before getting rid of the printer.
@@thebumpchannel Yes, I'm not going to try a new print head either. I am curious as to how many people get this error also used off brand ink cartridges? Could using off brand/non OEM inks cause this error or not? I suspect not, since not all people use non OEM inks?
@@dcsco I did try the procedures twice. Used almost a gallon of distilled hot water before runoff stayed clear. So... black, pink, yellow, & blue fingers, minus 1 finger nail... am heading out to find the recommended Epson. Agree -video was good. Do you happen to have one for changing out a ceiling fan? lol
@@alwayscurious7255 Since replacing the print head does not always work, I suspect that the real problem is the print head driver circuit failed, with no way to easily fix that. So I bought a Brother tank printer similar to the Epson, so we will see how long that lasts.
I do alot of re-purpossing the printer is dead so I'm going to pick up a few parts a couple of DIN rails reprogram the control board a small laser an see if I can turn it in to an engraver.
I tried your method, unfortunately it didn't work. It has been reliable for about 10 years. I even tried a hard reset, that didn't work either. I ended up ordering a Canon G6020. Thanks for the video.
Never liked my Canon MG7120 -- Support Code 1403 is yet another reason why! Won't be getting a Canon printer again. Thanks for this video. Unfortunately, it did not help my cause.
I did a scan, then just for kicks I tried to print again. It's alive! But I will start looking for a new printer. Wonder if the scan process cleared an electronic/SW glitch.
Haha. I prefer fishing for my means of catharsis. Sorry to hear it didn't help. The tricks eventually stopped working for me as well and had to buy a new printer. Thanks for the comment!
Very nicely done instructions. Unfortunately, after going through all the motions. Still have to throw that pile of plastic and electronics away. Shame. The new head is 100 euro and is definitely not worth it.
I have tried to clean the printer head, and I still get the same message Print Head is incorrect please replace it. So what should I do? I had a new cartridge replaced. Your comments, please.
@@thebumpchannel On the MX 922, After you open the top cover and the front cover and the ink transport stops moving, press the stop button, the ink cartridge will move slightly so the release mechanism will clear, then use fingers to pull out the release bar.
Followed your suggestions to reseat and clean printhead. No fix, then bought replacement head on Amazon; looked used and No fix. Good bye Canon MX922! Worked great for 6 years never failed; could it be non-canon ink cartridges? or a built in timed code failure? Strange Plan to buy Epson Eco 2760 at Costco.
Sorry to hear that. Same with me. Fix worked for a while, then nothing worked. Bought my Epson on Amazon, caught the white one on sale and is just easier to order online. Good Luck!
Mine's a Canon iP7200. I purchased it for the CD print function and as I can't find another inkjet printer with this function, suggesting an Epson doesn't really help!!
What brand printer is good my cannon printer just sent with that error code I tried fixing it with the video no such luck I need a good printer with fax and etc what do you recommend
merhaba lütfen bana buruna yardım bekliyorum ve ben şöyle anlatım ben canon mg6450 cihaz aldım ikinci el olarak aldım üzerindeki sağlam gibidi az hafif cizgili yazıyordu bende hafif ılık su ile temizledim ve sonuç yazmadı ve yazıyor gibi yazıyor boş kağıt çıkarıyor ben nerede hata yaptım bende onu çözemedim şimdilik yazmıyor boş çıkarıyor yaani bu soruna yardım edecek kişileri bekliyorum...
This is the 3rd canon printer I’m ready to toss. I keep running into these print head issues. I’m done with Canon printers after this one. Did all the tricks, got it to print once then the same print head error message came up.
Isopropo alcohol also works good to clean up the ink head. I let it sit's in a light shallow amount of alcohol wipe it real good it works every time. But yeah it's starting to be a pain in the ass.
It goes in at an angle, with the green part up. It then kind of rotates back and down into place...if you look closely in video you will see how to start it back in. Then rotate it back and down in pressing firmly to seat. It looks like I cut that last bit of reinstall a second too early when editing, sorry about that. You can re-watch the removal to hopefully get a better idea of the angle and rotation. Good Luck!
