i did that with the sound but now I'm not getting video on either screen. i would of just made do with my audio from laptop if I knew both screens would go blank
Inbetween me pressing restart and the audio coming back on, it transferred to the tele, hearing your voice come out the tv was a real moment of victory. thanks mate
@@K8D678 Hi Katie, here is what worked for me. Right click start button and choose Device Manager Expand Display Adapters Right Click NVIDIA GeForce or whichever adapter is listed other than Intel and choose Update Driver Click Browse My Computer Click Let Me Choose From List Choose NVIDIA GeForce from List Press Enter After the driver Update my problem was solved and it works great!
@@K8D678 What worked for me was to go to device manager, right click the audio output of the tv and click on disable device. After that enable the device. For me the audio from the tv was muted after that (it displayed 100% audio before). Unmuting worked after that.
Thanks a million. MD Tech, you are wonderful! I had no audio with the HDMI cable connected to the TV. By following your clear directions, the problem was fixed. To hear the music come from the TV speakers made me smile big time. I’ll tell my friends about you. Thank you again for your expertise and your step by step clarity. Happy, happy, happy.
@@MDTechVideos I have a different problem, the sound is perfect when I play anything through the TV, the problem is when I stream there's no sound coming through, please assist
Thanks so much for this! My HDMI was working fine for a couple months and all of a sudden the audio wasn't going through my TV anymore. The "reset sound" worked!!!
Omg you saved the day I was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong 😑 I thought it was my HDMI cord and I went and found another one, I went on all kinds of RU-vid tutorials didn’t work… yours did the job! Thank you so very much!
Oh my goodness you are the best. I have searched 3 days looking for a solution for this very problem...you sir are a hero! In a time of uncertainty and trepidation, standing face to face with an unfathomable amount of adversity, when all else failed and complete destruction was all but certain...1 heroic man stood alone and said "NOPE...not on my watch" Ok....maybe a bit much lol Thank you for your video
Thank you so much sir, got my first gaming pc today and was working fine when i tested it but seems after i updated windows the audio wouldnt work through the hdmi but this fixed it instantly
Thank you so much. Once I restarted the service and rebooted the computer started getting sound threw HDMI! At first I was thinking it might have been my video card driver.
OK, this video is pretty old, but do you have any idea why the sound just stops after random amounts of time? Have the PC hooked to a new 120Hz Bravia (Dual Screen with a Samsung Display on the side), worked like a dream and suddenly started having issues. It's like it loses the "handshake", swapping output makes it work again but is frustrating. Changed cords, changed GPU cable socket (brand new 3070Ti). It's driving me insane.
Thanks for a great video this work for me My Original PC monitor didn't work anymore so I had to use a Samsung TV had a Windows update Where I wouldn't get any sound but luckily this video fixed the problem
I have struggled intermittently with sound issues between my smart TV and laptop for years, never knowing how to solve the issue. After watching this video, it has been solved. Thank you SO much
Fixed my issue the services and restart windows audio had restarted 3 times and played around but nothing work clicked restart and the film paused when I clicked resume sound was so happy thanks my friend. Whoever has put a thumbs down on here either doesn't understand or know how to do these steps or just didn't listen properly so got annoyed shouldn't put thumbs if someone's trying to help just because it doesn't work for you does for 99%
Had this problem after a big Windows Update for a while now. Restarting the Windows Audio + restarting the computer made the HDMI audio work again. Thanks a lot!
First check from which input port HDMi you are using Motherboard or Video card? !! :) if you know this in my choice of video card I forgot to update the Nvidia drivers and then my TV was connected to PC finally, this is not the first time this happened to me, but with every newly assembled PC I ran into this problem so to conclude update your audio and video card drivers! it can sometimes still happen that you have to change this setting of sound and whether this option is included in the sound source
This is superb. I got my Oculus Quest 2 and connected it to my laptop via Link Cable, and ever since then my TV wasn't playing any sound when I connected the HDMI cable, and the mute button was locked. I tried a few solutions provided here and there, none of them worked for me, but your video fixed the issue in just 2 seconds. Amazing! Thank you.
I had the same issue: TV not showing in Sound devices on Ideapad 530S IKB14 + Windows 10. After installing a few times a bunch of drivers, the problem was solved after I performed 2 actions: +1. Uninstall Hyper-V Windows feature: Start -> Turn windows features on or off -> Untick Hyper-V. +2. Reset BIOS to defaults. Not sure what is the relationship between HyperV and sound settings but I assume that an engineer from Microsoft has a strong case for that. Hope this help.
Only option I get is RealTek Digital Audio, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, updating drivers, rebooting, nothing is working. Video is fine, digital audio seemingly works (bars move when "test" is clicked), but no option to change it to another audio output like before.
Try rolling back the audio driver and restarting. Worked in an HP laptop with conexant audio driver. The device was having issue detecting the TV as an audio output. It only detected the inbuilt speakers. The underlying Intel audio driver could only handle external audio too. The latest driver of conexant was suppressing the Intel driver. After the rollback, it started working with respect to the output
Sir. You are a LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU. all the other youtubers made videos like "unplug your hdmi. restart you computer. bla bla bla." you nailed it. short and to the point
Worked! Also, you can do this by going into sound (just type into search), and in the first setting, choose your laptop or PC IF your monitor was selected.
This was super - worked perfectly for me not being able to play sound on my computer has been bigging me all day and this video was super clear about what to do so hell yeah
I have a headset and I messed with some settings. Now the audio is very low on windows but works perfectly fine on games. I checked my device and it says “audio device not migrated”
restarting windows audio fixed my problem immediately.. a million thanks! I thought I had to go buy another HDMI cable but that wouldve been a waste. Thanks again!
I have a Samsung 2015 model tv. It shows on the devices attached but won't default to it, and always uses the High Definition audio as default. I can use Windoes Audio in services to get it working sometimes, but it always resets when I switch off the PC. Is there a permanent way to make the TV the default audio??
Restarted the service, no difference. Disabled the device driver, re-enabled it in Device Manager, audio came back. I was locked on mute, and could see a audio stream was being received by the volume settings in Windows 10 (equalizer bar showing audio being played). I checked my TV settings, power cycled my equipment, reseated my cables, but in the end, ran the problem troubleshooters, checked the settings and in the end, disabling and reenabling the audio device fixed the mute being locked on.
@@blackmamba8955 Bro actually my issue was related to sound of the speaker of laptop itself, so I cannot say whether it will resolve the sound issue of TV when you connect your laptop to it.
A little late, but at the top of the device list, uninstall the drivers for Realtek audio or whatever yours is and the device, then scan for hardware changes, that also can fix this problem in some cases
I’ve had to install drivers but every time I boot up the pc I have to reinstall it each time and that takes several restarts and a lot of time is there something obvious that I’m missing
I have no sound on my computer for a whole year almost but one time i kicked my computer because i tripped on my cord and my monitor fell on the table and the audio input flew out and when i restarted my computer the volume came back somehow.
