THANKS for saving me $300 and a whole morning's time. A plumber had said he'd have to change the cartridge (cost $100) and charge me $200 labor. Your solution absolutely makes good sense using the cold water pressure to flush out the debris in the mixing valve. You're good for dinner if you happen to come by the SF Bay Area! 😜
WOW, you saved me 200 bucks and made my wife happy! it worked. i had already gotten a new valve from Kohler, installed it, and no new water pressure. Then, I found your lesson. Thanks!!!
My mom installed a new faucet in our kitchen last week and the hot water was just dribbling out. She was too lazy to figure out why so i did some research and tried several methods i found online for cleaning air locks all to no avail. I was pretty convinced we'd have to call a plumber until i stumbled upon your video. Im a 26 year old female here with no experience in this area and this worked like a charm! I thought maybe the hot would be coming out a little more than a dribble but its coming out just as pressurized as the cold! I am feeling so proud of myself, thank you so much!!!
You are the god among men. My hot water was flowing a heck of a lot less than what you had going. But, you method worked like a charm. I also followed one of the guy's below by stopping off with faucet flow with my hand. Not sure which one did the job (or both), but it is flowing really nicely now. The wife loves me again....for today.
Oh man, we've dealt with exactly this problem in our house since we moved in in 2019. Had it come up in the inspection report and even had a plumber by to fix it without luck. I just did this trick and it worked perfectly! Thank you!
This was exactly what I needed! Can't tell you how many times my husband took apart and cleaned the faucet nozzle only to have negligible improvement. We were talking about replacing the whole faucet when I "tried one more search", and found your video. You absolutely identified the problem. My hot water stream wasn't even strong enough to suds up the dish soap in the basin, now it has REAL pressure, like it did when we installed the sink 10 years ago. Thank you! Thank you! I can't believe I'm actually kind of looking forward to washing dishes tomorrow! (But don't tell anyone)
Glad you found my video and I'm glad you fixed your problem. I was also excited to be able to wash dishes with high pressure, hot water again. Washing my dishes before took forever and was a real drag that took forever. Thanks for letting me know my video helped.
This was EXACTLY what I had. I was very lucky and saw your video FIRST before watching a whole bunch of irrelevant videos. It worked perfectly! The debris that came out was exactly like yours! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Your instructions were clear and understandable and right on point.
This might just be the best video on RU-vid. You saved my sanity and possibly my marriage. This solution TOTALLY worked after we installed a new faucet and the hot water didn’t work. Thank you thank you
Lol, my father wanted to buy a new faucet and call a plumber. My brother said we needed to buy new hoses. I watched your video and fixed the issue. Thank you sir for this video, you saved us money.
I am so grateful to come across your clip. I searched/watched so many clips BUT none of them solved my problem EXCEPT YOURS. So, THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with us! ❤️
Oscar!!! Thank you so much!! Thank you for taking the time to make this video! It took a few tries but I had some pebbles blocking the line and the manifold. 🙏🙏🙏. I watched several other videos by professional plumbers and yours was the solution to my problem. Thank you!
Thank you, Thank you!! I could not for the life of me figure out how to fix this until I saw your video. One additional step I did was to reverse the hot and cold lines and flushed that way, seemed to get additional remnants of black plastic pieces out. Again, thank you for sharing!!
That is great news!!! Glad you fixed your problem. Yes. Easier to just replace, but not always neccessary. That's why I wanted to post this video to show that a faucet could just need to be cleaned out. Saved me myself money too and hope this video keeps helping others 😄👍
I tried his method and it absolutely worked. Saved me from dismantling the faucet and removing the cartridge. Flushed out a large chunk of scale and water flow back to normal. Thanks!!
Thank you so much for this video. I did exactly what you did in the video and my hot water pressure is totally fixed now. It has been low since I purchased my home in 2014. Wasn't quite sure what was wrong; I cleaned the aerator and everything; still nothing; but this worked. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing this method. I was cleaning the lines at each junction but the manifold was the final problem I couldn’t get to. This was perfect!!
You just saved me $$$$ and a whole bunch of aggravation. Pressure's been zilch for 9 months. One video and 10 minutes later and the hot water is back to normal! You rock
Fantastic. Couldn't be easier. Didn't see anything much in the bucket, but when I turned the water back on and put it on the hot side a big chunk of black came out in the sink. Worked perfect after that. Many thanks my man.
Bro I know it’s been a year since you posted this, but thank you! I’ve put this off for years and thanks to you I fixed the hot water pressure on 1 min
I have a property that has this problem, i'm going to use your method tomorrow! that's awesome. Looking at all the confident people who comment below gives me hope. Thank you
You are a genius, you know how long we have been putting up with this problem. I thought it was the faucet since it started from the beginning but must have sent particles up line when first turned on hot water shutoff. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!😊
Thank you for your help - my husband and I just did this following your video instructions and it worked perfect! Hot water pressure is returned to normal. Thank you!
These are excellent instructions - clear, sensible and thorough. Recently had a new dishwasher installed and immediately afterward the hot water flow decreased. The installation must have jarred loose some debris because sizeable chunks came out in the back flush. Problem solved in about 5 min. Only had to watch the video once to be able to fix the problem. Thanks so much!
We spent an hour trying to fix this problem. Then watched a few videos that were useless. Then we found this! 10 minutes later problem solved. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!
Thank you for this! I’ve been dealing with low pressure for years, just thought it was how it was. It took me 10 minutes and now have full on hot water pressure for the first time since I bought the house 15 years ago!!
Thank you so much ! You just save my day . Following your method flushed out a piece of plastic stuck at the end and use a tweezers pull it out . My hot water flow was to the point almost none exist . Your back flushing method are so smart but simple ! Anyone should try this method first before any other option may save yourself lots of time and $ . Great Job ! Mr clever man !
Thank you for your excellent tutorial! The one critical thing I did not know was having to flush the manifold by moving the lever back and forth. You saved me time, money, and having to donate to the Swear-word jar! I didn’t have to utter one swear word. Thank you!
When your video want off, I was like did it really work, but, tried your method for my low flow hot water on my newer faucet and it worked! Thanks much!
Great video, worked perfectly on our kitchen faucet! Did it twice and hot water pressure is now almost back to normal. Hot water was only dripping out before. Lots of black chunks came out in the backflush. Thank you!
Our hot water pressure was very low only on the kitchen faucet, so I tried this and black crap came out in the bucket. Works like a new one now. Thank you for making this video, it save me from almost buying new faucet.
Glad all worked out for you. I was so happy when I fixed mine the first time. I knew I had to make video second time so I can share with anyone that might need help. Thanks for watching.
I did this PLUS one other step: When I had the hot water hose off, I removed and cleaned out the little filter that sits just inside the end of it. It was about 90% clogged with I don't know what. I wouldn't have even known to do it if the filter hadn't fallen out in the bucket. Now the hot water flows at full force like it did when it was new. The plumber we had around last week said we needed to get a new faucet ($350+), which they could install for $325! These two steps took me fifteen minutes and saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you so much for the video!
That's is great news... Good job. Glad you fixed your problem. Sounds ike it was pretty bad. I had to post this video to help people out. I just couldn't keep this knowledge to myself. People need to know this. Take care.
This video gave me a better understanding of how the hot and cold lines mix in the manifold. My hot water in the kitchen and master bath were both barely a trickle. I completely closed the hot water valve in both sinks. Then turned on cold water, and then reopened the hot water valve, then turned the faucet lever up hot. Lo and behold, it worked for the bathroom sink. Went and tried it in the kitchen sink too. Full pressure and hot water out of both. Shocked, but happy as hell it worked.
I just had my hot water tank replaced, then my kitchen sink hot water flow was reduced, while cold water flow was good. I followed your steps and now the hot water is at full flow/pressure! Thanks for the tips.
Outstanding! I had the identical problem, also with a Moen, though my hot water pressure was lower. I thought I would need a new cartridge, but this worked! And literally took 5 minutes. Thank you, thank you!
I have the same issue although pressure is extremely low on my Moen when the faucet valve is in extreme cold or hot. I cleaned aerator and no go so bought new handle , no change since it was not the root of problem. The reason I did all this was my town home has thin cheap pvc water lines and my fitting are stuck I am afraid if I use to much force I will break the valve and all hell will break loose. I had a cheap valve break once and it caused so much home damage in 3 minutes. How can I loosen the fitting with out damage?
Thanks for this video, just moved into a new rent house and the kitchen had no pressure. Had to do this about 15-20 times alternating, but finally got it done
I didn't think to run the water out back through from the faucet. I just cleaned the scale blockage at just the end. It flows better but not at optimum flow. I'm trying your way. Thanks for posting this.
If you can block the flow out of faucet at the aerator,it will force even more water back through the disconnected water line while doing this. Great video, thanks!
IT MAKES SENSE! They mix in the faucet, so if you open the back side of one line, you have 2 openings for the cold water to come out, the normal one, and the back-flow into the hot-water line! Thank you, this was not clear from other "pro" videos on the subject! My hot water valve won't close all the way, so I can't remove the line yet, but hey, I'm a WHOLE lot closer to knowing what the job is in the first place! Thanks!!
This helped me fix my hot water! It actually turned out that the hot water valve was not turned on all the way. But I still cleared it out and checked that the pipe was also clear, which it was!
Dude awesome video. Totally fixed my problem. The pipe was partially blocked with three red colored plastics. Now I have a nice flow again on my hot water.
I put in a new faucet that had low hot pressure and didn't really think this could be the fix (because it was new) but tried it and Viola!!! good to go...thanks faucet guy..:)
Just came across this and I hope it helps! My hot water shut off doesn't work so have to shut the main water line off first so will give it a shot when I do . Thank you in advance for the informative video :)
It works! For my case, there is no water coming out from the red-tagged pipe no matter how I turn the faucet. But I did find some debris at the end of the red-tagged pipe. I removed the debris and reconnect, and then hit water pressure is back to normal! Thanks a lot for the video!
Just FYI to fix this issue for good take a drill bit and hone out the HOT WATER SIDE under the sink were the supply hose connects to the faucet in the infinite wisdom of ENGINEERS the put the WATER LIMITERS at the bottom connection in the copper lines if you take a flashlight and look up the copper line you will see a plastic and rubber water restriction device cheaply made of course just take your drill make sure the bit is much smaller than the opening of course and then slowly hone/ drill the obstruction out of the opening making sure you do not touch the copper line flushing all pieces of plastic out using the method you showed here you may need to remove the valve and clean that out as well the issue happens when your water temperature from the hot water tank is high and the plastic in the limiter starts to get deformed thus limiting the FLOW of water as you stated you did this once before so to solve the mystery once and for ALL.. just follow this method. happy hunting brother 👍🏻
Thanks for your video! You saved me a call to my plumber. I flushed out a piece of a rubber gasket. One suggestion, though, for an addition to your process: Turn off the hot water supply from your hot water heater (and also the cold water supply to the heater) to provide an extra margin of safety in case the hot water valve to your faucet is jammed or broken. (I learned this the hard way.) Perhaps another piece of the rubber gasket that I flushed out is stuck in the hot water shut off valve, keeping it from closing completely and causing a gusher when I removed the tube to my faucet.
