Yeah, they made him pretty laggy in recent updates, when I defeated him for the last time over a year ago he didn't lag at all with all graphics on high

And now I go to 1 fps on his laser attack despite having everything on low

You can always change the game's resolution in settings, but a small terraria game on a bigger monitor can be pretty awkward to play...

Same here, happens with certain games as well. It's not my pc, but settings maybe? My tmodloader is running is slomo, like a consistent, smooth slomo.

Same here! I think reducing the amount of content mods enabled will give the biggest fps boost so you could try that.

This is a fairly common issue, where after you open tmodloader, press crtl+ alt+ delete, and click task manager, you'll then see that .NET Host will appear as 2 .NET Host icons when right-clicked, and you can't find the right Terraria file to change the priority. In this case, all you have to do is reload the game, and repeat the above process. It could take a few attempts, but when you right click .NET Host, and you see Terraria, then you can right click terraria, click go to details, and then right click the highlighted dotnet.exe file, and click change priority, then set it to high, and confirm the priority change. It just happens randomly sometimes, but is an easy fix. Hope this helps!

​@@Triftseer When you go to details on Tmodloader, do you see a .NET Host Icon, or just Tmodloader? Depending on your version, you might only see Tmodloader. Either way, all you have to do is right click on either the .NET Host or Tmod/Terraria icon, until you find the one that says "go to details". Then you can go to details, and change the priority. Sometimes, when the icons don't appear in task manager, you have to reload the game, until you see them. You can also go directly to Details by clicking on the "Details" Tab in between the "Users" and "Services" Tabs at the top of task manager. From there, you can scroll until you find the dotnet.exe/Terraria.exe file. Right clicking this file will directly give you the option to set the priority. As long as you can find the file, which will be either dotnet.exe or Terraria.exe, you can change it's priority directly. Usually though, a couple of resets combined with right clicking any Terraria/tmod or .NET host files until you get the "go to details" option works. Hope this helps! Hmm... This seems like a difficult fix. I found a steam community thread talking about main engine crash issues here: steamcommunity.com/app/1281930/discussions/0/3823036783906126037/ Apparently one of the solutions found there is If you are running the steam client beta it will corrupt some files. If you go back to the old steam client it should fix TModLoader, if that's what initially caused the problem. It also links to another thread reporting the bug with possible solutions here: github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/issues/3456 I'd definitely recommend looking at both of these for further possible solutions if you haven't already. IT FINALLY FIXED. I guess it fixed itself overnight. But now I have to redownload some of my stuff lol.

Multiplayer lag is pretty tough to deal with... If the server host's computer is not powerful enough, then the game may be laggy, especially with more players. Of course, a multiplayer modded server with calamity mod is almost guaranteed to have lag, unless the server you are on is based on a powerful computer, like one that runs servers that you can pay to own. So, if you really want to play multiplayer calamity mod without lag, I would say renting a terraria server, from a service like Aleforge, which guarantees no lag, as it is based on very powerful cpu. Otherwise, maybe cut down on the mods, and have the person with the best computer host the world. Hope it works out for you! Respond to this comment if you have any other questions. Good luck!

That might be an issue with your wifi, assuming you've disabled all extra in game graphics, especially waves quality, you've changed the game to high priority, you've changed the game's affinity in task manager by unchecking CPU 0, and you've closed all other applications, there isn't really that much else you can do. Sometimes steam is slow because a reset is due, so you could always try resetting your computer, if you haven't already. That's all I can think of... Let me know if the issue persists after you've done all the above stuff. Good luck!

Well, If you've tried changing the priority to high, turning on frame skip, and disabling all the settings that increase the graphical output of the game (like water physics and lighting), than there isn't really much else you can do... You could change the affinity in task manager. When you right click on the terraria.exe file in details, it will show "change affinity" under "change priority". Click that, and uncheck the "cpu 0" box, then press ok. That might help, so I'd give it a try. You should also make sure you aren't running any other processes on your taskbar, like discord or java or whatever. Check if your computer needs an update, and update it if it does. My pc tends to run slower if there is an update available. If all that doesn't work, than your only other option would be to play the game in a lower resolution, or a smaller screen, which you can change in the game's settings. Something around the 720 range or smaller will give your game less to load (though a smaller screen is a bit of a pain). That, and zoom in as much as you feel comfortable with. This should reduce the lag, though you'll have to play in a smaller box. If that doesn't work, let me know. I really don't know any other solutions, but if your game is still lagging after all that, I'll see if I can find anything else. Hope this helps!

@@gysleeee Hrmm... This one's a tough problem, since I don't have a mac, I can't see the problem directly... I did find a quick guide on how to enable Root User on mac, that I think will get past the root privileges thing... I can't test it since I only have windows, but the guide seems simple enough. @@gysleeee Dang. Well, that's about all I can do... If you really need better performance, you could play in windowed mode in the smallest window, but that's pretty painful to play. Sorry I couldn't fix the problem... I hope you can get better performance soon

That'll happen sometimes. Usually, if you exit and reload the game, and check task manager a few times, you should see only 1 .NET host. Let me know if you're still having trouble after that.

im pretty sure that its supposed to do that by stopping the slow motion that happens in lag by just not playing the frame

@@raymondaycock6738 it skips frames making the game faster meaning your PC has to skip frames that it wants to generate making it generate more frames than it should making it slower

Okay, this is an error I haven't seen before, but there are a couple things you can try that may fix it. First, the classic, reset your computer (if you haven't already). Second, if that doesn't work, you may need to change your privileges on task manager for the task. To do this, right click on whichever terraria file is giving you errors, click "properties", then click the "security" tab at the top left. Next, click "edit" in the middle of the box, then click the "Administrators" tab. there should be a box labeled "full control". If this is not checked, you need to check it and then click apply, the click ok, then you should be able to change the priority. If you already have full control, and it still won't let you change priority, there are 2 more things you can try. The first is simple, type in "user account control" in the search bar, click the "change user account control settings" tab, and you should see a bar. Drag the blue thing on the bar to the bottom, where it says "never notify". This should give you even more control, and you should be able to change the priority. Of course, if you like being notified by user account control, you can always set it back to the default when you're done playing. Now, If this doesn't work, you can reboot your computer in safe mode by pressing f8 before windows boots up, and then clicking "safe mode". You can then try changing the priority in safe mode, and then rebooting the computer. I don't know if this last one works with terraria, and hopefully one of the other tips helps you before you need to try it. Those are all the things I could find. Let me know if this helps, and if your error persists, tell me, and I can try to fix it again. Hope this helps!

Well, I'd say turn waves quality to low in the in game settings. However, I don't know if it affects lava animations. Still worth a try though. Also, try switching to retro lighting, because I think it might remove the wave effects as well. Otherwise, you might look at your mod settings for a quality decrease. If a mod specifically is causing the lava waves, it might have a setting for it. If worse comes to worse, you could decrease the resolution of the game for less lag with a smaller screen. its a cpu problem when you upgrade your pc buy one with strong single core performance or mb buy one of amd's 3d cpu.

If you followed all the given steps, and successfully changed the priority of tmodloader's terraria game file, and you are still experiencing lag, I would recommend disabling all special effects, turning your game quality to low, and your lighting to white or retro. Zooming in to the maximum zoom can also slightly reduce lag. Otherwise, there aren't really any other options, aside from removing any mods that you don't need.
