i have only 2 usb ports, one works for both charging and data transfer and the other works for only charging, i tried this and t works perfectly fine now, thanks mate

If you're like me & tried everything to have it not work it's most likely a BIOS update that you need. When I bought my laptop I turned off automatic updates because I like to see what's getting updated beforehand. As a result I didn't receive a notification when a new BIOS update became available. Either use your pre-installed program to scan for updates // lookup your model online & see if there's a BIOS update available & make sure it's for your Windows version. (Hold Windows key & press "R" to open the Run app & type "Winver" -> Hit enter and it will display your current version). For me I didn't have to look online just used the Lenovo Vantage App, under Device scrolled down to System Update & it found the BIOS update almost immediately. Hope this helps because it was driving me crazy for about a week.

I’ve already got the latest BIOS verison installed but still my USB 3.0 ports on my Acer laptop just won’t work for some reason but the only USB port that works is the USB 2.0 port it’s so frustrating

Well, to help add to the weirdness, my USB C ports stopped working again about a week after the Bios update "fixed" them. No idea why. All other standard USB 2 & 3 ports work just fine, but the two USB C ports on the left just seem to have forgotten what they're supposed to do. No power transfer or data. I've since given up. I did buy a year protection plan & technically have until December to take the unit back, but on the other hand I don't want to risk the computer being wiped, or having them decide to refund & not return it to me as I have already gone through the tedious process of transferring project files & samples onto it from my older unit. The computer itself is nice & exceeds performance requirements, the only thing I really was using the C port for was an audio interface anyway. Still frustrating when you spend over a thousand $$ on anything & have stupid issues that shouldn't be happening. Probably will affect future decision to purchase a Lenovo. For the price-range there are a few directions I could have gone..

New Asus laptop, this method did not work for the two USB2.0 ports. I only have the one USB 3.0 port working properly. Any ideas? Windows updates fully done on Windows 11 after a fresh installation. I am suspecting possibly a BIOS setting or a setting in the MyAsus suite it comes with.

I Uninstalled that usb 3.10 host controller when I tried downloading it says windows not supported as its 11 so what to do now??

I Uninstalled it but that made it where I can't do anything since it made none of my ports work at all... what do I do now? I can't click anything? Did I need to have a wireless mouse? Maybe should have said that...

Did not work. Windows is up to date, I’ve gone to power settings an disabled the turn off usb to save power. Mouse still not working.

What worked for me was to power reboot the PC by holding the power button down for 40 seconds, then powering the PC back up. Hope this helps.

Didn't work for me. Bought and swapped out two brand new out the box Asus Zenbook Pro 17's twice now. None of the usb ports worked on either one of them. Corded mouse only but no flash drive, sd card or printer recognized. Asus advertises this machine as fully equipped with usb 3.2 gen 2, but in reality they're all listed in the device manager as 3.0 (root hubs) and the extensibles as 3.1. Weird, because there are only 2 usb A' and 2 C's actually physically onboard. Is the fifth one a ghost?? I'm done with this issue, will return them to the shop (again) tomorrow and will be avoiding the Asus brand for the rest of my life. I refuse to give my business to a manufacturer that apparently sells lemons. It's not the retailer's fault, they are a very highly regarded chain and have been me and my wife's trusted one stop shop for all our electronics.

Hmm, strange power saving is turned on still, whilst under power settings of windows 11 I already turned off that USB is allowed to sleep to save power. Yet in device manager it's still turned on. My problem was that USB randomly reconnected. Mouse and keyboard didnt but external hard drives did. Now with your "fix" in the device manager, I hope it does not happen anymore. So far windows 11 is one pile of settings that are turned on that fuck things up...

@@aldid.kurniawan Still not fixed to be honest. But it happens less and less now. I think it got better after a windows update but can't tell for sure or which update. Also strangely enough, whenever im working in GIMP (version 2.10.30), when using the photo manipulation tool: saturation, when sliding the slider of this tool, the external harddrive keeps reconnecting like crazy to an extent I just cant use this tool. In the windows logbook it keeps giving the same message as when it happens on other moments "Disk has been surprise removed" wherein the disknumber is always different.

I have tried uninstalling the usb that isnt working. my dad has tried a bunch of shet on my computer about the drivers (he knows much better than me about computers) we tried so many many things to try to fix this issue onm y new laptop, but we have no luck. only way I can use an usb on my compuer is if i use an adapter which connects through a non-usb hole. its getting so frustrating I can't even play vr anymore since I have no usb spot :D since my headset connects to that hole I use the adapter on and I need that one usb spot for my full body trackers. :DDDDDDDD I hate windows 11 I need to now find someone who is a professional and bring my computer there to try to fix this. I feel like not even god itself can fix my usb drivers at this point.
