I tried everything: New power cable, testing the hard drive, replacing CPU thermal paste, and even wrapping the hard drive cable in electrical tape. A lot of forums persuaded me into testing the fan/fan sensor, but the fan isn't supposed to come on until the PS4 has booted up anyway. No hope. Then I noticed a faint clicking sound before the machine turned off. I decided it could only be one thing, the Power Supply.
I didn't mention this in the video, but the PS4 will Beep once (w/ blue light) when turned on, before turning back off. Also, it wouldnt stay on long enough to access SAFE MODE.

So I had this exact same issue. I managed to get it on after letting it rest for 10 minutes but then it just kept happening within 5 -10 minutes of getting it back on. FOLLOW THIS BEFORE BUYING A NEW POWER SUPPLY: first, it's not a T10 torx security screw like he says in this video. I bought one and it was too big. It's a T8 torx security screw. this will get the bottom plate off the PS4. I did this after I had already ordered a new power supply off Amazon. When I had the bottom plate off in preparation for the new power supply arriving, I noticed the fan was filthy with that heavy black dust. ( I live in a very clean house but the fan still got very dirty even though my PS4 was well ventilated and never sounded loud due to a dirty fan. Buty when I play I do play for a long period of time. ) I used my vacuum and gently vacuumed the dust off the fan. Then I popped the bottom panel back on the PS4 just to test it. So far it has worked fine after removing that heavy black dust and has not shut off once since doing so. I know this may be exceptional and simply removing dust doesn't often solve issues like this, but I would strongly recommend trying this before spending the $ on a new power supply.

My PS4 gave me the same problems, though this solution only helped for a short time. Something that unexpectedly worked for me was simply turning the PS4 upside down. It's a temporary fix, but it has been working for me so far.

In my country they are not fixing it at PlayStation service so i had to pay 205 euros in order my console to be replaced with an another one which is refurbished while a new one costs 250 euros. Thanks a lot, man

Looks like the general consensus for options are: Replace the unit or just the power supply, open it up and clean the insides, hold down the power button for safe mode and try to reset stuff, swap the HDMI and/or power cable, or just smack it. The last option worked for me. Then for good measure, I unplugged and re-plugged all the cables, blew some compressed air through the vents, and let it cool down a bit. I'll post an update if it happens again. I wonder if some part of the PS4 can overheat, which unseats some internal connection (possibly related to the power supply, though the PSU could be a different issue altogether). An Apple computer in the 80's had a similar issue; it got so hot that its chips got unseated, and the official fix was to actually lift it off your desk a few inches and drop it back down (!).

i just dusted my power supply and it works like new, make sure you check for a burnt connection on the board before you just buy a new one. I'm glad i did!

It's more likely your HDMI cable folks. Unplug it, try the power, if it stays on, replace the cable.

That just happens when the hard drive isn't seated properly. pulling it out and putting it back in fixes it. make sure the hard drive screw is tightened so it doesn't move around.

Before you buy a new power supply open the PS4 cover and clean out all the dust on the insides including the fan. Also remove the power supply and clean the dust out of that as well if you need too. Always worked for me and it saves you $$.

I had the same problem with my ps4 after i cleaned it. I got very pissed off. When i was putting the ps4 back together i had problems with putting the power thing back to the ps4, it wouldnt go in all the way where the cable is. I messed around with the t metal things that stick out (they go into the power brick) and eventually it turned on. Make sure they arent bent in any way or the ps4 just doesnt get power

This sucks then the safe mode display on the screen comes on. But then when you select any option it goes back off. Why Sony? Why?

Yo guys I start having this problem a week ago and its scary so I have done a lot of searching and I got couple of solutions 1 clean your ps4 van plus check if your van work 2 unplug all cables and wait for 5mins then turn it on and see 3 change your HDMI cable 4 open the top of the ps & put 2 washers on each side you can find more about it on internet... 5 do what this guy just did 6 unplug all cables and wait 1 min at least then turn on PS then go to initialize/format then do it 7 unplug all cables and wait a min then go to safe mode not rest mode kk then reinstall system software So yh guys I hope this helps if i knew anything new I'll let u know.

All I had to do was unplug the power cord, blow into the back of the ps4 like a nintendo cartridge and then plug it back in and hold down the power button until it was in safe mode. Rebuilt the database as an extra precaution; worked like a charm.

I have the same problem with my 1215A model. I can't get a power supply right now but what I do to compensate is stand it vertical. Must be something going on inside that magically makes it work when vertical.

This is only going to fix maybe 5% of the Blue light issues. If you do not hear the fan when pressing the power button. this will not fix the issue. It means the CPU has come loose and this is not fixable at this time.

after searching for a while i found out that there can be multiple reasons for this . ones that i found out are : - your PSU may have a problem ( PS4 PSUs are extremely sensitive ) - APU heat-sink issue ( try the PS4 washer fix ) - HDD ( your hard drive my be short ) - CPU overheating ( clogged coolers , dried up thermal paste , etc ) -some even say it could be the PS4 power supply IC which is also a PSU related problem but people also say that if it was a PSU , the ps4 wouldn't even turn on , mine does . let me know if you have some other reason because I'm still trying to understand about my problem .

The Road Roaster did you ever solve your problem? My PS4 clicks when it turns on and it turns on for about 15-20 seconds solid blue light and then all of the sudden powers off and clicks. The light stays solid blue.

@@youtuberewind7575 From my research online, the click indicates a faulty psu, which makes you lucky, since reballs aren't 100% fixable. However, some people in the comment section mention that the apu fan might be too dirty. Open the console, clean it. If it doesn't work do your own research and if you reach the same conclusion, (faulty psu) just replace it.

A quicker fix that's worked for me and some Redditers is just tap the back bottom while, holding the back end aiming at the floor on your knee, gently! and gently plug it back in. has worked for a full 3 hours so far for me with no further problems as of now. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much I’ve been watching videos allllll day long and finally got my system to turn back on. I took the PSU out as just tapped it and shook it for a few seconds and reassembled the system and it works perfectly fine now. I got the system 2 days ago from my cousin to replace my broken Xbox one for the time being and it literally stopped working almost immediately.., saved me from having to tell my cousin I broke his system in less than 48 hours lol 😂😂

I would suggest -if you do not have a warranty- open your PS4 and blow all the dust/dirt out of the system. Sometimes the issue is dust blocking a censor. It's worth trying before spending $70 on a new power supply

The torx are the security ones. Meaning you need a hollow torx bit. Or a very, very small flathead will work as well

So my ps4 started presenting this problem 7 years later. It beeps turns on the blue light then immediately it turns off. I let it sit disconnected for a while and it powers on. Not sure what to do. I took my ps4 for cleaning once, a few weeks after that it presented that problem. I opened it up and screws were missing 2 of the Torx screws and BOTH Philips screws. are those prongs with the philips screws important for the power supply? I will never take another console for cleaning. I will do it myself from no on.

Turns out you have to remove the hardrive cover and vacum as much dust as you can. There is a problem with the fan. That fixed it for me.

I have the same problem with my ps4 pro, I opened it to clean the dust that was covering the vent i, cleaned out the old thermal paste and applied some new thermal paste i installed everything back installed the power supply back it powered on for a few mins then turned off and the fan didn't turn on. So i opened it up again and noticed that the two prongs where touching each other so I spread them apart and installed everything back and the fan didn't turn on and it did exactly what yours did in this video. Now I might just order a new fan and power supply to see if it might just fix the problem. If not imma have to find a shop that repairs ps4 cause I don't wanna lose all my data. What do you think? I would appreciate some feed back ty in advance

hey so im having the same issue, same blue light click off....i have a spare power supply i replaced it and it still didnt work, i did noticed that if i pushed down on the power supply it started the console up normal but once i let go like 5 seconds later the console shut off, i took a look at the board and nothing seems bad with it although it is a refubished console.....any help would be good thanks

iinthecutt bruh It sounds like the connection with those two prongs isn't secure. Its possible they may not be seated correctly. Also make sure that the screws are tight. Try pressing down on the PSU while tightening. Let me know how it goes.

It seemed to me that there was something wrong with the prongs that the power supply pop into , there is a black plastic that protects them on the mother board I suspect something under there could have been the issue but I didn't continue to investigate , it seems that too many people are having this problem but not one has found a real solution.

My problem is that it turns on then when i put yt it shutted down and like it had like a glitchy effect then it turned off. Then when i opened it it wasnt displaying the screen it just said "No singnal". Then i opened it again and when it opened , It immediatly crashed and had a glitchy effect..It opened when i tried moving the HDMI cable. Please tell me how do i fix this

I've currently got this issue. I think it's HDMI related. Last night when playing my ps4 froze up and the system would not reboot, it would act the same as you can see in this video. Today when I tried to start the ps4 it acted the same as in the video again, in other words my PSU was cold but it still wouldn't boot up. I then opened it up, unscrewed the PSU, I did not remove the PSU. Next I tightened the screws again and closed my ps4. Next I swapped HDMI cables (I was using an expensive HDMI cable with high speed Ethernet capabilities and 4K / 3D support). I removed this expensive HDMI cable and replaced with an old cheap HDMI cable it had laying around and I tried starting my ps4. My ps4 is currently up & running. I've been 'playing' GTA V for an hour now and haven't had any problems (yet). My guess is that the 'expensive' HDMI cable somehow caused my issue. I could be wrong and I'll post another reply here in case my ps4 'suffers' another 'boot-error' as shown in this video.

+Reppy07 A week has passed now and my system had this error once, right after when I swapped the older HDMI back to my 4K HDMI cable. After the error i connected my older HDMI again and the system hasn't crashed once. I know it doesn't make much sense but it is what it is lol >_

my ps4 has the same problem when i turn on, it will off again after 7 seconds. after i searched the internet for solution, the easiest way which works is you unplug the power socket from ps4 and wait for 30 seconds and then connect it back to your ps4 and it worked for me

ok guy seen a video that explains that Sony had a hard time creating the apu witch is the cpu and gpu are together. and if probably is not power supply the Souder pins are messed up. that's why the say reflow to try and heat the pin to fit the board so that it will work the apu is not replaceable so u may have to but a new motherboard or a new or used ps4

Hi I have a question. I have the same problem, but once it goes off, I got to unplug the console and plug it again for it to happen again. Didnt see you unplugging it to try again in the video so I just wanted to know if my problem is indeed a power supply problem. Thanks.

Guys before you go on spending money on power supplies try hitting the side of the ps4, with the power supply facing up, with just enough force. Don't break the damn ps4 just hit it hard, maybe it works for you. It worked for me after I read a comment reply here. TRY IT

Ok, I already got a power supply. Hope I beat Sony to the punch. Bought one as soon as I sent it back. And I'm still under warranty! So, after like a month, same thing. Got the power supply, going to try this. If not, guess I gotta buy a new one, fuck it. I got a job.

+bcut Guess what though? I ordered a power supply, and installed it. Did it the correct way, still didn't work.....went to Game stop and they charged me $330 for a refurb. Sold the old one, and it worked.

Louis Greenleaf I took it in for repairs, PSU blown, HDMI chip blown, LAN chip blown. All fixed up $110 later. At least the guy knew what he was doing.

i have my ps4 slim which whenever i turn it on it always asks for updates and restarts like for 10 minutes, until I keep it in safe mode and restarts it that is when it will turn on to the game

My PS4 just started shutting off a few weeks ago and then it wouldn't turn on. I tried a lot of things to fix it but no luck. But it did seem to work after unplugging it and plugging it into a new outlet but then it would shut fatter some time so I called Sony and they seem to think that it's because maybe your PS4 isn't compatible with your power surge the PS4 is plugged into. They suggest that you plug it directly into the outlet!

It's amazing that the psu is built into the ps4 and its STILL a lot smaller than the Xbox one and its mini Xbox power brick lol

It's also a helluva lot louder and in the same game the fans can start sounding like vacuum cleaners on the ps4 and are whisper quiet on the XBox One. Probably because the fan is larger and there is plenty of room for air to circulate and cool. Wait for the slims to come out and since they are putting the power supple in the unit like playstation, expect to see problems related to cooling.

What if it beeps 3 times then turn off. And after i unplug the power cable, and wait for a minute then i plug in again it works. But when i tried to play a games (uncharted 4) for like 10 minutes, my ps4 just turned off. And beeping like 3 times

Okay so I am having the same exact problem. I will put it in detail as much as I can. I was playing PS4 and it shut off suddenly. It wouldn't boot anymore, did the same thing here. Press once, nothing but a beep. Press again, blue light then shut off and that click coming from PSU area. I let it rest, and turned on after 15 minutes or so, then shut off. I now try to turn it on, light stays on blinking for like 5-6 seconds then shuts off with that click at the end. I'm considering in buying the PSU replacement which would go for $60 for me, instead of paying $160 to send to service. Do you recommend I replace the PSU or could it be a fan sensor (the fan does not start while the PS4 is blinking)

LordHoekage The fan wont turn on until PS4 boots into operating system, no matter what. Not being able to get into safe mode, and hearing the clicking noise are sure signs it's a Power Supply problem.

Did not work. Replaced Hard Drive, and Power supply. The console turns on, you can hear the fan run for a second, then the light dims, and it powers off. Pushing the button again makes it beep once. Occasionally beeps 3 times. Please help I'm tired of this bullshit.

I had that problem and I found a quicksaver solution, my problem was withthe 2 phrone things that kept the power suply connected, they werent fitting well, so I grabed some books out of my shelf and putted my ps4 upside down and the books on the top, it worked.

I took it to some guy who tried the APU reballing but he said that it didnt fix the beeping on then off problem and the motherboard might be done. But i dont think he tried to replace the power supply. What do you guys think?

Can somebody please tell me whether this condition applies to my ps4 or no.....cause my ps4 just beeps once when i click the turn on button and no light appears and it just don't turn on...if i continue clicking the turn on button it keeps beeping but no light appears at all nor it starts...
