Been doing this for 30 plus years now, done this a few times in the past. I know it’s a dirty job but it is one of those rewarding jobs. Keep up the good work. I’m able to sit back and watch since I just retired. A lot of guys never would have taken the time to do this, would have just tried to sell a new one. It should be replaced but it’s not broken.

If my boss found out I did that, rather than recommending it be replaced, I'd be in hot water. The liabilities are too high to do that on a 35 yr old furnace.

@adamrspears1981 , I am the boss, and I didn't see any Cracks in the heat exchanger. So it's safe for now. But I agree it's time to replace. The landlord won't replaced until necessary.

@@ADVANHVAC Then that's on the customer. All we can do is give the customer all their options. If their decision back fires on them, then it their fault & not ours.

Great job my friend , time to install a new 80% Ducan. I've had that same thing happen to me years ago with the soot all over a basement of a mattress store .

@@ADVANHVAC no more in gas if you think fuel oil stinks I think gas stinks too. I noticed they have to replace those gas packs quite a lot and all they do is keep rusting out.

No hard feelings my friend. One thing with fuel oil it definitely burns hotter.
