I am in complete SHOCK! This simple little task and fixed the issue of blurriness-I spent hours trying to do alignments, nozzle checks, deep cleanings and a simple few swipes of a cotton swab dipped in some rubbing alcohol did the trick! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video.

Listen to me, Eric Ruiz. You are 100% the definition of, “Not all heroes wear capes”. I have been having a real hard couple of weeks. Nothing has gone right for me, my ex giving me shit, struggling, etc. I’m sure this means nothing to you but nothing goes right. This printer started giving me shit. It’s the worst. My kids are printing more than ever & for the last two weeks I can’t print w/o the blur, the staggered lines on paper, etc. It’s been so stressful because I need to get the kids their things. I’ve wasted two of each cartridge trying to align the way the company says to do it. This ink is extremely hard to find & very expensive. I just want to thank you cause this saved me from going outside & taking a bat to it. My kids will have their work printed now. I don’t have to go to the ups store to print school work. Thank you so much! My printer wouldn’t print correctly and had an error message that I couldn’t fix even after researching how to hard reset. After dealing with this for hours, I found your video, tried it, and it was that simple! That little strip was dirty from a paper jam that had occurred before this issue started, I wiped it clean and it works perfectly now!
This video is great!. It fixed my Canon MX452 printer when head alignment had not helped. I cleaned the film with a cotton ball taped to the end of a small ruler. There was a smudge on the film and some other faint spots which came off after a few gentle sideways rubs. I dried it with another cotton ball. My printer has another clear film strip 1" below the encoder strip and that one is covered with black grease (by design I think) so it is important not to touch that one. As stated in the video, be careful and gentle when cleaning because the encoder film could easily be stretched or damaged.
Yes! Yes! YES!!!! It worked! After I used a Q tip to clean the film, it worked! I felt so relieved I stomped all around the house shouting profanities I won't repeat here! I am teaching in a very remote and underserved community, so know that your video allowed me to fix my printer and keep teaching these little cutie patootie's their ABC's! Muchisisisimas gracias!

You know when you watch a video,and read all the comments and think " they're all lying, they must be paid comments"..... this isn't one of them, this was my last effort before binning the printer, I tried everything up until this point, even watching this video i though " no chance this will work" .... and this solved it, thankyou so much!

I saw some smudges on that strip but didnt want to wipe it off unless I knew I wasnt going to do more harm if that wasnt it. I couldn't find anything that looked like my issue until this video.
That's strange! I was having blury text printing and I cleaned the metal guide rail and Boom.... No more Bury text! The guide rail is under the clear ribbon that your cleaning. I haven't used my printer for about a year and was having blury printouts.... Tried all the cleaning options with no luck.... Then spotted a video on RU-vid from an African guy. I also noticed a few spots of ink on that ribbon and I still have a virticle faded part on every print out. So I'm going to clean that next... Thanks man.
This worked very well. I had smudged some of that grease on the ribbon. I used a q tip and alcohol and it came right off and printed great thereafter. Thank you!
"OMG! I like literally...". Seriously, this worked on my Canon MG3620. You just have to find that film mentioned. When you do, shine a light on it to find any unclean spots. I just wiped it clean with q-tips before using any alcohol, printed a test sheet and it was good as new. Thanks for the lesson.

You Rock thanks for this. One note on mine the dirt was on the back side of that film. I used alcohol and a cotton ball as well and gently wipe both sides. Prints like new!

This worked for me! I think when I had a paper jam there was contact between that clear film and grease/ink on that metal rail. Followed your instructions and cleaned the film and aligned my printed pages perfectly. Thanks for posting.

my G3411 printer had the same issue, weird line and blur and the alignment was waaay off. I cleaned that strip with a q-tip with some alcohol on it, everything was solved
This made the waves disappear like 90%! My clear ribbon line had some smudges on it like grease. I used alcohol and qtips to wipe clean and it instantly improved on the next print. Now i'll do an alignment and hopefully that wraps up this frustrating process! UPDATE: Yeah it's like a new printer now. Can I send you a token? Paypal? I was gonna throw this printer out so you saved me nicely
