My husband and I had the same problem on our Escapes, both had horrible squeaks on front brakes. I took my bike to a bike shop and they put on new brake pads. No more squeak! Husband still has to fix his brake squeak but we know what to do now....Thanks for your videos, they have all been so very helpful.
With the help from one of your previous videos, I changed to a thumb throttle and new grips. Same ones you recommended. However I was not able to put the plastic plug in the handgrip. Maybe a little grease or petrolatum might help, but if all else fails I will just put rear view mirrors in both grips. Thanks for your helpful videos on the Hemiway Cruiser though as they have helped a lot.

Maybe a question for a future video: any recommendations on troubleshooting a Himiway bike that often stops giving pedal assist or throttle, even when you're pedaling or using the throttle? I checked all the cables that I can see near the front of the bike but it still often stops working while I'm riding. Many times it happens when I turn a corner or hit a bump in the road. Figured you'd probably have some ideas! Thanks!
I would always start with a brake adjustment as the sensors are notorious for disconnecting the motor. After that I would contact support for troubleshooting tips on the speed sensor. Following that it would likely be the controller. Either way support should be involved at that point.
Is there any harm in spraying a disc brake cleaner first to clean everything of contaminants? ,this is what I did and it solved my squeaky brake problem .Thanks great video on how to change the brake pads. Also the front head light,it is mounted to the front forks causing the light to bounce up and down with the forks,I opted not to get the front basket so I made a bracket and mounted the head light where the basket goes,in my opinion the light functions better and also looks better mounted up there.Thanks again for the video
Great videos I have a quick question I receive my cruiser yesterday I’m super excited! When I spend the front wheel the rotor rubs on the stationary side of the caliper. Any quick adjustment tips you could share that might help the Wheel to spin freely?

Tim, I wonder how long you have your Himiway escape ? My Himiway Escape was 6 months old. I owned several Ebikes ; therefore I had only 30 miles on it, but it had the same squeaky brake noise on the front wheel when applied front brake. Thanks for the video!
My brakes have sqeaked since the beginning. I too thought it was "new brakes." However why would my brake pads need replacement when I have traveled less than 20 miles with no change in the squeak.
U have any advice on replacement pads for the Cruiser. My front brake is squeaky b4 applying the brake. This is 2nd adjustement. 1st was easy , i followed ur video but i goofed somewheres on the 2nd. Im also due front cable
You would only need to replace them if they were contaminated with oils and couldn’t be cleaned enough to eliminate the squeak. I find that a good cleaning or two of all the brake components…pads and rotor…will typically fix the issue. If it doesn’t then a little sand paper could be used before considering replacing them. Hope this helps.
Hey there Tim, great videos. Need advice. I just received my Cruiser and when spinning the wheels I hear the pads rub. I have tried adjusting per this and your other video but still rub. Is that normal until I ride it a little? I have not rode it at all yet as I did not want to damage anything. Thoughts?

TT, I have a himiway cruiser. In your opinion, are hydraulic breaks worth the money if you’re an average cyclist? My wife has an escape with hydraulic brakes and I don’t see much difference in performance. What is you take?
Hydraulic brakes will give you more braking power for sure. But, me personally, I like the mechanical brakes. They are easy to work on and I don’t have to mess with bleeding or replacing the mineral oil. Once the cables have settled I have found that I only adjust them every couple of months. Sorry, I am just not on the hydraulic band wagon unless you have a need for the extra stopping power.
I'm working on my front brake pads, and I installed new brakes, but the brake lever is loose. What do I need to do to make sure the the brake lever is secure.
@@TinkeringTurtle After doing this do I need to bleed them ( left brake front wheel ). I made the mistake of testing the brake when removing the old pads.
@Calvin Tanner If you squeezed the hydraulic brakes when the pads were not on the rotor, then you could have ruined the caliper. the pistons can pop out of the cylinder and once that is done they cannot be put back in. Did it leak fluid?
@Calvin Tanner with mechanical brakes you should be fine. There is no “bleeding “ required. After applying the product, just clean the rotor and pads with isopropyl alcohol and re-assemble.
Yes the same brake pads fit all three bikes. Cruiser, stepthru and Escape. Those particular pads are currently sold out. But these will fit as well. amzn.to/3scAOr4
Change out your front sprocket to a higher tooth count. On the cruiser a lot of people use a 52 tooth. I don’t know if anyone has done it on the Escape yet.
I’m not sure what you mean by “B01S”. But the brake pads I link in the description of the video works on all three Himiway bikes. Including the Cruiser.
I know, I was just explaining that this video was done on the Escape, which comes stock with hydraulic brakes. I have not converted any of my bikes to hydraulic, so I haven’t done any research in that area. Sorry I cannot help.
@@TinkeringTurtle I’m sorry Tim. I could have sworn that I saw a You Tube video of you replacing mechanical brakes with Hydryaulics. I’m amazed that you haven’t upgraded your brakes to hydraulic!

@@TinkeringTurtle I bought these and tried to install them today however I believe the pad thickness is too thick. when i installed them they don't fit over the caliper. am I missing something or is there adjustment for the gap between pads?
@lawrence taylor they fit my escape perfectly. I don’t know of any adjustment to widen the calipers. Is there a chance you squeezed the brake handle when the calipers were off the rotor? If so you may have squeezed the piston out of position.
@ Lawrence taylor If the piston didn’t come out of the sleeve/seal, it can be pressed back in. Search RU-vid for instructions…make sure you press the piston straight in don’t tilt it at all. Unfortunately if the piston came out past the seal the caliper is likely ruined. I had another guy do that and his local bike shop said, even if they fix it…within a couple weeks it would likely be leaking.
Barring a caliper misalignment or mechanical issue you shouldn’t be. If this process didn’t work for you, then you could try brake de-squeak. Some of the guys on the Himiway Facebook groups use it and swear by it. You should be able to find it at any Autozone. Good luck!
