Ollaaaa ma dudes! Thanks for the support yes I didn’t remind tj to take out the kincrome giveaway! Also secondly axles are 300m rcv axles not crhromoly! 💪🏼💪🏼
There’s two flat spots on the cv. Turn them around till their facing top and bottom, then the cv will pull straight out. No need to take the top and bottom of the knuckle off 👍
Hey Macca, just FYI, I was running 140W in my Patrol with Harrop lockers . I had issues with the oil viscosity making the locker engage when cold in the winter months here in Brisbane. Spoke to Harrop and they recommend an 80/90 gear oil. I changed mine out and stopped the problem.
@@macpreston Hi Macca, can I suggest that you follow the manufacturers spec for oil.. it is very important. Oil is not just a lubricant, It is also a buffer. The " W " is the buffer thickness amount. A 79 series requires 75w - 85w NOT 140w. Some front and rear diff"s use different oils. I hope this helps.
Awesome video boys, super informative. Good move going to the manual hubs, those auto hubs just give you grief. Can’t wait to see the black truck in the Tassie west coast! Have a great trip legends 🤙🏻
Gday Macca & TJ, went over to Kincrome and sub’d, couldn’t find the comp form but joined up to the blue blood while I was there, the manual hubs are a good weak point, rather blow that then an axle or centre, can’t wait to see what happens in Tassie, it’s gunna be wild I reckon, top job as always mate, cheers
First episode I’ve seen and impressed by the ‘have a go’ attitude as I’m not a mechanic and nervous about breaking this stuff on the tracks. Been needing to learn this for a while so I’m gunna keep watching you guys.
Love the weld talk-through part Mac 🙌 good honest & humble pro’s who are passionate about what they do yet take the time for good basic honest talk throughs is the shit 👌 love it. Another ripper vid boys cheers 🍻
Genuine appreciation for this episode guys. Very informative and good production. Black Betty is just stunning to look at and under her dress it's even sweeter.
Us sparkies don’t do well with big electrical bangs I can sympathise , great ep loving the content , I’ve done a lot of stainless tig and a bit of aluminium which is much harder to control keep practicing ,I love the tig
Regarding your new gears, bed them in without any full throttle runs and the manufacturer state no towing for the break in period. Cool welding segment btw.👍
yeah look from my also learn as you go mechanical wisdom high tech wizardry I'd say you've nailed it with recommended oils and mods hahah. Epic vid mate this rig is next level!
There is way too much awesome info in this. Love the channel! My RC 4JJJ1 is bout to do some mods on this stuff. Diff/Locks etc. Budget build,. BUT, Landies n High expensive stuff is outta my reach.
Love watching Mac build his dream cruiser, definitely a goal of mine to do that in the not to distant future. only 19 so the grind starts now to afford it haha
Can someone tell me whether or not it’s viable to tour a lap around Australia in an LSA Patrol? Really considering buying one, or should I just go diesel all the way and buy a boring prado or hilux or something. Cheers legends. The more info the beyyer really need it. Cheers.
Anything’s possible mate! One thing we’ve just found is unleaded 98 is hard to find in west coast of Tasmania! Other than that should be fine. Also water can be an issue!
If you take the hub off and take the circlip off the cv and unbolt the brake calliper then you can just undo the kingpins and slide the hole lot off then you don't have to fuck about with the wheel bearings saves you alot of time
I use the penrite pro gear.. full synthetic in my diffs.. just a personal preference though.. the weight of the oil depends on the tolerances, climate and operation is what I got told by the company called strange.. they build centres for drag racing... On another note.. loving the content lads keep it coming.. maybe hit up penrite for some sponsorship🤷♂️
Random, unrelated comment., Next time TJ goes to sundown or any other gnarly tracks with Tyler Thomson, you need to go with him to peer pressure him into fill sending it.
