An update on my Hydroponic Farmstand, realized that my plants were dying since my pump broke. This is a must have if you decide to own a farmstand.

I've been able to change my pump just by taking the lid off, diffuser cap, and then reaching in the filler hole and twisting the PVC pipe up. Makes it a bit easier! In case yours dies again!

These pumps are user serviceable. These are the same as aquarium pumps, running 24x7. They pop apart so you can replace the plastic impeller for a few dollars. HOWEVER! Just like with fish, you should always have a backup pump for complete failure. If you have the old pump, look to see if it's the impeller (propeller thingy). They're considered disposable since you replace them many times before the motor dies. (P.S. that backup pump can be used for quick and simple water changes with a hose you leave attached)

Thanks for the info, I did have an issue with the impeller, I’ll order a few of those.

Great informative video. Thank you for sharing. How long did you have the pump that broke? Maybe it’s just me, but for the price, that pump should be made to withstand 24/7 usage, but it is good to know to get a back up pump. I don’t have this system…yet, because I want to do my research first.

Thanks, I’m glad you found this helpful. The pump broke in less than 6 months, I was really surprised however I wasn’t trimming the roots back then. These roots can grow really huge to the point that I had to completely dismantle the Farmstand and hack my way into it. This makes the water really dirty and clog/damage the. Now I make it a point to trim the roots every 2-3 weeks. I haven’t had any issues so far. Hope this helps. Good luck with your research!

What is the little black click button on the pump for? The one you clicked when you took the pump out?

Great question! That helps unlock the pump for cleaning the grill. Sometimes you will have some tiny particles(from the roots) stuck there which can clog the pump
