The kinkaku brothers add absolutely nothing good to the story. They cause the incredibly unsatisfying death of tobirama, they cheapen 9 tails chakra, they cause this plot hole, and they're completely uninteresting

Obito could've snatched every single jinchuriki when they were sleeping and no one would know lol. They would just sense some dude suddenly appearing and dissappearing with them.

Me personally I've never been wild about Obito being the secret leader of the Akatsuki. I'd prefer if Pain was the leader of his own group and Obito was just the devil on his shoulder, secretly influencing him but not the real leader. Kinda like Danzo and Hiruzen.

Obito's entire life is a plot hole. He was able put entire ninetails under genjutsu, but he didnt even tried it on minato. He has the best teleportation jutsu, was able to go toe to toe with minato, 16 yrs later he should have gotten insanely stronger & faster. He should have been able to pop up in any village & kidnap their jinchurikies. He has hashi cells, mind reading, genjutsu, healing, copying, etc. I just dont get it Kishimooto. 👍

In summary, Obito should have wreaked more havok and win the war easy and earlier. It's a literal mental nef.

Or Kishimoto could have stated that the partial chakra from Kurama and gyuki were enough to wake the ten tails but not use infinite tsukiyomi since Kurama alone is the largest pool of chakra the ten tails is missing.

Personally I think that Obito may have been planning to evolve Sasuke’s eyes into a Rennigan as a backup if things went sideways or to revive Madara. He had Zetsu with Hashirama’s cells like Madara used to augment him and a reincarnation of Indra. It’s possible.

Obito should have gone with Pain in order to attack Konoha and obtain the Nine-Tailed Fox to avoid the failure of the mission, not declare war on the five great Nation.

Obitos original plan was NOT to use just his zetsu army to take on the world before Kabuto showed up. 2. 8:12 Obito was NOT following the eye of the Moon plan just to see Rin again! Additionally, Madara didnt "Brainwash" Obito. He influenced him sure, but not quite a 'brainwashing'. So what's the truth on these points? *1. Obito's original plan* After Kabuto shows up with Madaras corpse, obito says multiple times in conversation to both zetsu and Kabuto that : "we have had to drastically change our plans to accommodate for you". In other words, his original plan was VERY different from his plan after Kabutos arrival. If he was going to just attack the exact same way, but without the Edo tensei ninjas, then why the fuck does he say his plan "drastically changed"??? Clearly his original plan was something "drastically" different! Now we dont know what that plan was, but we cant assume that his decision to declare war was a plot hole when we clearly dont know why obito originally did it! You have to give the show the benefit of the doubt, because it has, "plausible deniability". Meaning, it's still very possible that it WASNT an error, if his original plan is considered. *2. Obito's philosophy* The reason why Obito was executing the Eye of the Moon plan, was because he was trying to prevent anyone else in the world from ever having to experience the lost and suffering he did FOREVER! He was trying to end world suffering! For that, he was willing to make any sacrifice! Slaughter thousands, it doesnt matter! Because that reality will soon be replaced with one where no one can die in such a heart breaking way, for all the rest of eternity! You see, when Rin died, Madara taught Obito a lesson: in this world, success is not guaranteed! Sometimes people you love dearly die, and your dreams of being with them, become forever impossible! You see Madara famously had the philosophy of "use the darkness in someones heart to change and control them". The reason he chose to take the approach he did with obito was because he quickly learned from spending time with obito, that despite his constant hope and will to never give up, he never really found much success in anything he did in life. He failed at basically everything, yet still he kept trying, and kept believing that he could do it all someday with enough effort. E.g. He WILL become hokage, he WILL beat kakashi, and he WILL one day marry Rin! Madara took advantage of this: he knew that if he could crush that hope, then Obito would fall deep into despair! His entire world view would be changed with the replacement of his hope with despair. Hope: the belief that so long as you keep trying, anything can be achieved eventually, was replaced with despair: the belief that not all dreams come true, even if they are one of the most important things in the world to you. And that's exactly why he had Rin killed infront of Obito, and why I say Obito wasnt "brainwashed"! Obito still made all the decisions he made of his own free will (mostly. The seal on his heart also played a role), and he technically was correct with his reasoning. Madara changed obito's heart, not his mind. So obito now saught to end this reality where not all dreams come true, and where people suffer pain constantly, and replace it with one where life was nothing short of perfect for everyone! It wasnt about rin: he could revived her like he did madara. He knew about the technique when he was still 14, right after madaras death. It was about his philosophy. That, and Madara put a seal on his heart, preventing his betrayal, so he kinda had to play along with it.

I think another issue with Obito is the idea that he was using Nagato. When Pain showed up, his goal was made loud and clear; to make the 10 tails and use it as a weapon as a means of bringing together "peace" through shared pain. Obito later says Nagato approved of Tsukuyomi, but that was never Nagato's plan. The story gets really messy around the 5 Kage arc, and this seems like a retcon

Swag kage made a very good fix for this, basically naruto gets the ninetails extracted from him just like marara did and dies but then tsunade comes in and does the same jutsu that granny chyio did

People get so comfortable using terms like “plot hole” because of its gravitas on social media platforms, that they fail miserably in defining the word. If you recall, madara n obito consistently reiterated the fact that the jubi would become incredibly unstable n difficult control when revived with incomplete portions of guiki n kurama’s chakra, n if possible, they wanted to make sure they had all of their chakra. Secondly, obito had a deal with madara that prevented him from making any rash decisions with the jubi. He was to make sure madara was revived before any further steps with project tsukynomi. Obviously obito went in a little bit of a different direction because of his antagonization of naruto, kakashi, n minato. In conclusion, not only is this not a “plot hole”, not only is this not inconsistent, but the steps that obito took in his plan were perfectly indicative of the journey his character took throughout the war. But I get it, naruto misinfo sells

I like your solution to this problem, but like most plot twists, I still think it would need some foreshadowing, like some hints that the partial transformation is possible, otherwise it'll be a bit of an asspull to worsen the situation, call it diabolus ex machina.

I think they could have killed Naruto and Bee and resurect Naruto with Chiyo`s jutsu. Maybe Tsunade sacrifices herself to do it, since we would already have Sakura (even she was not as good as her master but still would give her more, since she would be the only and the best Medic Ninja in the field, and maybe have Shizune help her in some way)

Obito's main plan from how I see it is too collect all the tailed Beast, after creating a situation that let's him escape madara's control (meaning he needs a enemy to stab him, while surviving), and also thinning the people that are a threat. The war is to create a situation where he can free himself from the seal in his heart then he can get the tailed beast later, the war is a smoke screen to do that by killing as many enemy that can get in his way as possible, while also freeing himself from madara. The zetsu arm and kamui mean he doesn't have to do a direct fight at any time as he and the arm can appear anywhere. He's main issue is Naruto and kabuto(madara). They created most of the issues by thinning he's forces via naruto killing or recruiting most of the akatsuki, and theirs also kaubto who creates a new threat that he cant just easily kill or control thereby forcing him to move more careful and not able to control where his enemies were going cause he also needs more people to die, and weakened, while also freeing himself later on. You understand things more when you start to understand that he can't easily extract the tailed beast like how madara can(he doesn't have the Chakra for it), and he also has a seal from Madara that is also hindering him, and theirs also black zetsu who he knows/assumes is created by Madara.

Obito already declared the war and was about to execute Kabuto . He wanted to blackmail him using edo Madara but let’s be real. Even if he did, Madara would have freed himself out of the jutsu and fight alongside Obito. Kabuto would have to cancel all edo tensei if he wanted to avoid this

I'm doing a re read on naruto manga and there was something weird that itachi didn't do for some reason. Shisui gave his eyes to itachi, then why didn't itachi replaced his eyes with shisui's to awake the EMS? sure he didn't have a mangekyo sharingan at that time but why didn't he stored the eyes and then do the replace after the uchiha carnage? seems like a waste

Thank you for addressing these plotholes in your videos. It's like therapy for me. I stopped watching/reading shippuden due to story feeling 'too convenient' rather than smart characters leading the story. It felt constantly like Kishimoto was writing himself out of the corner.

They could have easily explained the reason why Obito struggled so much to control the Ten Tails was because it was incomplete. All the chakras pooled inside the Gedo Statue were not in balance, so the Ten Tails was wild and feral, causing Obito to struggle to contain it inside him, causing him to lose the use of Kamui as well. Hence why he wanted to make sure he completed the Ten Tails with the maximum amount of chakra possible, but the war and Madara breaking free of the Edo Tensei forced his hand and he had to make sure he became the Ten Tails Jinchuriki as soon as possible, nerf of not.

It's tragic irony. Behind Obito's all too human trait of acting suboptimally is Masashi Kishimoto, also failing to act (well, write) optimally

The way I see it that keeps it the same and solves the plot hole is that the partial transformation was a last resort because of the struggle to stay himself during the sealing process.

Considering Naruto's dad sealed half the 9 tails into himself(for *some* reason) before dying, snatching that from him to make the 10 tails happen would also work

You could also add to the story of why Obito planned for his enemies to unite nations for a great ninja war, is because the infinite illusion ritual requires thousands of souls dying in the battle field. And it cannot be teleported anywhere once the God Tree is rooted on the ground sucking the nutrients it needed. With that set of Rules, that would make sense for Obito's character doing these questionable things. And thus another plot hole fixed.😅

If Obito didn't cut off his arm after encountering Torune he probably would've died cuz bug poison which would spread through his body... unless Hashirama cells also offer poison resistence. Torune Aberame is underrated. He's the reason Danzo was able murder the Kagami grand son.

Another simple solution would be for Obito to NOT KNOW if the tsumuyomi would work with partial chakra only, and a suspicion that it would work only for some time. Then, imagine, he uses the tuskuyomi and everyone loses, he really wins... For 2 years, or something. But after those 2 years, everyone gets back, many actually end up convinced by the tsukuyoni, and the war becomes even more Difficult.

another fix when having both 8 and 9 tailed chakra pieces inside the statue. everything stays the same except one caveat is added. The ten tails is very hard uncontrollable as it desperately seeks out the 8 & 9 tails to become complete and this uncontrollably only gets worse the further it is from those two beats, so even if Obita takes it to the other side of the planet then neither he nor madara even as a jinchuriki would be able to control it no matter what. This way Obito could use his limited control resulting from Bee and Naruto being very close to it to force infinite tsukiyomi to work if he manages to keep the alliance occupied for long enough

Maybe the long distance kamui teleport makes obito go blind faster? I get if it’s never mentioned either way but it’s a head-canon that might makes sense to me

Why didn't Obito just use Kamui and teleport the ring to Mordor?

This is not on topic, but the whole Obito teleporting across the planet to cast his Infinite Tsukuyomi thing is one of the reasons why I don't like Gojo vs Sukuna as much as I did when it was ongoing. Because, in hindsight (especially with the showcases of Ui Ui and Todo), it becomes very clear that Gojo could've at any point in the fight just, teleported away whenever Sukuna expands his Domain (just like how Todo teleported Yuji and others out), and just return when his CT is on cooldown and his kit is limited. While yes, Mahoraga was adapting as time went by, he wouldn't have needed to expand his domain 4 or 5 times alongside Sukuna. He's only really need 1, after grabbing Mahoraga and teleporting it away and killing it with Hollow Purple, and then coming back to finish the fight with Sukuna. He's intelligent enough to employ such a tactic, so it's really annoying when you realize how glaring a plothole that is. Sukuna could have still won the same way, but this time, he would adjust his World Cleave on his own over time (besides, he even used a binding vow anyway).

I would have had Obito take the 8 tails halfway through the fight. Which would raise the stakes even more, after a while he takes the 9 tails out of Naruto, Naruto gets the half that Minato has, and Obito remakes the 10 tails, not knowing that its incomplete, for he thought Naruto had the Full thing. Bee barely does anything after the 10 tails shows up, so he is best utilized by dying to power up the bad guys.

To be fair there are other space time ninjutsu users, that could get to Obito before the 10 tails awakens even if he tried to go to a secluded area, also because he used partial chakra the infinite tsukuyomi doesn't activate on the spot instead there is a wait time which also gives time to his enemies to stop him, but more importantly you ignore Obito required to get rid of the seal on his heart before he could do anything big, otherwise he would of just used rinne tensei on Madara and get it over with, instead he was looking for a way to get rid of the seal by facing Naruto and Kakashi knowing one of them might do him a solid.

Obito at some point had control over kyuubi (after Kushina's labor) and instead of keeping it safe somewhere, he release it to kill Naruto's parent and other random shinboi. 🤦‍♂️

Now that you mentioned it, how does Kamui teleportation works? Does Obito just go to the Kamui dimension and... Walk to the place parallel to his destination before returning on the other side? Or is he literally capable of teleporting anywhere without much effort?

Naruto losing the 9 tails shouldn't have killed him because he's an uzumaki even if not full blooded the author had ways to work around that

Can Obito really "teleport", as in cover large distances though? From what I understood about his ability, he can only teleport into the Kamui realm, move around in there, and then teleport back to the real world, but he would still have to cover the distance in the Kamui realm first, to pop out in his desired location in the real world.

I am curious how Naruto, Kakashi, and Yamuto v Obito at 5:24 would go. They would need to figure out how Kamui worked during the fight. Naruto would need some time to enter sage mode. I don't remember how exactly Sage mode works but would Naruto be able to hit Obito with his frog slap by pretending to miss?

Now that we know that story, sure, we know more optimal ways characters could've handled things, but in the moment, it's not like they would know things would play out the way they did. Like, I'm sure we are all guilty of "oh, I should've done this instead of that" once it was over or beat yourself up not catching something in the moment that's so obvious thinking back.

But if obito really wanted the fight to go his way, it would be to Kamui Kakashi Uber Genjutsu him and take his eye back. For example, if he can genjutsu a junijuriki kage, he could probably do that to kakashi and if he can't well. Odds are just him versus kakashi. Odds are in obito's edge a little, even if both then can't use kamui. 15:27 They literally did that with Killer B, though right? Like 8T left a tiny bit of chakra behind for b so he could survive.

Obito’s biggest plot hole is the fact that he can use Kamui indefinitely without EMS. He basically spams it so much he becomes a one trick with it. He uses his Mangekyo ability more than every other character combined. Could it be because of the Hashirama cells? Maybe, but it’s never explained at all-like not a single line in the anime or manga explain this. Does this also mean that the mangekyo’s blindness is caused by physical damage? So could a skilled medical ninja reverse it then because clearly taking a family member’s eyes isn’t needed? If Obito is an Uchiha and he has Hashirama cells wouldn’t he unlock the Rinnegan and not EMS? Does unlocking the Rinnegan or having the potential to unlock the Rinnegan also unlock EMS? It just doesn’t make any sense…like at all.

i always wondered how Minato died with half the ninetails sealed and still had that when he was resurrected ... if a jinchuriki dies, doesn't the chakra reaccumulate in the world and eventually become the tailed beast again? so why didn't the other half of 9 tails not reabsorb the dead half?

It’s not a “plothole”, you quite literally explain why he does what he does and it’s because he is arrogant and thinks he’ll be able to get the full tailed beast chakra from Bee and Naruto.

I like the idea of the Ginkaku brothers consuming the 8 tails instead. That does make more sense. However I think a much better explanation in the final fight would have been obito pulling Naruto into a different dimension and Minato chasing them and getting involved, only for obito to catch Minato, and extract the 50% kurama that’s inside him instead of the half in Naruto. It would be a good moment where Minato sacrifices himself for Naruto, and also a good moment where obito finally outsmarted his old mentor, redeeming his loss from the night of Naruto’s birth.

I feel like 10 tails was integrated very poorly in the story. Given that the 9 tailed beasts are parts of it's chakra, how exactly could you summon it at full power with only parts of the tailed beasts chakra? This means that, you could theoretically have 1-10 tailed beasts summoned at the same time, while all of them were at full power.

I always find it baffling, when people complain about that stuff and call it "plot holes" when characters in a story don't act hundret percent rationally and always in their best interest all the time. While thinking about a story and character motivation is good and you should always be critical, even of something you love, most of the time people are missing the forest for the trees. First of all, if Obito just teleported on the other side of the continent and did the partial 10 tails infinite tsukuyomi, then there would be no story, no conflict, just a dude releasing a doomsday weapon somewhere off screen and winning. The story is not just about his plan and the steps he needs to do to perfectly achieve it. Obito wants to make a statement, he wants to break the spirit of the Shinobi world so they would accept his plan as an act of divine benevolence. He also wants revenge on the Shinobi system for letting his love die. He wants revenge on Kakashi, on the Kages, and he wants to show everyone that he is deserving of the Divine Power of the Sage of Six Paths. you can't do all of that by just executing your plan while nobody's watching. Also, Madara had his own plans and his own motivation, that fed into this. He wanted to be the benevolent god, he wanted revenge on the System as well, and to prove that his way was the right one, instead of the path Hashirama took. This is what all those fights and posturing are about. And that is just text. That's their stated goals. On a meta level, or on a subtextual level, every fight, every conflict is one of ideas and ideals. It is about different ways one tries to achieve peace - the Villains through subjugation, Naruto and the Shinobi Alliance through comradery, connection and trust, that is also the symbolism behind the reincarnation of Ashura and Indra ind Naruto and Sasuke.

He needed someone to destroy the seal on his heart He declared war before having Kabuto as an ally or access to the brothers, ntm he didn't trust Kabuto, and Kabuto literally in-text betrays him as soon as he finds Naruto and Bee. Wasnt it explained that gathering the full 9 tailed beast would make the formation of the 10 tails more complete/ stronger like Cell Max’s incubation in DBS using a tail of the 8 tailes and remnant chakra of the 9 tails (a more unique chakra compared to the other beast) created the 10 tails yes but a albeit weaker 10 tails then one with the full tailed beast

Obito should have taken Bee's chakra mid fiqht, thrown it into the gedo mazo and be surprised when the Mazo starts acting up and transforming. Like HOW does he even know that only some of the chakra is needed in the first place?? Bee could either die or just be grounded, I mean he was only there to take punishment and explain shit after all. Perhaps throwing in some kyubi chakra just to get the mazo stronger and then boom, Mazo starts screaming and transforming, Obito get confused, didn't know only some was needed. The process will take longer so Madara scolds him after for it.

Consuming the nine tails meat for a week is a crazy stamina and durability feat that is never mentioned no wonder tobirama got ambushed

While it is obviously a plot hole, my mind makes it make sense by thinking Obito did not expect Kakashi, Guy, Naruto, and Bee to figure out how to hit him so initially he thought it would be alot easier to capture them, but after they started to give him trouble he was like ok, efff this, on to plan B which was kingaku and ginkaku 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️… it seems more plausible when you think about it that way, at least to me

TBH, if they planned to whole spiritual 6 path sage and reincarnation stuff, they should have also let Killer B die as the 8 tails was extracted, then Naruto being kept alive by Sakura for a while, then sage-of-6-paths will buff Naruto and save his life even if he lost the 9-tails chakra, and have him and Sasuke fight WITHOUTH the 9-tails only Madara, remove Kaguya from the story of course, and then have them fight against each other. I mean, it would make so much more satisfying for Naruto to win or draw the match against Sasuke with HIS OWN power, not with what is pretty much HALF OF THE ENTIRE WORLD CHAKRA RESERVE. And yes, the whole taking half of Kurama in death with the 4th Hokage was also so cheap, non-logical, and just weird. I mean, I got he did this so that his reincarnated father is parallel in looks and strengths with Naruto, and it gave Naruto a 2nd life, but it just doesn't make sense, you can't kill a tail-beast, his chakra will just form from the natural energy. If 4'th could take half of Kurama in hell, he could as well take all of it, and not let it spawn ever again, which is pretty much against the physical laws of the verse. Also, the reincarnated Jinchuuriki had to take their tail-beast back from the statue, even if 4th became a jinchuuriki right at his death, why would he reincarnate with it? IDK it was just weird to double the Kurama...

Obito was doing fine during the war. Obito was probably counting on White zetsus to clone themselves as members of the alliance. But then Naruto could sense them. Also, Naruto chakra mode was completely unexpected by fans and even Obito. Obito was probably expecting Sasuke to help. Things didn’t go as planned and Obito had to improvise. There’s no plot hole. Obito just forgot who’s the main character. Without Naruto being the main character that was the key to turning the scales of the war, the fourth great Ninja war would have lasted longer and more people would have died.

Also they forgot about the fact that it takes days to seal a tailed beast into the gedo maso, and ten people, nine after orochimaru kept the ring, it would've taken like, a week for Obito to do it alone probably closer to 2 weeks or a month considering all that was left was the 2 most powerful tailed beasts, but instead they just instantly feed it to the gedo maso? Why didn't they do that at the start and save days to weeks of time? Shits stupid

It's not a plothole so much as Obito was working on limited knowledge that was already limited by Madara's perception of the Tablet which itself was manipulated. It was never a requirement to gather all the Tailed Beasts and this is explained in Boruto as they have a 10 tails not included in the tailed Beast chronicals of Naruto. What BZetsu (Black Zetsu) was trying to do was bring Kaguya back in her original form. and judging by the lore of the 8 tails being stronger than the 7 previous tails and the 9th the same with the 8th and below; that it makes sense in order to bring Kaguya back with the most amount of her original Chakra, would be to gather everything. It's not Obito's Plothole, but rather Madara's Deception and BZetsus Manipulation that concludes Obitos character development.

I think the "partial tailed beast" thing gets ludicrous at a certain point. Really? One tentacle and some stomach lining is good enough for two whole tailed beasts? Why not make em all partial? Just lop a leg off each beast and call it done? I feel like if it's enough of a piece that the tailed beast has thoughts and a conscious voice within the jinchuuriki, it should count for the ten tails. As such, I never understood why they didn't just use Minato's half of Kurama. Just have the ten tails happen after the former Hokage appear. Obito could realize he'll have less trouble getting the chakra he needs if he baits Naruto into an attack and his father swoops in to protect him. You don't even need to have Minato die per se; losing the tailed beast historically killed every *living* jinchuuriki, but perhaps an edotensei could survive.

Those are 20 solid minutes of pure yapping.

Why the 6 paths of pain dont use elemental styles like fire atyle or water style jutsus they would have been unstoppable

I like the idea of Obito declaring the war, and then just doing nothing. Stating something like, I have already lived for over 100 years, I can wait 100 more. How long can you keep your alliance strong and be watchful over your jinchuriki? At any point in time, I can wreak havoc in any major village with my 7 beasts and the remaining akatsuki members. Can you really spare the resources to bolster the 8 and 9 tails' safety. Like you form the shinobi alliance and there's just no enemy to fight.

A secret plan to kill Bee and Naruto would be probably better and more fulfilling. They could've separated Obito and Madara's arc because they are completely different characters. The correct line of plot should be Obito / Madara as the final boss and Obito doing a single mission without a war seems better. Madara as a master planner and starting the war would make more sense because he was the mastermind and biggest villain of the series till this DAY after all. Kaguya was stupid af.
