I have been dealing with this issue for MONTHS. It literally broke my sanity. I ordered off ebay and the wrong fan came and they told me the one I ordered went out of stock in the time the wrong one shipped to me. All the others were scheduled to come in like a month, after the holidays where I'd use this machine the most for gaming. I was at my wits end, then I found this video. I was SO NERVOUS to pop the fan out of its casing but I did it, found some dust and lubed the bearing and it's fine now. There is an empty silence where the noise used to be. My sanity has not yet returned but I hope it does with the silence. THANK YOU random kid on youtube, thank you. You helped where literally dozens of other people have failed.
did you put the oil where he showed in the video or did you apply it to some other parts of the fan? I did exactly what he did. but there is still rattling if the fan is working. It's 2 am and this ends tonight!
Size önerilerim: sesi hangi fandan geliyor ondan emin olun. Ve bilgisayarı açmak için ters çevirdiğinizde fan'ın yerine dikkat edin. Boşuna sağlam fanı sökmeyin.
I think I have a different model but the fan and heating look identical, I can't shimmy it out without bending the MB.... fans absolutely driving me crazy, but seemingly decides when it's gonna start rattling.
My friend, you just saved mr from all that killing noise. I had this issue for about 2 months. I saw your video about 3 weeks ago but i scared a little bit to do this. Also my model is FX505DU so i had to pick up the heatsink from it. But today i made it And now god damn peace is back😅 we love you. We do . And i appreciate of you for the rest of my life.
@@sunwx7364 wait, so the fan case doesn't need to be glued or anything right? just close it after cleaning? cause I heard someone said u need to glue it. please tell me asap 😀
@@munyenyo7534 I didn't need to glue it, it depends on how much strength you put when you try to open it, I did it gently and the pin didn't get bend. if you can't put it back due to strength and the small pin get bend you should glue otherwise it won't close, try to use black tape so if this happens again it'll be easier to remove.
I just did this like 10 minutes ago. I wasn't sure it would work because I thought that my fan had a problem with its rotational angle and that the sound was coming from the blades hitting the case. But I decided to try it anyway and the moment I started forcing the fan out of its magnetic place I found that the rotation got smoother. I took it out completely and applied some grease on the pin and now I have a silent fan once again. So thank you so much. Also, to everyone who's worried about the metal case getting loose after the process, once you screw it back to its slot, it'll be firm enough and won't move freely
Thank you so much .I have been having issued with my fan for so long and tried cleaning it but still no difference. Putting oil did the magic and I'm quite grateful
this is because your CPU overheating. Your fan from that side wear out over time. I suggest you do download AMD Ryzen Controller program, after you lubricate your fan. And set VRM current down from 45 to 44 or 43, and limit your temperature to 80 degrees from 105. It may help. My fan started rattling again even after lubricating. So I made some little pefrorations just against that fan and used AMD Ryzen Controller. So now my CPU works with temperature up to 75-80 degrees max. Sorry for mistakes, im learning English
That error on my Asus laptop brought me a lot of problems and finally, you have shown me the solution thank you very much (before I bought fans from Aliexpress)
I'm a total noob at this and I've never done this before. Also where I live, they take £50 to even open my laptop back cover. So I tried this on my Asus FX505DT. The only decent video tutorial for the fan problem is from this dude. I had some serious rattling and constant noise but with a little sewing machine glue for £2 I managed to fix it at home. ❤️
Bro huge thank you! I'm about to buy and waste my precious money to buy a new fan but then I found your video. Great help my fan is now good as new after I've done cleaning and greasing it. No more irritating loud fan sound.
Thank you, very thank you. The noise it was driving me insane and now it's so much quieter and better, may good bless your channel and give you lots of growth ❤️
I was sort of hesitant to try this, but after the noise becoming more and more persistent, I finally decided to give it a shot today. And it worked! The noise has stopped... for now at least! Just finished the operation moments ago. I'll update if the noise ever returns! Thank you for the guide, helped a lot! Cheers
@@mezzoedbey3802 I'm sorry to say that, as a matter of fact, it did, thought not as frequently as before however, for some reason. I've yet to try to fix it again, I'll comment here again if I end up doing it.
Unfortunately the noise persists. Currently I know of no other way, nor have I attempted to fix it again due to a severe case of laziness. Sorry to disappoint
@@candradwinugraha8237hi there a guy that was 1 year younger when you wrote this comment, i wanted to say that gluing and taping something are 2 VERY different things
With this video I managed to clean my coolers on my FX705DU, but I needed to remove the heatsink as one of the heat pipes goes under the gpu cooler, with this ocasion I also replaced the thermal paste which was total garbage and solid not paste, it took me 20 minutes to clean the damn thing. The hardest part was removing the fan from the cooler, I needed to cut all the tabs on the cooler to release the upper metallic plate, than tried to push the fan out like in the video and it didn't work, feared like I am going to bend or brake it so I found some thin tabs that could go under the blades 1mm thick (you can buy some of them in poundland in the gardening section) pushed 2 of them on on each side than pressed with my nails on the other side like in the video and the blades were out in a second with no damage. What I can say it was really dirty a lot of dust in it, put some oil not a lot but enough, mounted everything back, and used tape to hold the top metal plate because I cut the small melted plastic tabs used to hold it, and now everything is good and silent, but what I have noticed, the fans are bad quality and badly centered, spinning it by hand I could hear it how is not properly weighted and making a dragging sound in a specific point of the rotation. Asus used cheap fans. I used Arctic MX-4 as thermal paste, now the temps dropped with 5 - 10C which is nice, idle temperature is 35 - 37C.
@@StopTh3Idiotsdo u replace the fan? When did this happen from the day u bought the laptop? 1 year? 2 years? Its been 2 years for my laptop n the fan looks busted peehaps bc of thr dust or it is i dont know. But it doesnt make rattling noise when i rotate it manually. Should i buy a new or no? If only i can show the picture
Great tutorial. My FX505DD GPU Fan also suffer this issue, i have all the tools required to do this but i'm too afraid to break the fan blade or even the fan motor. Maybe i'll try it sometimes in the near future.
Hello, just wanna say thank you for this vid, my TUF FX506IU started to have the same fan rattling noises back in February and it was getting louder to the point that hitting the area near the fan no longer suppress the noise and only made it roars louder. My laptop have never been opened before so this was kinda nerve-racking to do. One of the most worrying thing was how the metal cover for the fan has to be opened, thus breaking the pins that were holding it in the first place. I got to the fan blades, pushed it gently until it clicks and then remove it from its place and lube the rod inside using the same lube/oil that you've used on your video, the shaft were also oiled like what you've done on the video and then i reassembled the fan back to the shaft. Fortunately the metal cover for the fan still clicks in its place even tho the pins seems to have broken when i try to open it from before, I screwed everything back to it's place and boots up the laptop. Needless to say, there's no more roaring or rattling noises came from that fan, felt really weird to hear it silent again after enduring the rattling noise for about a month. Thanks again.
I had the same noise problem, so I followed every single step of this free tutotial and I managed to solve the problem as well. When in need for removing the blades from the coil-housing, I used a flat-blade screwdriver (with feeling) instead of bare fingers and it worked properly (even if I guess two flat-blade scredrivers would work even better). I did not have any lubricating oil at home, so some WD40 worked fine too. The blades slits were also quite clogged by a lot of dust, so blowing them with some air was compulsory. Last but not least: your ASUS laptop is assembled with two fans. BUT DO NOT TRY TO REPEAT THE PROCEDURE IN THIS VIDEO WITH THE OTHER FAN!!! Its shaft is not free so it is very likely you will damage the blade-case severily !!!
@@TeddyWilder Yes you can, I just did it today. For the other fan (CPU fan). You'll need a small flathead to pry off the metal cover braking the plastic welds, don't worry they dont matter once assembled. And use plastic type of rod to push up on the fan to unhook the shaft from the bearing.
Thanks dude, it works on my HP pavilion gaming - 15-ec0101ax. I thought i can not take off the blade, the fan model is different but the blade looks same, so I think it's gonna work on my fan too, and yeah IT WORKS 👍👍
Thanks! BTW should I loosen the hinges? I think the hinges are a little tight on this series. When I open the laptop lid, I sometime hear tic tic sound. I think the sound is coming from the cover on the hinge. I hear a similar sound when I press the cover on the hinge.
Bought some cheap Amazon Fans.. NEVER DO THAT!! Every one of them fell apart in less than a week!!! The fans are made of a cheap plastic that breaks apart from the heating and cooling that these fans go through.. They are obviously not Stress Tested.. Thank you for this great video!!
Dude! i just did what you did (I used silicone oil) and now my fan isn't rattling anymore. I have never done something like this before so I'm really happy with the result. Thanks for your video mate, keep it up!

duuuuude NOW? I literally just sended my fx505 to asus service couple hours ago...i was waiting for your video release for weeks..But thank you though!!
I also went to asus service centers because of this stupid rattling fan, its been two weeks now. The technician said they can't fix the rattling problem so they said im gonna have to wait until the sparepart arrive
@@pal3294 they might change the fan but it actually might start making the noise again..they just dont lubricate it..so iam waiting to get it back so i can do it by myself
@@MsKaramba11 it is safer if you remove the battery first but i dont and i only lubricate the gpu fan since its the one causing the annoying sound. tips grab to something metal to remove the static in our body.
Bro wtf you scared me, im looking up how to clean my fans and all of a sudden the video started having sound and a sniff, and i'm thinking ahhh shucks my fans dead lmaoooo. Good content preparing to do the same to my fan before selling it :)
I started have a vibrating but the problem I had was simply some of the screws holding the fans in place loosened, so after tightening them it was fine. that may not work for everyone else but just a thought to try before you take the fan apart.
Yeah that would be the case too but maybe people went straight away to take off the fans and so they didn't check the screws first. After cleaning the fans they screw it tightly without knowing it could be the screws that weren't tight instead of the problematic fans. So both is a solution in the end but taking off the fans is more risky
I’m having vibrating problem now mostly from the left. Since it has 2 fans I assume it’s the problem of the fan. Does the screw inside that holds the fan using ph0 screwdriver like the outside?
