Dude first off great video. The quality was great in this and you got some good angles on what to do. Second I’m glad this fixed your issue on the car and the part is affordable. Great video Diego
Dropped 2 bolts in my bay putting on the ECS breather spacer.😣 great video. Pro tip, wrap the bolt and head of the Allen with blue painters tape when putting the bolts back in. Remove tape after seated.
Pierburg is reputable. Their dvs work fine and either way you can buy 3 for the price of 1 oem one anyways. So good purchase especially with lifetime warranty
i own a 2017 porsche macan 2.0. same engine. same is38 turbo. I've been having NO BOOST issues and my friend has an mk5 and had the same issue and they replaced the diverter valve and its good now. The dealer said the waste gate was faulty which i took off and adjusted with no change. quoted 4300$ to replace the turbo. I have a check engine code P00AF-boost control 'A' module performance. after having seen this through doing some research I believe this to be my fix. just purchased. I'll try to respond to this in a week when i make the repair.
It could be possible man! Possibly you have a cracked diverted valve on the internal diaphragm that controls the opening and closing could have a tear causing you issues
nice video great camera set up! props on FCPeruo suggestion! subscribed when you said you are EQT tune, ran into you by random but i will have to check out your other videos.
That is the byproduct of bypassing the stock air box that catches the reverse waves - known as Bernoulli's Principle. The waves have nowhere to go but out the same inlet you put on 👍
Hey, I like the way you explain things and you show where the part to replace is located. I find that my car sometimes has no turbo pressure. sometimes it pulls really well and other times it doesn't. I have tested the car on the computer, but found no faults. Do you think replacing the valve would help? I have a golf 7.5 GTI 230 hp
I wonder if a faulty diverter valve can be the cause of a sporadic P0068 ( MAP/MAF Throttle Position Correlation) code on a S3. I once fixed this very code on a Tiguan that had a charge pipe that was broken and "fixed" with rtv. The main symptom was hesitation during hard accelerations so I know a boost leak can trigger this code.
He more likely wasn't "losing" boost. The DV was venting (and it will do this at different pressure levels) and creating a longer boost build cycle; thus a "laggish" response.
Did you ever get like a hard shift at mid throttle from this? Per my tuner the car is opening DV when I upshift inappropriately, he’s not sure if it’s a software tweak that’s needed or a DV issue. I’m ready to just throw on a part.
I didn’t get any hard shifts tbh but the one thing I had happen sometimes was on full throttle at higher rpms I would notice that the DV would open and release for a second then shut again if that makes sense. After I changed the part the car began to pull harder and drove so much more smooth
Yeah it’s weird, mine is mostly at half throttle, it feels like a hard shift but it shifts fine at WOT. I can’t track the DV in the AP for the 1.8T so kinda scratching my head
Did you figure it out?? I have the exact same issues at half throttle. I threw on a FMIC recently and figured it might have been related to that but now I’m having issues hitting target boost and which led me to this video lol
Hello did you have any cel for the symptoms you was having ? Mine has 109k and I wonder if mine has ever been changed and if I should just go ahead and changed with the version C. Thanks
I did not have any cel but noticed the car sometimes under wot had a sensation as if the DV was blowing up for a sec and closing back up. After I switched out the dv the issues completely stopped and the car felt smoother and pulled harder
@@DArias I want to replace mine as I bought mine used and it's a 2015 gti I do feel it sometimes sluggish, also it's a excuse to get the CTS inlet tube lol. Thanks for the reply
Also been noticing this at around 3k rpm. But I have a turbo muffler delete and inlet pipe so that may be where my whistle comes from. Hard for me to say cause the previous owner did the tmd so idk how it was prior
I’m trying to figure out if my DV is going bad, you said the car felt sluggish and the turbo was surging. I’m getting the sluggish/really laggy boost along with pushing around 2-4 psi less than where I should be. Haven’t done any digging into the car yet but I’m hoping it’s the DV. Only had this IS38 on the car for a year now but I beat the shit outta it and make around 400 hp so I wouldn’t be surprised if the DV went out this fast. Lemme know what you think.
Reaching target boost will change based on IAT. Colder = Less & Warmer = More / just be mindful of that. When you have "laggy & surge" that would more likely point to the DV. You can also determine if it is the intake valves from an idle perspective.
Hahahahahahahahaha I almost fell out of my chair when you said "lets give it a good rip" and you like took it to 4k rpm briefly in 3rd. wtf bro. I drive my Passat harder than that with one hand up the on ramp to I75.... Also, in the same video you said the stock diverter valves are known to be junk, and that the stock valves are better than the aftermarket valves. First and last video I watch on this channel. Real Talk.
@@DArias I understand but i have a mk5 gti which is losing my a lot boost,am going to buy that diverter valve soon, just asking how much boost have you lost just in order to confirm it
@@DArias am loosing a lot of psi and am only hearing the turbo when hitting the gas paddle..I saw some oil on the diverter valve and that's why i think the dv is bad.. I can't tell from the noise because i have a turbo muffler delete
@@Benko_DieseLI think you are talking about the pcv valve on top of your engine between the 3rd and 4th ignition coil. You shouldn’t be seeing oil on the diverter valve I don’t think. That might be a whole other issue.
Okay WRONG, Yes you can remove the D/V without removing the inlet elbow pipe in order to get the bottom bolt. All you need is a 5mm Allen socket 3/8s, swivel extension, and a REALLYYYY long extension attached to a 3/8' impact to get it out.
Thanks man! And DAMN I’m sorry to hear that but hey an A4 is def an upgrade! And yes luckily this platform has easy access to the DV which is nice haha
