That truck is a legend owned by a legend. Andrew certainly got his money's worth and then some out of that old truck, but Andrew is like, "But wait! There's more!". Many great videos of Andrew and the late Levi and their legendary adventures were filmed in that truck.

If thats one of the many Dodge vehicles that didnt have in line fuel filters then the sock in the tank lets a lot of trash thru that ends up clogging the injectors resulting in erratic idle, misfires and many drivability issues. We have backflushed many of sets of injectors and cured all that and installed an in line fuel filter for a Mustang to catch all the real small stuff out.

The exploding muffler is exactly what is expected from a video involving Andrew's equipment. The sound pressure of the explosion obviously overpowered the microphone so we didn't get the full effect. I wish you the best of luck getting the gray Dodge running.

Of course many mechanics are just parts changers! On the other end of the Spectrum is Andrew's amazing level of ingenuity when it comes to jury rigging something! Looking at the dash really cracks me up! 😂 Some call that Southern Engineering! Makes me wonder whether the dash install for the "New" radio project with the chainsaw is the culprit! Andrew probably holds the record somewhere for the most numbers of trouble codes on dash lit up, but the engine still runs and the vehicle is still drivable! Glad to see Sam around! She's good for Andrew whether they are actually together or not! Lol

Common problem causing a severe vacuum leak on those engines is the gasket for plate that bolts under the intake manifold. Seal off breathers pcv valve & spray carb clean into the valve cover. If it's bad it'll suck it up from the crankcase.

Im fairly local to you guys, probably 40 minutes away and I do mobile repair, if you need help or advice, just shout out to me! The main issue was injector issues, learn from this mistake and dont go any further into changing parts and trying to figure everything else out, (possibly adding more issues as you saw) Stick to the agenda of the injectors and injection circuit! When ya go back, put everything back to the way you found it and start back from that point! Good luck brother
@DeusTex-Mex
@DeusTex-Mex Год назад
This is exactly what I was thinking, he was kind of getting sidetracked and approaching the issue wrong. After getting the codes, he should have first tested the injector circuit before spending money on parts. Also the "vacuum leak" noise is kind of a red herring on these and some other motors where the throttle body or intake manifold design creates a "whooshing" noise similar to a vacuum leak with the box off.

It is so nice to see someone working on a gas engine. I know the popular engine is the diesels. But their are still us gas owners out here that would love content on this stuff. I have a similar problem with my 99 Dodge Ram 5.2L. I have a bad injector. But driving it with a bad injector it back fired and killed the engine. Luckily for me I got it restarted and made it back home. But I have to change engines because I have another 5.2L for it with less miles. I have an engine leak at the back of the engine. So just going to swap it. But before I do going to put some goody parts on. Keep us updated.

Curious on the full history of the engine in that truck, has it ever ran properly in that truck. Im of the understanding that it was swapped into the grey truck and they never could get it running right. First few questions would be, compression, cam and crank signals, correct cam timing (is the timing chain clocked correctly and not loose), correct distributor and spark plug wiring to the correct cylinders, The PCMS do fail fairly commonly as well as the ignition coil on those 2000ish dodge v8s. I understand it basically feels like a frustrating waste of resources to resurrect a vehicle like that but I wish you luck.
