FIXING THE ND WINDOWS - Window controller MX5things 

I treated myself to this controller this week. Arrived very quickly from the UK distributor and installed in less than an hour. So far, so good.... It'll reinstate marital harmony in our house as I spend my life turning the ignition back on to close the windows after my wife has opened the passenger door at the end of a trip, with the roof still open.... The only issue I had was that when installing the two extra door wires for the keyfob controller, the main instructions said "Connect red wire to Yellow door wire and connect black to green", however a post on the mx5things forum said the opposite. And then I realised that the plug-connector supplied with the unit was wired wrong anyway and it swapped the red and black wires around anyway... So I just guessed which way to connect it and got it right.... It was a 50/50 chance anyway... (For anyone else, the red wire out of the controller should be connected to the yellow door wire - although because the wires were transposed in my connector, the red wire out of the controller was black by the time it reached the positap... (and no, I don't recommend trying to follow this after a beer...) When I was testing everything, the keyfob option didn't work initially, but after locking the car and walking away for a minute, it worked when I came back to it and has worked since... Highly recommended! This is exactly how the MX5 should have always been designed. Fingers crossed to that I'll avoid any niggles that have troubled others with earlier units....

Thanks for the interesting video showing this product...it is an annoying condition when the windows do not come up when you close the roof..and then you have to start the car again to raise the windows. This seems like a solution... interesting also that most of the wiring is already there by Mazda...pity they did not think to spend a few pennies more to complete the job ! Watched all your videos so far, very impressed. Best regards from Belfast , Ireland.

What happens if you are outside the car with windows down, and lean in to close the softtop? Arm gets jammed by the auto window raise? I assume there is a torque cutout or something on the window motors to avoid windows pinches as stock, but even then can see why Mazda doesnt auto raise them from factory. Still... I'll try this kit as I always forget to manually close the windows. Might test the guillotine factor first though.

I quite like the standard set up it's these little quirks that give it character. Anything that adds weight isn't going on mine.

The premise of this module is great, unfortunately I’ve had nothing but issues with it. Can you update me on your experience with it? I found that after initial, successful install (windows going all the way down), it began to misbehave. Sometimes the passenger side window would stay in the middle position. But the deal breaker was the drivers side window not doing the “small open/close” process when opening and closing the door with the top locked up. MX5 things have actually refunded my purchase price, which is much appreciated. But I would love to get other people’s experiences.

I usually hate people with negative comments but I was looking forward to seeing this “issue” being resolved. But I guess I’m missing something. Why would I want the windows to go UP when putting the top down? Wouldn’t you want the windows to go all the way DOWN?

Is there another way to order these the link shows out of stock? I'm in North America And I love your videos, there aren't enough people doing what you do!

I would make sure it worked before putting that panel back on... just saying.

Really nice add on. If you take the roof down when windows are fully open do they come back up or stay open ?

I wouldn't do this on mine because I actually use that precise middle position. It seems to be the perfect opening for medium-speed top-down driving, matching up to the work of the stock wind blocker perfectly.

I have trouble in my Rf, the passenger side can go down a bit and also all the way down, but it can only go up in one movement and i can't stop the motion, when its up i can't get it down again unless i use the driver side breafly or wait 5-10 minuttes🤔 Mx5things gave me a bit of a rude answer 'can't you wait 4 sec to use it again' well, 4 sec won't help and they offer to send me some 'update' to this feature (whatever that means) 'if it bothers me'😡 of course its bother me, its expensive stof and no one told me there should be issues with the passenger side

what does ND stand for with respect to the 5?

got anything that will keep the drl on even after i turn on my headlights?

muy caro para lo que solo hace, es mas util poder bajar todas las ventanas abriendo el coche desde el mando. very expensive for what it only does, it is more useful to be able to lower all the windows opening the car from the remote.
