Fixing the RTools Error Message in R

I recently got the following warning when installing a package in R
WARNING: Rtools is required to build R packages but is not currently installed. Please download and install the appropriate version of Rtools before proceeding:

I dont understand. I get that warning but then the package is downlaoded. Is that an error? how do i know my package is correctly installed?

It's a warning rather than an error, most of the time it won't impact your usage of R unless you are using packages that need a specific type of compiling. If you have correctly downloaded and also run the commands I refer to then you should no longer get the warning though.

So far, nothing has removed this warning, including these instructions. I don't know what else to do.

What's the difference between Rtools 4.0 and 4.2?

The main thing is ease of installation. See my updated video (assuming you are a Windows user) here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rSJX367HHh0.html They will have info of any other improvements (bug fixes etc) in the release notes
