@@Mike-os3pt Basically the voice Fjord is using it that of Vandren his previous captain. Fjord admired Vandren to such an extent that he for a time chose to emulate Vandren right down to his voice.
@@bartocblackwell3391 kudos for explaining Bartoc! I would have been like " ugh, its too hard to explain, go watch the episode blah blah moan, whinge but no, you stuck to your guns (percy would be proud) and you explained 👏🏻👏🏻✌🏻👍🏻🎉
God, I envy Matthew Mercer and his wealth of goodness and talent, but I especially envy that he can so easily exude the raw sexuality of nekkid elven rogue ladies. Ain't no class for that, kids.
Sexuality isn't that difficult. It's all about blending the soft with the hard: the delicate touch of your voice, your gestures, and the vocabulary you choose, with the strength of confidence. Look at how Avantika is both vulnerable and yet authoritative, seemingly playing with Fjord. She is confident in her strength, her command of herself and others, and has no shame for who she is. She doesn't care that Fjord sees her naked, because she knows it's nothing to be ashamed of, and because she's confident that she looks good, and because she's flying on the exhilaration of her new power (and maybe because she wants to rub that new power in his face).
Fuck, that means he has the energy to do as he wishes for as long as he likes, provided all parties involved can endure as wel- Why am I trying to over explain “he can fuck for a long time”?
It's very clear he likes his whole team more than he likes Avantika; I think he decided if he didn't pretend to be enamored, he'd give himself away; so seduced her to keep up the act after she got flirty. (still, I hate that he did that; I'm Fjord x Jester)
The thing is not so much that she's his wife, and he's fantasy game banging someone else. Because there was not only the brothels and sprite for Grog, but also Vex hooking up with Percy. It's different because Laura actually ships Jester and Fjord. It's like when Fjord kisses Jester and you see the happily shocked Laura's face. I mean she got the real deal a long time ago. She won over Travis, dated and wed him and bore his child. But she still got giddy over Fjord kissing Jester. Similarly it isn't nerves of his character hooking up with someone else because of his wife, it's because of going against her shipping. Like for example if he were playing a different character during that scene or another similar one, it wouldn't matter one little bit.
We also forget when Laura got upset at Travis for harming Trinket some time ago. But again, we also forget that at this time, Laura was more of an emotional, hormonal woman due to being pregnant and having a baby. Travis loves his wife and doesn't want to do anything that might upset her during a sensitive moment of her life.
His wife's character got into a romantic relationship with another character that was not his in the previous campaign, and he was supportive of it. Why would the other way around be any different? Especially since the two of them are actors.
@@piercingmoon24 Fair point, but we need to look at the context. Vox Machina: Vex was willing to pursue a romantic relationship while Grog just wanted prostitutes. And Laura's dirty mind playing Vex would lead to hilarity that Travis enjoyed. Mighty Nein: Laura announced that her character would purposely romance Travis's, which she has been doing. Travis, however, had Fjord kiss Jester with the Breath of Life and sleep with Avantika in the same session when Laura was gone. So he effectively teased her then crushed her hopes and dreams. Also, Percy was a PC and friend while Avantika is an NPC who could go either way. It's nothing serious but it is definitely going to be annoying from Laura's point of view. Hence, the couch.
The best line was just right after the fade to black and Liam said "Seamen Seamen Everywhere" and Tailison and Sam look up and say " , And Not A Drop To Drink" that broke me Matt And Liam
1. "Sleep well with your bad decisions." 2. "DO NOT QUESTION NEW MANAGEMENT UNTIL IT HAS HAD TIME TO TAKE FULL EFFECT!" 3. "YOU HAVE NO LEGAL AUTHORITY OVER ME!" 4. (Group fiddles with a puzzle sphere) "Nope...that's how you get a Pinhead." 5. "C'mon, ya fooker...we're gonna...I'm...we'll bring...COME ON...!!" 6. "Eyes never shut." 7. "I am your god of fruit...long may I reign." 8. "Would you say that your current management has failed you on a personal level...? Think about where you are son! Perhaps you should rethink your line of work!" 9. "Well, I do believe I haven't seen a group of people in desperate need of a good time in my entire life!"
10:43 I don't know what kind of eye contact that is? Is it "Oh your wife is gonna be pissed if you do this" or "Your husband is doing too good a job seducing me" lol.
To be fair tho, last campaign, Vex and Percy did plenty of stuff, then Travis and Laura had a kid. I think what happens in D&D stays in D&D, as a general rule. As for them using Jester like a mindless healer, that may be different entirely
I've seen all kinds of comments about how jester's gonna be destroyed emotionally when she finds out fjord and avantica slept together, but she literally grew up as the daughter of a very well-established courtesan. She knows that sex doesn't equal love, but while I wouldn't place my bets on Jester being heartbroken I definitely think she's gonna be jealous as all hell and try to one-up Avantica somehow, which is gonna be a trip no matter what
It's Ya Boi I disagree. While it's true that her mother and her childhood taught her that sex doesn't equal love, think back to the whole thing when she was describing the Gentleman to her mother. She sent that message to the Gentleman and someone said "you know that message probably interrupted a threesome." Someone replied that it probably wouldn't bother her mom but Jester said "Yeah, but I wanted him to be true to her forever." Say what you want, but for all her exposure and experiences, Jester is still very much in love with the idea of being love and has a fairy tail heart; knowing that Fjord kissed her and then plowed Avantika is going to hurt her quite a bit.
Considering the whole “limitless endurance” thing that all half orcs supposedly have, I imagine it would sound a bit more like thousands of ham sandwiches being swiftly and rhythmically disassembled. If you’re wondering, the sound is “flap slap” I checked
@@TheCorrodedMan Relentless Endurance, and you can only use it once per long rest But I have a feeling that after that night, Fjord needed a L O N G-ass rest
I mean, sure. Fjord's entire arc is about shedding toxic traits he believes make him more masculine, and one such trait is his somewhat adolescent understanding of sex and relationships, and framing it as a transaction on Avantica's part drives the point home that this was, as Cad says, a bad decision.
So we're ignoring that she had a romance with another PC in the previous campaign? Not some random NPC, another player whome was not her husband. Hypocrites, all of you.
@@cameronferris2614 If Ethan was _serious_ then, yes, that would be hypocritical. His statement was inherently ironic, however, and therefore is not necessarily subject to hypocrisy.
If we think about it, its the last card Fjord could’ve played to gain her trust. After lying to her twice, she might’ve had some doubts with the group, making their plan to walk away that much harder. With this, they may have a bigger window of escape.
@BookwormPunk For me it's not even that I ship them, though I do, it's just Avantika is literally crazy. Especially if a child is conceived of this union she might take it for some deeper meaning and hound you to the ends of the earth if you run off.
the characters themselves are literally shipping this. For now. We'll see how the scavenger hunt goes eh? To the Victor go the spoils. "Learn from my mistakes! "
Would be also great if Vandren being fond of Fjord, as they sank Vandren exchanging his life for Fjords. And that is how he became the servant of Uk'ouota.
With that being Clay's reaction, I would honestly have loved to know how Molly would've reacted. That being said, I absolutely would love for Tal to appear as a regular guest or whatever on the Critical Recap & simply give us an insight into how Molly would've reacted to key moments had he not died. Like, for example, obtaining the Mist/Mistake; Fjord's Patron becoming known; Becoming (reluctant) Pirates; Beau & Keg's "1 Night Stand"; Beau wanting to get a back/neck tattoo in honor of Molly. Oh, and most of all, Jester & Nott's own "Hospital Excursion" when they went to the Temple of Bahamut & barely made it out.
Melik565 yeah, bless him but it was kind of a massive brain fart on Travis’ part to not think of the eye on his falchion first before the one he ATE lmao
@@Idofphoenix I did too until I realized Matt gave both Fjord and Cap. Avantika equal chance to get to the lock once they both swam down. Like they kept saying...one damn dice roll.
Marisha said "make a Constitution check" and after a few muffled cackles I managed to spit out between howling laughter " make sure to add Animal Handling proficiency - ! "
So.. In my authors eye, I wonder if Avantika was genuinely lonely, putting on a brave face, or just using Fjord the whole time. It'd have been interesting if Tsundere Avantika was looking for a companion of Uka'toa, but didnt let on and played it all "business partners".
Aaron Anderson the opening scene of Inglorious Bastards, a Tarantino movie from a while back. Definitely worth a watch, the clip is on RU-vid, if you’re at all interested in writing, screenwriting, acting, directing, and filmmaking. It’s the role that earned Christoph Waltz his first Oscar
@@Museofmemory he did, for their first or second Halloween episode. That's probably what made me think of Geralt. I need to go play that game again now.
