FKT - Rito Alto 4 Pass Loop 

This is a video of myself (Stefan Schuster) and friend, Dave Braunlich running the Rito Alto 4 Pass Loop in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range in southern Colorado. The Rito Alto 4 Pass Loop is a gorgeous loop that traditionally starts at Venable Trailhead, just outside of Westcliffe, CO. The trail starts along the Rainbow trail before ascending Hermit Pass then dipping down towards Rito Alto Pass, traveling to Eureka Pass and finally, Venable Pass.
On the date Dave and I ran this loop, 9/5/21, we noticed the Fastest Known Time (FKT) for the loop was listed at 6:05 while some strava users had completed it in 5:46. Dave was able to snag the FKT by just 1 minute by cruising down the final descent of Venable Pass.
Overall, if you are looking to do this route, it is spectacular and very well marked. Dave and I were expecting a difficult/less well marked trail to follow as the Sangres are one of the less traveled mountain ranges in Colorado but that was not the case. The only route finding we did was when we were looking for the trail connecting the Rito Alto Trail to the second pass. But considering how well you can see the second pass in the video, it's too not hard to guess the directions.
