Hey guys! This is me trying my hardest to try to vocalize my understanding of minor scales and simplifying it in such a way that everyone can follow. Much harder than i thought it would be.
Look up minor scales online for more information.
Try using this decent theory site as well!

This is the first guy i've found that doesn't annoy or bore me after a while, I have a feeling I'll be producing melodic dubstep within weeks watching this guy. I lied, it'll probably take me a year, I'm bad. But still, this guy is awesome, was able to actually pay attention to him the whole length of the video.

No one is bad. Most DJ's / Producers have taken over 10 years to even be good. Trust me; because I am still struggling with small things. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be impressed with yourself.

Great tutorial! I Have something to say to the people who just started- LEARN MUSIC THEORY. If you wanna come up with some really good melodies, you need to know it! There is no shortcut. The best way to learn it is to play an instrument- which every musician should do in my opinion. But you can just learn theory which will improve your music production skills a LOT LOT LOT. Take care!

+Soul Stuff Library Any recommendations on where to learn? Books, screencasts, online courses?
@SmiechowyLudeczek
@SmiechowyLudeczek 8 лет назад
+Ben O'Sullivan You can check out channel on youtube called "Lypur" this guy has many tutorials about music theory and playing piano for free (also try similar videos on the right site) You can just type music theory on youtube and find what fits you best. If you like to have some physical book, you can try "music theory for computer musicans" Remeber that learning music theory is hard at the beginning, but later it will be very useful.
@SamirPatnaik

+Ben O'Sullivan I agree with Soul Stuff. Lypur is the best
@Merzaderz
@Merzaderz 8 лет назад
+Soul Stuff Library I found a place where I should be able to learn it in 1-2 days for 60$. I'll probably see how much I can learn myself though before considering that further.
@SmiechowyLudeczek
@SmiechowyLudeczek 8 лет назад
+Chrissweg I think music theory is a bit to complicated to learn it in two days. But on the other hand, proffesional courses which are mostly paid, are better then free tutorials (im not saying that free tutorials are bad, but in paid courses you have everything in one place and its explained very well) but of course you need to know if paid tutorials are good, chceck opinions etc. before you buy one.

As someone who knows most of this stuff, you did a great job explaining it for people who wouldn't know. Dare I say better than any qualified person has ever explained stuff like this to me. I had to work most of this out myself. Music teaching these days is way too focused on just playing stuff that other people have made for you, so many people miss these building blocks. The magic comes when you find ways you can break the rules without ruining the way it sounds.

Wow this is a really good video. Not only did it help me become better at FL Studio. But it actually helped me understand music theory (keys in particular) a lot better. So much better than the 100s of other videos that just talk about bland theory concepts. This video actually put that theory in application. Well done my friend!

Thank you. This is exactly the kind of information I've spent the last hour trying to find. Many "tutorials" (I hate that word for some reason) seem to give a lot of information about what FL Studio does without giving actual guidelines on how to arrange all your notes so everything comes together properly. The plugin you used to create grey the grey bars to keep yourself in tune is a fantastic help!
@aznxinva5ian
@aznxinva5ian 10 лет назад
To get the grey bars, click on the arrow in the top left of the piano roll > Helpers > Ghost Channels. Then clone the piano sequencer and you'll see the ghost notes.

23:37 The reason that it makes sense for b natural to be a part of the melody is because this is in the key of c minor and the b natural makes it c harmonic minor, creating that leading tone back to c.

It's a good tutorial, but to anyone watching this who is starting out, it is extremely oversimplified in terms of music theory. If you really want to learn how to make interesting and musical melodies, whether bass or not, LEARN THEORY. Don't just start on the tonic because it's simple. It makes sense in terms of this tutorial, but learn some theory. He says things like 'it doesn't really matter what note you hit' - but that's not true in the slightest really.

I've watched lot of fl studio tutorials on RU-vid, but you are maybe the first guy, that explained a very little bit of the music theory, and not just added notes and play the whole thing. I must say, that finally it make sense to other people, that haven't ever studied music, I think. Nice job. And for those, that just wanna make epic music in fl, and don't know about what the fack is music theory all about, go and slap yourselves...

This was well done for someone who openly admits to not having a formal music background. I watched this because I am very interested in becoming a beast in FL Studio & I happen to have a very extensive formal music background and I took quite a bit from this. Thanks. Just to add, the scale you're teaching here is the NATURAL MINOR SCALE. So if someone doesn't want to remember the flat this, not that etc, then they can google Natural Minor Scale and find the actual notes for a certain key.
