That was a great wrap! I had always danced it in a 12 beats starting on 1, and switched to a school that starts...on 2! The 6 beats count is indeed interesting, once you know what you're doing! ;)

Fascinating! Counting the Compás in 12 makes it much less arbitrary and confusing. I originally learned to start on 8 (always weird), but I can see how starting on 1 can help with staying en Compás. Excellent work!

Love your videos! Just wanted to let you know that there’s a problem with the audio level in this video. It’s much quieter and hard to hear even with volume all the way up. Maybe remix it?

You are great for providing such insightful information. So, is 6/4 the best alternative to notate Seguiriyas? I guess it makes sense because that extra quarter would give you room to make beats 4 and 5 longer, you'd just have to beam all the beats correctly, am I right? But I've seen transcriptions that altenate between 3/4 and 6/8 time as you would do in Bulerías or Soleá. Don't really know which one would be the best choice. Anyways, great lesson man, keep it going!

Thanks! 6/4 is convenient as long you keep track of the accents of siguiriya. 3/4 would actually make it weird (starting on the 6 of the clock). A more “academic” way would be: 2/4+2/4+3/4+3/4+2/4, but it’s a crazy notation and makes it unreadable 😅
