1982...An interesting year. Alot of good movies, music & tv. Not to mention the general goings-on in the world. I was 12 and still remember some events; the plane crashing in the Potomac, commercials ( even the musical jingle ) for the 1982 World Fair, Michael Jacksons THRILLER , the Falkland islands invasion and my mom dying from an aneurysm. I had pretty much given up on television and pop music in '82, but I _did_ go to the movies a lot. In addition to the films that you menioned, I also greatly enjoyed _Conan the Barbarian, Creepshow, Poltergeist_ and _The Road Warrior._ Plus two delightful off-beat films came out that year, the black comedy _Eating Raoul_ and the French crime drama _Diva_ , as well as the all but forgotten martial arts film _The Challenge._ And of course Stallone gave us _First Blood_ and _Rocky III_ introducing Mister T. Really a fun year at the movie houses.

Poltergeist gave me nightmares. It was that stupid clown doll that did it to me! I also remember Eating Raoul very well. It was a pretty funny film. Actually, as I look at your list, the only film that I didn't see that year was Diva.

Ah....1982, I remember it well! Spent a lot of time in the neighborhood arcade, in the long gone A & W drive in burger joint. Went to a few drive in movies in the city north of my small town. Also, played football, worked at one of the town's grocery stores and had my first driver's license. Remember all the movies you referenced, although, never saw ET, just aware it was released and that it waa a huge hit.

The biggest soundtrack hit from a movie in 1982 was "Eye of the Tiger." It spent 6 weeks at #1. "Rocky 3," "The Thing," "Star Trek 2," "E.T,", "On Golden Pond," "Poltergeist," "Officer and a Gentleman," "The Road Warrior," "Tron," "Conan the Barbarian," "Blade Runner," "Firefox,"....... Great episode, Dave. 1982 was my second sophomore year of high school. It was so much better than my first sophomore year! I didn't watch much TV in the 80's, but I had a second-run, 99-cent movie theater on block and another cheap theater a mile away. Movies were also my refuge, like Star Trek II, Conan the Barbarian, The Road Warrior, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Thing and Cat People. I also wasted a lot of time watching eMpTy Vee and got a scar on my neck from some "urban exploration." Yes, I also had the hots for Olivia Newton-John and saw her at The Hartford Civic Center that year, too!

Everytime I was in town at a relatives I had to watch cable tv I thought it was the greatest thing ever until we got a big satellite dish that had to change position Everytime you picked a different satellite. My favorite memory from 1982 is when Nickelodeon debuted The Tomorrow People in October of that year. It became my favorite show on that channel, and I watched it faithfully until they took it off the air a few years later. The show had originally aired on ITV in England from 1973 to 1979 and was their counter to the BBC’s Doctor Who. Since Nickelodeon was still such a new channel at the time, they brought in a lot of shows from other countries and The Tomorrow People was one of them. Thankfully I found, not only the channel, but the amazing programs they offered back then. (It was a completely different network back then, if you can believe it the shows were actually good!)
