Adina Miles, CEO of Flatbush Media with an Insta-famous persona "Flatbush Girl", works to provide social media marketing services to businesses in the Orthodox Jewish community who have little to no social media experience.
As the controversy of smartphone usage within Brooklyn's Orthodox Communities grows, Adina's "Flatbush Girl" persona aims to create commentary on identity and feminism, provide comedic relief to her followers, and encourage others to feel comfortable being themselves.

A total misrepresentation of the orthodox community. Just to set the record straight, fifty percent of the community are smartphone users. Btw, those signs shown in the video do not reflect the views of mainstream orthodoxy they are by a couple of fanatics. Those who chose not to have smartphones are the happier and more individualistic ones. They have much more time to focus on themselves as opposed to social media addicts who are busy comparing themselves to every Tom, Dick and Harry on the web. It’s no surprise why so many successful people even in the secular world have chosen to give up their smartphones, they are sick and tired of it. Evanka Trump said in an interview that one of the beauties of the sabbath is that all phones are shut and she can bond with her kids. I personally own a smartphone for business purposes but I still envy my colleagues who don’t. Flatbush girl you are really missing out. Why don’t you take a step back to live without a smartphone for a while so you can bond with yourself. Then you will be able to post a video on the positives of not having one. (Btw I think you would do a great job)

What difference does it make if 50% or zero % are smartphone users? The woman in the video is trying to paint TORAH JEWS up as backwater luddites. Every person has a choice and if frum Jews choose not to have a cell phone (or smart phone) there isn't anything wrong with that.

When she said orthodox I think she meant Hasidic which has specific requirements to be accepted in the community ie no tv so smartphone or it shpuld have a filter dress and behave modestly etc

I am jewish and become baal teshuva around 19, im 31 now. I have never fully understood the mentality of the frum from birth crowd. Its like they only take people in their own community seriously, and they instill this paranoia in each other that the outside world is evil. Don't use technology, don't hang out with non jews, they even discriminate against me because my father is not jewish ( my mother is, so I am a jew). I even understand in Israel they do not want to contribute to society like by joining the army, but they have no problem living there and benefiting from welfare funds. I am Jewish and follow the same religion, I learn the same torah, eat the same kosher, but I feel like a different species almost. I don't see the evil of having a smart phone, of having a non jewish friend, of experiencing other ways of life. But I guess I cannot judge, we were raised differently. To me the power of torah is able to utilize everything in the world for the better, and is nothing to run away from.

I don't know what 'ffb' communities you are referring to. How can you make such a generalist ,prejudice statement,and say it applies to most frum communities,most are NOT like that,you have been unfortunate to see a few frum communities,but there are so many all over the world, that do not behave in such a way

@@stormbytes what about the Mishna that says you should not judge your fellow until you reach their place ( pirkei avos chapter 2, Mishna 4). Or what about what David Hamelech said in tehillim 119 " from all my teachers I became wise.

Wow! you are probably one of the first people to ever agree with me. I heard in Williamsburg you're considered a bad person if you have a phone, I think that's just terrible. Don't listen to the hate, you believe what you want to belive and don't let anyone stop you.

So happy to a Jewish woman doing something for the society. I respect Jews but I can not see how the Orthodox Jews represent God almighty by the way they live. מאה שערים‎‎, Mea She'arim is the dirtiest place I have ever visited. I believe Torah does not teach this way!
@chavafrenkel8009
@chavafrenkel8009 3 года назад
@Jenny Chuang You're totally right! Mea shearim is not the place of real Torah. They made up so many rules and they hate everyone who is not like them. I saw that with my own eyes.... That is not what God wants from us Jews!...
