Oh, my mom buys wood chips and hay bales from a local farmer. For us we get 1 huge hale bale ($5.00) and 2 huge bags of wood chips (it's about 20 pounds, and have no idea how much is in it and that costs about $20.00 for 2).. My cage is 4 by 2 and the chips I get about 7-8 changes. It is more to get it, but anything to make my mom happy and to let me keep them, she will do anything!

Seymour is too funny! Must be the centre of attention at ALL times! This was an excellent video! I love bedding for vacations but it is sooooo expensive! It cost me about $60 just for the 3 weeks the boys were on it because of the size of their cage. The boys are so cute, I loved seeing them as well as all of your adorable cage liner patterns! :)

Here is a thrifty alternative to fleece....I think synthetic bed sheets can be used instead of fleece since synthetic fabrics also allow fluids to flow through into absorbant cotton material underneath. A piggy owner might want to experiment with the idea. Used sheets can be bought at Goodwill and probably cotton towels as well.

I have 3 carrien terriers like Yorkes but hunt more if you go on amazon and search Guinea habit plus it has a divider, top and bottom wire thung and canvas bottom it has 9 square ft. Of room it's great I put on the top at night when I leave and close my door tight when I'm in my house it cost about 100 to get it to Canada but SOOOO worth it i love it and so do my pigs it fits two pigs great ! Hope you check it out ps it almost like a c and c cage witch I Cannot find

I suggest to get some bales of hay.I compost their waste.Also old towels on wires keep draft out in winter.My guineas are squeaky clean.I find in summer expellations from antsnests (chaff from seedpods) that's terrific good bedding.My guineas are so cute all snuggled up,sometines I wish I was a guineapig.

I use fleece, folded up into 2 layers, we clean them out every day. But I do not spot clean, I used to but I clean it out everyday so it's nice and clean, I love fleece! It's colourful, comfortable and reusable which did it for me:) I am saving up for some cage liners! Expense! Lol:)

I am upgrading everything as of now I just have a plain blanket as the bedding, and clean it a few times a day, it works but now that I have worked up the money, I am upgrading. I am wondering is Vetbed the best thing to use? I hear it holds in smells bad, I am find with fleece, I just want to know which one I should do.

I loved this. My pigs always pee and poo in the same place so that's where I put te pans. I only have to do a full clean out 1 a week sometimes every 10 days. It is very rare when they pee out of the pans. I really want to try vet bed but I am nervous my piggies would chew it up.

Oh that is great they pee mostly in the pans, would make a big difference for the fleece lasting longer. Vet bed has worked great, no chewing and they even are sleeping on it sometimes.

How will it work for people with heightened senses? I have two guinea piggies and a 4×3 cage. Right now, I'm using puppy wee pads, but Oreo and Katie keep eating them, so I'm THINKING of using fleece bedding over the pads, so o won't have to use soany push pins to hold them down.y guinea piggies are semi-trained not to go on the floor during floor time unless it's under the bed where its dark or in the hay box (guinea piggies do poop and pee in the hay they eat as well). Other than that, they RARELY go on the floor. We have hard floor where we stay. I can deal with sweeping poop twice a day, but idk if I would be able to get the bedding out. The hay isn't in their cage because I don't have a hay rack, but they get hay when I let the out for floor time.

I put them in a pillowcase and then I put either a tiny bit of bleach or blue dawn soap and I do about 3 rinses before drying them. With my boys I don't know if it because they are young but they leave a smell and sometimes when you just keep washing the liners the smell never goes away. Even if I change them often they always leave a smell I constantly see them rubbing there bums lol.

And I Change my fleece every 2 weeks because my piggies rarely poop/pee on the fleece bc they are litter box trained so all I have to do is change out the pad under there hidey arena bc they poop a little under there but they never pee there and I get the same look when I shake out my fleece outside like am crazy am just like what am Justine doing piggies laundry!

When you say that fleece is much cheaper than bedding after the initial purchase, don't forget about the costs of using the washing machine, cleaner fluid (I don't actually know what it's called in English, the stuff that you wash with) and perhaps the dryer. I wonder how to costs of each type of bedding would compare if you add in all factors.

the cage liners she buys are costly. I am being completely honest. I like the fleece I get from walmart (I just get cheap throw blankets and layer them) because I am on a budget. I do like fleace better so far because the shavings were all over my apartment. It was soooo messy.

So for the first time you wash them to get the wicked, how many time do you wash and Ray them? And after that when you are washing them Ina regular basis how many time do you wash and dry them? I have two piggies and buying the bedding is just so costly and they have a fairly large cage so I think liners are the way to go for me, I have put a lot of research into finding out if they'd work and it seems they will! Please help me figure this out

Guinea pigs should always be in pairs, so a 2by4 is the minimum for c&c cages for a pair.

You can use fleece blankets but you need something absorbent underneath to collect the pee. You need to change fleece bedding 1-2 times a week. I change my cages twice a week and spot clean twice a day.

This is %100 gonna sound wrong... But it is SOO funny how when their furless,how much their privates stick out! I have furry guinea pigs, and you can tell it's there, but it doesn't stick out as much as furless..What I mean is when their furry, you can't really tell, but when their furless, there's nothing to look at such as their hair color... Sorry if this sounds wrong... I was just thinking it was funny!

Can I make my own fleece bedding? I have a sewing machine and stuff, just wondering what would be cheaper. Fleece looks easier than being. Although I don't have a piggie yet i want to get one, I've had them before but with bedding. Never knew you could use fleece.

+Lydia owens You certainly can. Most people use u-haul blankets or zorb in the middle of their fleece to absorb. You can only use anti pill or blizzard fleece, other kinds don't work.

+PRiLA 13 I have an air purifier running in the room at all times, really helps. I also make sure to have the air vents running throughout the house, keeps the air moving and fresh.

Do you ever strip your liners? I never hear people about stripping them. Although some people have said they will need to be stripped on occasion like you would with a reusable diaper

I have washed them with vinegar before, figuring that might help strip them. I've never had a problem of them not wicking.

Seymour would have that destroyed in seconds. His feet are beautiful and I can see them daily, he has been on the wood flooring with grass mats since August with no complaints. He is out of his cage on the soft carpet for 12 hours out of the day. He won't be getting sore feet and I assess him daily.

I use fleece for my rabbit change it everyother day and she never pees on it - tried it with my pigs they pee everywhere i had layers of fleece and this was a mess - they do not call them pigs for nothing- pine works for me my pigs are healthy happy, but to each their own

Hello, I noticed your piggies are in separate areas. Is there a reason for this? I have three piggies; the mom and her daughters. Well, I have noticed the mom Maya, and her daughter kinda bullies the smaller of them snuggles. I just didn't want to move her because, I didn't want her to feel lonely. Any suggestions?

What do you refer to as bullying? I have 2 males separate because they don't get along and would fight. Guinea pigs often bug each other daily and that is nothing to worry about. Do you have a large cage for them all?

skinnypigs1 hello...yes!! They have a Hugh cage! Takes up half of a bedroom. I had it custom made. Well, Maya and cuddles are bigger than snuggles. They push her away when its time to eat. I noticed she will not come out her house when I put their morning salad in. When she runs into their house (for a chat lol) they argue (I guess)... She looks so lonely and sad :-(

DeeEng Maybe you could house her with another female? Adopt another lady and make the cage larger and divide it in half? I would divide them up unless you have another female for her, otherwise I think that would be extra depressing. Is she an okay weight and does she get to eat and drink?

skinnypigs1 I think I will do that! Yes, when I saw how fat they were getting and my snuggles wasn't gaining ...I went into furry momma mood! I put a water bottle right outside her house then watched to make sure she would drink... Then I started putting her food directly into her house...also when I put in the hay I always put some right in front of her house. So she has started to pick up more weight and she does make the weee sound when she sees me coming... I just don't want her to feel alone. These are her mom and sister. Maybe she is just shy...but I watch them for hours sometimes and I think its bulling.

I LOVE fleece, but my mom don't like how some poop sticks to the fleece. I think my mom would let me if it wasn't so stinky, and if they didn't make a mess with their hay! It's EVERYWHERE! And my mom doesn't like having to wash it in our washing machine... Uhhhhhh, I wish I was old enough to move out and make my own decisions. BTW, your piggies are adorable! I just LOVE them to death! You got some good piggies! 🐹

Yes guinea pigs are social animals and need a companion so you should get 2 (in my opinion) :)) Good Luck to a fellow soon to be guinea pig owner because i also will be getting a guinea pig (2) in a few months. (Need to save up for supplies and the perfect cage) again, Best Of Luck 😊😊
