Jingles, you've done it again. People are willing to crack each others skull open over which country has bigger... Well, you know the drill :) I suppose, you could upload half an hour of black screen with no sound whatsoever and people would still find a topic to argue and insult each other over. P.S. Technically, "Fairey Delta" in FAA Museum is BAC.221. FD.2 is in Cosford.

Jingles, thank you so, so, so ,so much for uploading this. I was lucky enough to go on Concorde, G-BOAF ,which was the last British built Concorde and is now housed in the original Concorde hanger, at Filton Bristol. Due to one of my 6th form teachers having his wife work for BA, I was able to get my ticket at 10% of the face price, which worked out at £890 in 1998. This was my 18th birthday present from my parents and to celebrate getting very high exam results from the course I was studying at the time. With my 6.4 (196cm) frame, I found things a little snug in Concorde, but nothing in this world could beat the thrill of take off in Concorde. Due to the air temp at high altitude in the summer, I was in a flight that managed 59,000ft and Mach 2.2. I will never forget the experience of going on Concorde and I feel so privileged that my very first flight in a fixed wing aircraft, was on board what I see as the greatest ever non military aircraft. I would strongly recommend anyone going to see the flagship Concorde, G-BOAC at Manchester airport if you ever get the chance, or going to see the two French Concordes in Toulouse, where they actually use ground power to power the Air France Concorde up and they demonstrate the lowering and raising of the nose and visor, as well as moving the control surfaces of the aircraft. This is the only place in the world you can see a Concorde powered up in this manner. There is hope one day they will be able/allowed to do high speed taxi runs on special events at the airport. The Concorde in your video Jingles, was fondly called "Old Smokey" as the development engines used in this research aircraft were very smokey and even the preproduction Concorde based at Duxford, was smokey compared to the final production engines found in the aircraft that entered service. One question for you Jingles, which you don't have to answer, but what did you do job wise in the Royal Navy? Good stuff. I know we are a bit out of the way down here in the Southwest but we are well worth a visit! If you like this and you like Tanks its worth remembering that the Tank Museum Bovington is only a 45 min drive at most from the Fleet Air Arm Museum, now imagine that for a weekend break............

With an addon to the Hawker Hunter story, we used them in Rhodesia (now Zimbabawe). The pilots were legendary in their ability to hit any target. A South African Newspaper stated that the pilots could hit a metal dustbin in a jungle clearing. In answer to that No.4 squadron presented a metal dustbin to No.1 squadron that then promptly stuck it out on the practice field and did just that with only a single burst form a hunter flown by Richard Bland OC at a speed of approximately 720Kmh

GJ Mr.BoJingles. Hey you dont have to say sorry to anyone,they have a choice. I enjoy your videos and watch every dam one of them. Some people just dont take the time to understand costs of equipment and the efforts you put into these reviews etc. Its not like your in hollywood and directing the museum. Your doing us a favor and its appreciated by many.

this makes we want to go to the National Naval Aviation Museum, here in pensacola. also i was near EGLIN AFB and got too see some of the F35s doing training flights they are a bit louder than the f-18s from around the navy base

Fun fact: When in the hover, the Harrier is 'steam powered'. No, really. Water is injected into the engines to give it better cooling, and allow the engine to operate at the higher thrust levels needed. The pilot only has 90 seconds of water on board, and hence can only ever hover for 90 seconds without the risk of overheating the engine!

Love the Hunter. Flown by the Royal Navy and Swiss Air Force until the early 1990s (first flew 40 years earlier), still in service in the Lebanese Air Force. US Navy hires contractors to fly Hunters for anti-cruise missile drills for its warships.

nice videos of the fleet air arm museam. also the westland wyvern in the museam is not a turboprop it is powred by the Rolls-Royce Eagle 22 24-cylinder H-block piston engine

The wyvern at the FAAM is a pre production prototype, powered by a RR eagle H24 engine, not the latter double mamba 🤘🏻

Fantastic video jingles really enjoyed it. The format is spot on even if you done regular videos about different aircraft/tanks that would be fine by me !!! Now for a slight rant at who ever was responsible for mothballing/selling the Harrier. They really do need a kick in the knackers. To have it replaced by the lightning 2 / JSF is just two fingers up at brilliant design and common sense. That aircraft defies logic. I agree that Harrier airframes were getting tired and they needed updating but the design was more than sound and the money spent on procuring the JSF should have been spent making a Harrier 2. Rant over.

The Comcorde was actually louder than the Harrier at takeoff. The TBF Avenger is not exactly quiet either among it's peers.

Nice Vids Jingles! You should become a Professional Documentary Guy/Dude/bloke. I currently serve with the Swiss Air Force( As a Militia-Member,like 4 Weeks a Year), so it's nice to see your mentioning of the Hunter, which is a Legend in the SAF. They flew them up until 1994! (Armed with AIM-9 and AGM-65 Maverik Missiles as Ground Attackers). Also, the Swiss BF 109's fought briefly against ze Nazis during 1940. Apparently, they claimed around 5 to 7 Greman Planes for the loss of one 109 of their own. So far the only Time the SAF got into Combat.

Sadly that's true. American P-51 also Shot down 2 Swiss D-3800( Locally built French MS.406 Fighter) The P-51 Pilots didn't recognize the Planes because they were hoplessely obsolete by that time, so they thought the D-3800's must be German.

About the harrier. I had heard they are loud as fuck. And the vents are to help keep the planes balance as it takes off vertically.

Yeah they are pretty damn loud. I believe (may be wrong) that the harrier was originally designed to be a short take off small jet fighter, where you don't need much room, and can hide them amongst bushes. I saw one in my home town (I'm from England) flying at an air show and they demonstrated this jet they had it hovering about a few feet above the beach about a few feet away from a man made garden style cliff and the pier. When flying you could switch the vent's so they faced forwards to rapidly decelerate the plane if they had enemy on their tail to get in front and then shoot them to shit. But when they were built the RAF and Navy were unsure of them and when Falkland's kicked off they had no choice after the war they loved them.

Jingles; I worked on two Harrier prototypes P1127 & P1154 have they got an 1154 at Yeovil the P1154 I believe was the supersonic version but the engine development was cancelled due to budget cuts I am not sure it was a long time ago and it may have been a third prototype which was the proposed supersonic version. Lets get this right, VR 137 is a pre production model (never flown) fitted with a Rolls Royce Eagle 22 piston engine. All production Wyverns, had Armstrong Siddeley Python turboprop engines, double mambas powered fairy gannets.

Jingles I dont know if know but due to those Harrier vector throst - nozzles this aircraft can fly backwards as well, ofcource its absolutely impractical in real combat

About 10 years ago I visited the museum with an ex WW2 FAA commander, Ken Firth, then aged about 85. He had proof with him to show he was the genuine article and by that I do not mean just the tie. To my utter disgust he had to pay the full OAP entrance fee. He should have been welcomed as an honoured guest. He didn't seem to care but I was so upset I wrote to the Museum. I never received a reply. Ken has since gone on to fly his Swordfish permanently.

Hunter wasnt INTRODUCED into service in 1951. It happened in 1956. In 1951 the first flight took place.

Fun Fact: the SR-71 blackbird actually had to move out of it's way to allow Concorde to carry on with it's flight path.

That's strange, seeing that the SR-71 flew again half as high and again half as fast as the Concorde ever did. (SR-71 has a flight ceiling of more than 100,000 foot and a rated maximum speed of Mach 3.4, with Concorde going up to about 70,000 and Mach 2.2.

At 1:30 one of the crew members states that a Wyvern pilot was the only man in history to eject from underwater and survive. This isn't true -- an F-8 pilot went over the end once and ejected from underwater. His ejection didn't take him out of the water, but it did get him out of the cockpit and he made it to the surface under his own power. I believe I got this story from Crusader!.

Jingles, got a question, if you have time/money and interest in visiting the Dutch National Military Museum opening in Oktober 2014 let us know in one of your videos because these museum trips of yours are incredible and I learn a lot from them. Information here: www.nmm.nl/ It contains Dutch and International aircraft, tanks, equipment, gear, etc. I think everyone could learn from it, maybe even you! If you DO plan on coming to the Netherlands to see the opening of the museum I can be your transport ofcourse, because I also tend to be there when the museum opens.

The way i see it, the longer it takes for the f35 to reach service, the better. It is an incredibly expensive, overweight, slow, unnecessary aircraft. If it's gonna replace all the ground attackers it will need a big wingspan and low stall speed, but it needs the opposite to be able to perform V.T.O.L and the small wingspan coupled with the heavily underpowered airframe makes it a fighter that's too slow to be good at that and an attacker that can't go slow enough to be good at that.

MichalSoukup1995 let's hope they choose to abandon the project, but that's highly unlikely since they've put too much effort, time and money into it. Even if they wanted to back out they couldn't because they've gone past the point of no return.

I hope they do jettison the F35, it's an expensive joke... Of course we will end up with two aircraft carriers with nothing to fly off them(!)

Just a suggestion. The next time you do one of these videos please include text descriptions such as the name and designation of an aircraft. Sometimes it's difficult to make out when spoken.
