Thank you! Update on the latest Ren Tech 750 is that they now come with a built in UPS function, in short for load shedding use, you can leave them plugged in now on both ends, whether the grid is on or off. ;)

thanks great video once again. I had ordered a JACKERY 500, but after your very basic and informative video I decided to buy the FLEXOPOWER 555. Just because of the output and specifically the replaceable battery.

Stefan, you and your team you have really simplified the topic of PPS and Solar blankets. I love how you only focused on the important criteria such as weight, Ah and Watts. I checked your website and it is such a breeze to select the right item for my needs. A thousand likes Dude!

Only a pleasure Sam! I'm glad you find the content simple & to the point, that is exactly why we did the video, to put the focus between the different brands to what matters, the weight, Ah & size comparison. Thank you so much for the kind words and the thousand likes. ;) Keep well sir.

Great video! It has really helped me identify the best PPS for outdoor travel. Which solar blanket would you recommend for the RenTech 750 - are all the flexopower solar blankets compatible with this unit? Thanks
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Hi Leigh-Ann, thanks for the comment. Ren Tech 750 has got their own 125W foldable solar blanket, a bit bulkier than the Flexopower units. However I am sure that the Namib 150W solar blanket will also work fine with the Ren Tech 750. I will confirm & also test with the supplier and once I did, I will pin a comment about it at the top for this video. At the moment stock is quite a challenge with all the suppliers for the portable battery units due to the chronic stage 4 load shedding intervals we are experiencing.

Hi Stefan. Flexopower recommends the 150 Namib. Will there be any benefit by going for the larger panel? Thinking of overcast days to get as much solar as possible in those scenarios.
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Hi Edgar, yes they recommend the 150W Namib to go with the 555 portable unit purely because the Namib 150W has such great VOC (open circuit voltage) or 23V, which makes it optimal to combo with the 555. However if you are planning on using a solar blanket on a different setup other than the 555 directly, then I would recommend the Namib 240W instead yes. But due to the Namib 240W's lower VOC it will not perform as good with the 555. Hope this helps anwer your question. :)

Yes great video. Thanks, Jan
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад

Stefan, thanx for the video. Will the Mojave 150 charge the Flexopower 555 power pack? Apparently it doesn’t put out enough voltage?
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Hi Nico, of course it will power the Flexo 555. The 'apparently' indicates that who ever made that comment to you have not tested the theory of that statement. Of course the products from the same manufacturer will match up & work 100% efficient. It might be that when using different solar panels from other brands the Flexo 555 might not 'recognize' the panel due its open circuit voltage being too low or different to that of the Flexopower panels. If you look at the spec sheets at the end of the video, the Flexopower solar blankets produce the most amps on the list, power they have enough of to provide. :)

@@DIESELTECH_ZA thanx for the reply. I really appreciate it. The advice was provided due to the Mojave only pushing out around 16-odd volts and the Flexo555 requiring around 19.5 volts to efficiently charge (I am not completely sure). I appreciate you input and advice
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
@@rather_be_camping only a pleasure Nico. Again, from personal experience the Flexo solar blankets measures an open circuit voltage of 18 volts and not 16 volts. They state the specs on their website too if you would like to look it up. If the Flexo 555 required 19 volts to charge, then it should also not charge from your vehicle lighter socket which only produces 12 to 14 volts max, so that also proofs that claim to be incorrect. Send me an email then I can mail you all the accurate specs & info: info@dieseltechstore.co.za
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Hi Nico, so the specs on the Flexopower 555 are as follows: PV(Solar) of any panel should be between 18V to 24V, it comes with a booster charge cable for vehicle charging, the lower Vmp of the Felxopower Mojave 150W will charge it, but not 100% fully. They recommend their Flexopower 150W Namib solar panel to be the perfect match for this unit, both the Mojave 240W & Namib 240W panels are also a great fit for the 555. I hope his helps answer your question / concern of the 555. ;)

Nicely done! What about the Bluetti EB55 R10,780 good deal and charges 2500 times not 500
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Don't know the Bluetti. All lithiums charges between 2000 to 7000 cycles depending on how they get treated during use.
@hugheshome
@hugheshome 2 года назад
@@DIESELTECH_ZA But I thought you said they only do 500 cycles? The bluetti is spec'd at 2500 cycles because as i understand it the battery is different. It is apparently a LiFePO4 battery which has the edge over lithium ion, both in terms of cycle life (it lasts 4-5x longer), and safety. This is a key advantage because lithium ion batteries can overheat and even catch fire, while LiFePO4 does not
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
@@hugheshome Maybe you should watch the video again & pay more attention in the class room this time as I do not recall where exactly I did mention '500 cycles' . That is lead acid battery cycle specs. Those are all lithium battery fitted, it even says it on the covers of the units, 2000 to 7000 cycles life expectancy for most lithium batteries. The word or number 500 I mention a few times refers to the model of the Jackery 500 unit. Maybe you Bluettie guys confuse that with cycles, not sure.

Whats the charging time on the rentech? Will it charge fast enough with the 12v cigarette outlet in the car to be able to run a fridge and act like a dual battery system?
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
Hi Tommy, yes it will easily cope with a camping fridge whilst charging from your vehicle's electrical system or as you put it to serve as a dual battery principle. As an extra feature you can always add a solar blanket to it to enhance your 'off grid' stay during your trips in the field as well. Charging time will all be determined on much the battery has been depleted from the time it was in use before the charging commences, or in battery terms, the DOD (depth of discharge). A fully depleted battery should charge up until 8 hours from 220V domestic power, less should the DOD not 90% to 100%. Hope this helps, thank you. dieseltechstore.co.za/product/rentech-70ah-lithium-portable-energy/

@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA 2 года назад
@@tommyhartvig5495 of course yes, it would run it easily as long as your vehicle's engine is running and the alternator charging it will ensure sufficient charge / power being supplied.

Does the flexopower 555 allow through charging? Also what Solar panels can be used? Parallel /series, max voltage /Amps and what is the max Watts?
@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA Год назад
Hi there, you are most welcome to look at the specs on each product on our online store, the new Ten Tech 750's allows for through charging on the 220V side with its buitl in UPS function. Max solar charge on the Ren Tech 750 is only 125W, on the Flexopower 555 you can use up to 260W Flexopower solar blanket. (11V to 27V range on the latest models) For load shedding use at home as primary use I would recommend the Ren Tech 750, the Flexopower 555 for camping as primary use and vice versa.

@DIESELTECH_ZA
@DIESELTECH_ZA Год назад
Hi Ronald. For camping as primary use, the Flexopower 555 as it has kick ass solar input specs vs the Ren Tech 750. For load shedding use as primary use I would recommend the Ren Tech 750 again, it has a massive size battery and the latest models come with a built in UPS function, which means you can leave it plugged in while in use without burning down battery cycles for nothing. Both units are greatly priced for what you get compared to the Jackery units as an example. So depending on your final user goal for it, that is how I would list them. (We currently have stock of both.)
