In this video I am going to answer the top three questions I get about Flick Putting. Hope this helps. #kastaplast Key Moments: 00:00 Intro 00:35 Flick putt? 01:22 Grip and technique 02:45 Power vs touch
It is great to find other flick putters! I just naturally developed the anhyzer from Ultimate, but I am a firm believer in whatever works best for you. Better to be weird and accurate than normal and shaky :). thanks for watching!
Hey, Pete. Joseph here. Thanks for another great vid. As an old Ultimate player, I can totally relate to the forehand, but have not actually used it to putt, which is strange, as I threw probably 90% of my shots flick and from 10 - 20 yards.. You are inspiring me to add to my "arsenal", as you say.
I'm new to disc golf and never played Ultimate, so the flick putt is a bit novel. But after a few sessions of practice, it is fun. I definitely have a learning curve, especially for the floaty anhyzer flick. But a floaty anhyzer RHBH is nice for a float to the pin and drop close, hopefully the floaty flick and the distance flicky putt will come with practice. Love the tips and pointers. Thanks!
Yes, I love the float flick approach as much as the flick putt since if gives me a chance to run at the basket but not sail too far past! Keep up the practice!
Wow 🤩 what a great video and I thought I was the only weirdo who flick putts. 😂 I really loved your straight forward explanations and not nonsense presentation style. Your choice of the Berg makes so much sense. Do you prefer a particular Berg plastic for flick putting? Also, do you use the Innova Jay for your longer range forehand putts & up shots?
Hey thanks! I prefer the K1 soft for my plastics on the Berg. Interesting you ask about longer range. I stick with the Berg for anything I consider a putt, and most up shots. Once the distance starts to make me need to push the power/comfort of the Berg, I use a beat Innova Pig, but that is after trying the Zone, Harp and a couple of others. The Innova Jay is a good disc, but hasn't stayed in my bag... I keep trying to give up on my old out of Stock MVP Vector, but it is so reliable it is what I use for most of my midrange. My (MVP/Axiom) midranges go from very overstable to flippy... Deflector, Pyro, Reactor, Vector, Uplink... but I tend to be a more flippy/understable thrower... so the Vector and Uplink get the most work. Probably too much info. Thanks for watching!
@@ogdiscgolfer Thanks for the reply. Regarding your grip, do you have the thumb just on top of index finger, sort of like pinching, or is the thumb positioned more "back" on top of the rim?
about 500 attempts in…. i cannot seem to make any progress. it’s weird i expected this to come naturally as i am much more forearm dominant for all scrambling/upshots, but it just isn’t jiving yet lol
that can be frustrating... you may try different angles with the disc. Try a more flatter shot or one that arcs higher and drops in. there isn't one particular way to do it... just like with a backhand putt, the key is finding a style and rhythm that matches your body and the way you play.
@@ogdiscgolfer thank you! I didn't think about it much bc in your first vid you threw a stack of seemingly random putters, but I've been using my typical stack of PA3s which or very flat/slightly understable. I guess its possible trying a touch more stable disc might help too. Will report back after another 500-1000 shots :P
I started Flick putting with Innova Birdies (remind me of ultimate discs... sort of) and now I will also use Berg's if it is windy or I need to put a little more force on it.
