With all due respect, do you know how much effort would be involved in building a detailed cabin, where most users would look at it only once or twice. The focus has been on cockpit, externals, sound and operation - where we spend 99% of our time. As a software developer, I can’t believe how much Aerosoft already provide for $50. That’s a steal.

When you opened the door on the intro on the exterior, I thought...that no smoking sign looks a bit...LOW RES...then I got to the interior cabin...WOW...JUST WOW!

I have had a great deal of fun learning and flying this new aircraft... I'm loving it! However, I 100% agree with you. I wish they would have integrated the interactive checklist. Unless it is an SDK issue, the feature is there to be used and it was disappointing to see the developer not take advantage of it.

This is the first time I have watched one of your videos. I like that you look out for the new guy!! I’m new to flight simulator and I want to learn how to fly all of these jets and future helicopters. And I need that check list it’s very very important to me. Now I can watch videos and go back and forth but it makes you feel like you are doing it if there is a check list. It gives you a better feeling of accomplishment when you are just relying on a check list from time to time instead of going to someone’s cold and dark videos. Now with that being said I love what you guys do for us and I wouldn’t learn half the things I do without watching videos. I am what you call a visual learner. I don’t learn as much when I have to read and read and read boring documents. But thank you for your insight and thank you for looking out for newbies like me!! Your sim friend from across the pond!!😁

LOL!!!!! Well done, mate. I think I've seen every RU-vid review for this aircraft. Yours is by far the most entertaining. I love when you start admonishing other developers...."NO!, NO!." The cabin segment was hilarious. Keep up the great work.

Not only is there no interactive checklist, but I didn't see any tool-tips showing up when I tried it out. But maybe that's something I have to configure in the sim setting. PS: We all could use a straight jacket with a nice rubber room waiting for us after 2020 😋😉

Great first impressions, agree 100% about the grips but it seems excellent where it counts and a lot of fun. Hopefully, the shortcomings will be addressed in a future patch.

Always a great video. Much respect. Bought it too. And not a pilot. So yeah, I'm totally with you about not leaving out the Asobo checklist. I just jump in and fly, but being able to find my way around a bit isn't a bad thing. But I usually stick with single engine and small twins.

I have to admit that I agree with the check list. It's fine to have It on the tablet, and in manual but it's also Great for the newbies to have the inbuilt one.

Absolutely correct with the checklists... Totally a feature which needs to be utilized by all developers PERIOD! Also correct on the cabin graphics... Just because... Wtf they could have even cleaned up the grit in MS Paint if nothing else.

To be fair I think the cabin is just for the external cameras so you have a 3D view in for a more realistic impression of the interior. It's just that the msfs cameras allow you to go inside.

Before this I didn't know that you could click a checklist item and it would tell you where the button is. Now I know, then this does seem like a big oversight seeing as they went through the trouble of creating the tablet checklist. I tend to agree that not making full use of what the sim can do just feels backwards in a paid add-on. I've already seen one pile on in a forum as a purchaser was annoyed that the AI Co-Pilot doesn't work with people saying that 'it's not for beginners', 'why buy it if you want someone else to fly it' etc. Like you just said IRL an instructor would be showing you what to do, so the checklists and AI are just the sim version of that. Since taking up simming as a hobby since MSFS released, I've seen a lot of gatekeeping towards newer users and those just learning their way.

I often flew the CRJ in FSX, and I was excited to learn that the CRJ was coming for FS2020; I am discouraged to buy it because there is no interactive checklist. I want to learn where the buttons and switches are; the checklist helps me identify them. Grrrrr.

Damn you are so right. I was shocked the moment i clicked on the integrated checklist. I was looking forward to learn a hard to master plane easy for the first time in a sim. And then this. I could not care less about the cabin textures. You are right but the checklist is the real disappointment for me.

Same for me. I am told “it’s easy”, “read the POH” but I don’t have time for this... and I am lazy... why invest in a good simulator like this one if you can’t have all the features it brings. People complain about the rear cabin texture, but these will be the same people complaining about a drop in FPS when they fix it...

Thanks GS for the brilliant video as always. Won't be paying that 50Eur price until they fix the interactive checklist (I like starting cold and dark but am not a CPL pilot...). If the cabin textures are at the price of graphic performance, I would prioritise the latter personally.

Loving grumpy GripperSim because you have very valid points. Personally I think if you release payware, it had better be up to standard for the period. I'm not actually going to buy this until its up to standard or competition does a better job.

Checklists? You mean those things you're supposed to use at various points in a flight? Hehehe... I won't deny it. The CRJ is quite overwhelming to me right now. I'll learn it though. Soon hopefully... Soon. ;)

Thanks for this my Irish friend. Would have been more enjoyable but I really am getting tired of the Grammerly interruptions (not your fault, I know). I have not bought this one as I am still trying to work my way up to the level of complexity required to operate it well. I have avoided the FMS/FMC systems so far and still aggravated with things like the GNS530 not working correctly (Activate Approach button seems to be borked). Anyhow, your stuff is always great and I really enjoy the humor (and shared aggravations). Keep 'em coming sir!

Xplane and Zibo (my set-up) vs MFS & Aerosoft CRJ. Loved the scrap in the cabin with opening tune FSX vs Gripper Sim in straight Jacket....don't change

Hi Gripper, you are perfectly right in what you say. I have steered away from commercial aircraft on Flight sims for this very reason. Apart from all this , we pay for these add-ons and they are not cheap. I am still fuming about the fact that I can't use FSX and the hundreds of pounds of add-ons that I bought for it on Windows 10. I have a HUGE hangar in FSX and wish some of them could be ported across to MSFS if only to provide me with some of the iconic aircraft,gliders and helicopters that I have whilst waiting for Asobo to produce something.I'm 74 so I don't have that much time to wait..................................

The ommisions and lazy aspects of this aircraft are so bizarre, what i mean is, who do the developers think will be testing this software, how can they possibly think for a second these details will be overlooked?. I am looking for my first airliner to get my feet wet.

where can i find a tutorial on setting up the Bravo Throttle Quadrant for the CRJ using the levers that have the reverser knobs (boeing) which emulates the CRJ the closest, I don't see any instructions included in the .PDF files

Don't think it's an sdk thing as the A32NX Flybywire mod for the A320 has a MASSIVE checklist update compared to the stock. I think if they did it so should the CRJ team?

No wonder the cabin is of such low fidelity.. These planes are the mainstay for carting skuzzy rock bands and their entourage around. Have you seen the state they leave the cabin in? lol

If having lower poly and resolution retread passenger cabin textures and models in a place I'll virtually never bother looking at means I don't lose another 1-2 fps, I'll take it.

It sounds like the A10 from Infinite flight... That’s my opinion. I’m not sure how close these specific outside sounds of the engines at full power are to the real aircraft.

not only did they cheap out on the cabin you cant even get the cockpit door open so if ur flying and u want to walk/sit in the cabin u cant unreal not to mention this aircraft as alot of bugs

It’s still under development, the PMDG 737’s are really great!! No word yet on release except 2021 I think.

To add to your anger, aerosoft has been working with Asobo on developing the SDK. They whine constantly about the SDK yet it is them and Asobo that created it. They will surely blow this off as an SDK issue like we are not smart enough to think for our selves. It wasn't like they didn't have time to fix the checklist or horrible cabin textures either. They delayed this thing for months, then deliver this to customers. I agree that it is a nice jet, but for shame on them for the cabin and checklist!

I don't think the speed tape should jump like this in real aircraft, the up/down line indicator for speed might but not the speed tape. That's pretty lame. Also, on take off I noticed that you had to literally lift the aircraft off the ground, did you rotate too early? The aircraft should fly by itself the minute you increase angle of attack. Another thing on landing, 100kts? that's very slow and no stall? How heavy were you?

the textures thing is very important, I guess MS should enforce some basic quality control, just look at the horrendous 737 that was accepted in the marketplace. don´t buy the 737 btw

what annoys me about YOUR reaction about the checklists is... it's not that Asobo has OMITTED it..... it's simply that it hasn't been ADDED in, given that this is an ADD-ON Ac.

I will not buy this product. On the outside of the aircraft there are a number of curved areas that do not have full curvature (missing points … can't think of the name for them right now): instead of a nice curve we have segments of octagons. The cabin interior: bloody awful. I hope they don't do this with their upcoming Twin Otter. I will wait for version 2 on the CRJ and make a purchase decision then. Take note, developers - people will vote with their wallets and keep them closed if you cut corners.

Yeah, very annoying indeed. And someone please explain to me how it's OK to model the animation of the door handle on the inside, which you don't get get to see, but not animate the outside handles? As for the HUD, that the joke of the century! Calling that piece of horse manure a HUD is an insult to the HUD. The "display" is printed on the glass.

The exclusion of the interactive checklist is something that irritates me very much. A perfect opportunity for new people to try a regional airliner wasted. The argument that “well this is for serious people” is both elitist and ridiculous given that it is a consumer simulator so people can learn and discover. Frankly, I’m unwilling to buy this as a result. I would have liked to explore this and that was a critical tool in that and now I’m left dumbfounded. Immediately lost interest in it as a result.

This is a very valid point. I suppose you could look around the cockpit until you find everything but it takes an age, or have the plane set up and ready for take off, but then you're missing out. Hopefully, they will include this in a future update. As far as the cabin goes it's not a deal breaker, imho, as long as you don't look in the cockpit first!!

Ok so the main complaints is the textures are not good in the cabin, that you will never go in, as YOU are the pilot. The other issue is it doesn’t use the interactive checklist and doesn’t show you where the buttons are. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. Seriously it’s not hard people. Read the damn manual and learn the position of the buttons yourself. I mean honestly is there any more pathetic reason to moan, hell I don’t think I’ve ever even opened the asobo interactive checklist once for any aircraft. There are checklists included in the Ipad yes you have to read them, and god forbid move and look for the buttons BUT it literally takes a few seconds. Videos and comments like the ones found in here, really make me despair for the future of flight simulation and the community.

Do you realise that well over a million people have purchased this new sim? People who have never been interested in a flight sim have bought this. Do you really want to preclude those players (or make it more difficult for them than it needs to be) by not including the built in checklist?? Comments like yours just reinforce the snobbery that is present with "pretend pilots" who seem to look down their noses at anyone with a basic interest in flight simming. I hope your epaulettes are ironed ready for your next flight........sigh. Well done Gripper, another great video!! :D

Spot on! I'm not sure why all these simmers need spoon feeding for everything. Read-the-manual! And who TF is going to the cabin? Is this a passenger sim or a pilot sim? I'm worried about the state of the world, let alone flight simming. Everyone is a baby now!

I picked up the CRJ after searching through YT for reviews and there's nothing wrong with it. There's a basic word some of you "simmers" need to hear, learn! Who tf needs a built in check list? That's what the manual is for!
