Nice review. I've had the Hudson for approx 2-3 yrs now and overall like it more than my Barbour Beadnell and various other Barbour's I've tried. The two main things I believe they should change are: 1. reverse the collar. Put the soft wool (or change to cord) on the top so it's in contact with the wearers neck, and the wax cotton on the bottom so it's protects you from the elements when you pop it up rather than having it in contact with the wearers skin, which does not feel good. 2. Drawstring waist, so people who are slimmer build can narrow the waist and minimize cold air entry. Optional change, remove the "Game Pocket"...it's lined with cord....will anyone really use that thing to hold dead birds?! IT's just extra weight and the look would be cleaner without it.

I agree. That nice wool lining would be nuch better on the other side of the collar.

Lot of good “heritage-type” stuff comes out of Indonesia. They’ve got a decent boot scene right now. They’ve also got an excellent leather (and canvas) bag company called Cravar.

it's true I had a meetup there and was surprised to meet a ton of guys wearing raw denim and carrying beautifully beat up cravar bags!

I’ve had my Hudson for about 3yrs in the tan (actually an olive color). I love the game pocket as I use it for a few things. I stuff my gloves & beanie in there & also on colder days I sometimes put a heating element in it to keep my lower back warm. In the colder weather my mid-lower back has a tendency to stiffen up in the cold & this keeps me nice & toasty as it’s located right about on the kidneys.

This is a great jacket. I took it on my travels to the Netherlands and use it very often in the NY fall. The back pocket came in handy when tucking away my hat.

I agree this is definitely warmer than the flannel lined waxed trucker. It is a 10oz canvas as apposed to the 7oz of the waxed trucker. And I also prefer the softer feel of the Hudson flannel over the poly trucker. The higher price is coming with the quilts materials the Hudson is made from. Both the canvas and wool are British made. The British Millerain the Hudson is made from Is top notch. It’s also used in the Iron and Resin Scout. And I do like the durability of it. Great review!

@@StrayReviews it’s definitely the most form fitting of the waxed jackets I have tried. And the heaviest at 12oz. But it’s a pretty nice jacket.
