I shared this to Mr. Davis and so glad he contacted you!!! Not this video another one and I had told you I’d get you some subscriber’s and Mr. Wantwaz saw it and glad he did what I had hoped!! I shared it with him and saying how much I saw on your video and he is running for Mayor in the next Mayoral Campaign. Many of us our getting sick and epilepsy is one of them some died from cancer and much more, sadly
Mr. Davis definitely tried and defending us as City Council and actually was the only one I saw and how I ended up becoming more involved with because he is honest and cared about Flint. We ARE OM BOTTLE WATER BECAUSE IT IS STILL NOT FIXED IN CERTAIN AREAS ABOVE 15 PPB and not Recommended by The City Still to not drink out of the tap since the PLUMBING IS STILL NOT FIXED ALMOST 9 YEARS LATER!! Dana Nessel recently fined a company still dumping chemicals in the Flint, River! Under WHITMAR all cities with same scenerio with lead have been fixed. Benton Harbor the most recent who still gets bottle water, delivered if necessary. We were stopped in December from getting bottle water even though our water has yet to pass one EPA COMPLIANCE on our Water!! Benton Harbor is 99% Fixed if not completed yet!! Flint is not nor was it handled by licensed plumbers and we will be at 9 year’s in April still suffering and many dying from the poisoned water and I delivered water to citizens on my dime here in Flint and the churches along with people we could find that donated water from other state’s in the first couple of year’s and how we had access to the bottled water!! We are still NOT fixed and they still can not find the money given by Obama for the water crisis under Mayor Weaver at that time. There is so much more I could Add. Davis knows I was fighting the City and the Mayor about everything she was doing!! The police here are corrupt and I almost was killed the police DID NOTHING knowing who did it!! They are bought off!!!
Hi my pipes never were replaced it’s a lot of lies and he is speaking all truth and we still haven’t got any settlement for are pain and can’t drink the water they gave us all 300.00 on are water bills which will be gone in no time because I pay monthly 88.88 been paying for me only in my household it’s so sad how we still can’t trust the water and nobody was charge in what they did 😢❤
Mr.Davis is one helluva man 👏 Sometimes an ex-con is the most Honest man you'll ever meet . . . there don't be NO frontin' in That school ! 🙏 i hear the man about St.Paul : Truth - - - Great interview , Chris 👍
This world would be a lot better off if we had more officials like you Mr. Davis, especially one who gives the glory to God! Keep up the great work sir!
As you might remember, I live in Belvidere IL and our Stellantis plant is preparing for a long shutdown and the remaining 1,400 employees are expected to be out longer than six months. Supposedly a new Cherokee is coming per my local news but going to Mexico. Great job UAW and Illinois!! I blame them far more than Stellantis. Thankfully I chose to get my second degree in 2012 instead of choosing to work for what was FCA at the time. What I wanted to say was that it painful to see what was probably a great place (Flint) turn into a wasteland that is lacking opportunity. Edit: I have no clue what it feels like to have your community fall apart because an employer or attraction closed and especially in mass. My whole point by bringing up my local situation is that unions should more concerned with keeping jobs than demanding more money and benefits. It just seems counterproductive and lacking purpose. To Mr Wantwaz Davis, your story was very touching and wish you great success in your life and what you could do for Flint. Thank you for sharing.
Crime moved in long before GM had closed places like Buick City. The population growth brought a criminal element that has spanned generations now and has not left despite the downsizing of GM employment in the area. Wantwaz Davis is a released criminal who murdered a man. Flint's condition has worsened to such a state that Davis' criminal record was not reported on by the local newspaper, the Flint Journal, until weeks after he was elected. While it is good to see story of rehabilitation of former criminals; it does not speak well of a city that it votes one in as a ranking member of government. Petty crime in Flint has not decreased despite the population decline, it merely goes unreported because of the lack of police response. Flint's citizens need a come to Jesus moment to realize that until they change, Flint will not have any significant re-investment in the area. I love Flint and there is much that could be done and the downtown area has had re-investment but the neighborhoods are in horrible shape and the worst part is the crime that used to be contained in Flint's northeast side has spread to the suburbs.
This counselman does not really understand what happened. First off the pipes themselves were not lead. The lead was is in the soder connecting the pipes. Over time corrosion built up in the pipes and it covered the lead. BOTH water sources were safe to drink. The issue was that the pH was different and new source was a little more acidic or corrosive but it did meet water quality standards. The problem was that it ate away at the corrosion that had built up over decades in the pipes. At first this resulted in visibly dirty and rusty water as the corrosion was cleaned out. After the lead was uncovered then the lead started to go into the water. If the college educated testers in the Flint Water Department had actually properly tested they should have realized this and the treatment to raise the pH is actually pretty cheap. This was never done. The authorities kept claiming the water was good which it was when it entered the pipe system. However, the water coming out of the pipes in the houses was dirty and later contained lead. It took far too long to figure this out and simple facts are still not openly discussed.
It was more than just Lead, we also had TTHM and these jackasses didn’t know how to treat the water. Too much Chlorine then not enough. I had to go to the emergency because of stomach pain only to find out I had no good bacteria nor bad bacteria in my gut.
Thanks for spouting multi national corporate propaganda. You’d have us race to the bottom competing against the poorest labor markets on the planet, instead of uniting all labor and forcing all corporations to pay fair wages.
Chris, you do an excellent job on the videos. I wanted to ask during the 70s and 80s, I understand in doing research on Flint that one of the sections of Flint (not sure which number on your diagram (at :38)was heavily populated with Greeks. I'm just curious if this is true and which neighborhood would that have been? Tia
Trust me crime goes unreported People don't even bother calling the cops. My brother called the cops because somebody was shooting a pistol into the air in the middle of the street 3 days later the cops showed up. He was at work they left the card
Yeah my neighbor had a bunch of stuff stolen, didn't bother to report it because they wouldn't recover the stuff anyway. Plus the fact that people are afraid of retaliation if they happen to witness an assault and take the motto "snitches get stitches" seriously.
I live off Davison Rd I call the neighborhood the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. That's exactly what it looks like. Where ur at is sooooo bad. Eastside....there's fires everynight. Shootings all day and night. Lots of prostitution. And abandon buildings everywhere. Speaking of water crisis it came out in 2014 and we still haven't been reimbursed. We still can't drink the water but we have to pay 400 just to have the water turned on. U can't find a house for rent under 6 hundred. 10 yrs from now flint will prolly be burned to the ground.
I live in the subdivision area behind the Richfield Apts, and they used to be a good place to stay until they started the section 8 program. Now that place was baaaaad!! Gangs lead that place, and I heard they were charging residents a fee for "protection" and there were many burned outside apartment buildings as well. That crime had spilled over into my neighborhood. Now they are rebuilding that fkn place. I sure hope they get good security and a little more picky of who want to live there. And video cameras put in, out of reach.
Wait..... What..... You got that much time, murder not good but if somebody sexually assaulted my mother, I would probably do the same thing. Wouldn't that be second- or third-degree murder "a crime of passion?" Mr. Davis should've had a better lawyer, that seems like a long time for that type of murder - - - again murder isn't a good thing, but the circumstances must be looked at. "OK, I'll get off my soap box"
You wouldn’t need an engineering degree to predict what the outcome would be for a small municipality to clean heavily contaminated water. You just need to know basic principles of water filtration. Side note: I live in Flint & I don’t believe 80k ppl live here. I don’t care what the data says.
My home town 💕 It's so sad bc growing up in the early 90s it was a completely different place. I'm so Grateful God has allowed me and my children to relocate this year 🙏🏽 👑🧿
When I heard they were going to start pumping water out of the flint river, I almost threw up. I grew up there and saw all the factories dump garbage in there for decades. Getting water from Detroit was a necessary evil because the city wanted to pump its own water in the 60s from Lake Huron. But because of corruption and profiteering it didn’t happen. Detroit got greedy and wanted to jack up the rates for a new contract and the rest was history.
Lived in Rolling Wood for 20 years, it was still a nice place when I moved to Genesee TWP in 2005. Not so safe now days, gunshots at night. Glad I moved when I did.
Happy to see people shedding light on the situation and putting flint on the map. I’ve been a “gig worker” delivery driver in this city for over 2 years. I’ve delivered to a lot of the buildings you drove by but I do try to stay away from the north/east side. There are actually a lot of nice areas though as well. I usually stay on the west side of the city but I actually live on the south/east area in burton right on the flint city line. When I first moved in to my house there were several burglary attempts and anything that I left outside would disappear real quick. Police response was very fast though and since I installed a few security cameras I haven’t had any more problems yet. My family has lived in this area for generations and there’s actually a lot to like about this city. For example, my mortgage is $370 a month for a house that was mostly move in ready when I bought it (besides cleaning all the trash out from former tenants). Before I moved back to the area a few years ago, the idea of owning my own home was a fairy tale but sometimes dreams do come true, in Flint Michigan.
I lived in flint until 2012 i visited my family there is nice home owner still live there People work there at the Auto PLANTS ITS SAD OF WHAT HAPPENED TO FLINT MI AND THE WATER CRISIS THESE PEOPLE WORK FOR YEARS THROUGH GM NOW ABANDONED HOMES AND PEOPLE LEFT THE CITY😢 😮
I feel that Flint should be a city waste dump...and all the people living in Flint should be moved out provided better Jobs and paid by the Government for everything they have gone through. But this won't happen because the Government don't care about Flint because it's mostly black people that live in Flint. Flint is not going to get better no matter how many video's you make on this topic. Hell Netflix had a series on Flint in 2016 and nothing happen to make this city better. It's sad that young black and white and all other races have to go through this. But it's Life people need to move if they don't like there city and stop all the complaining because no one is coming to help Flint period. This is sad to say but the truth hurts okay.
Thanks Chris. I enjoy your videos. I applauad Mr. Davis for all he has done. Peroid. Wonder why GM or the other manufacters that dumped polluntiants tin he Flint river have never bared any responsability? Boe
Nice change of pace. Great interview. And I'm glad you used his message of Faith. I don't believe in a Christian god. But I do find inspiration in his words and ability to rise above his situation. Believe in a god or believe in human beings' better nature/higher selves or believe in yourself and you can rise above. What it will look like or what level of worldly success you may attain is not the point but it can be.
I’d have to say jus in the past month on my block alone I’ve seen like 20 reason for cops to be there and not a single one ever shows ups so I’d say 99% all the activities go unreported
I’m from flint was born at Hurley medical hospital. And my questions are 1. Are you from flint & 2. If not what gave you the courageous audacity to shed light on the condition of my birthplace? I have my own opinions on why we went through what what where going through but that’s for another day. Great to see light shed.
There is always hope!!!! People need to turn back to Yah and start keeping his laws and commandments . I know people don't want to here that, but it's true.
How many times did the city of flint have a emergency manager? What is printed in the flint journal about the water switch just before the switch? Why wasnt the one chemical added to the water that would have made it usable? Look deeper!
How many times did the city of flint have an emergency manager? - Twice What is printed in the flint journal about the water switch just before the switch? - I don’t know. Why wasn’t the one chemical added to the water that would have made it usable? - Not sure if it was just one chemical, but the city and state didn’t do their due diligence to make sure that the proper testing was done to make the water safe. It was more than possible to make the water from the flint river usable, but they neglected to do the proper testing. Look deeper! - I did! Check out my other videos within my Flint series.
I grew up at 1629 Arizona, where the Williams School sits. (We had a fire hydrant at the curb). What a great place to grow up and live in the 50's and 60's. Attended Lewis, Lowell, first Northern. Everyone had a job, a house, money, and new cars. Dad worked at Hurley, uncle at Smith B's, two uncles firefighters, granddad was a traffic officer downtown and at Dort School. Whaley Park was our playground. Was able to go back in 2017, also found the monument to Northern. Thank You Chris for the video's of once a GREAT city.
They don't care about the effects of people's health especially in mostly black communities. YAHWEH will definitely judge those people involved in their part of this otrausities.
Mr Davis states rights is in the constitution. Hillsdale college is offering a curriculum for teaching the civics we need to understand. Would you join me in the indever
Rollingwood representing. Man, it’s sad to see it go. I went to Johnson Elementary and lived in the gray house @28:20. Would’ve been a great part of the video if you drove by the water treatment plant a mile away from most of your video.
My neighbors home was burglarized. He reported it and summarily arrested spent 5 days in jail and fined $350. Flint police today still haven't taken the crime report
Ah yes, the 506 where I spent my first 23 years. We enjoy your videos. Some of my favorite people on the planet live there. 8:54 random fact- The land in which Lowell middle school was built was originally farmland over a hundred years earlier. Thanks for the interview with Mr. Davis. 25:27 now entering Rollingwood, my old neighborhood.🥲 26:30 this is a point of pride for this neighborhood. The former desolate site of Shady Acres trailer park sat for years with abandoned trailers. Local residents were fed up with the eyesore and finally got it properly taken care of. Now it is a beautiful piece of property which is going back to nature. It is no longer an abandoned trailer park but resembles what it originally looked like before it became "developed."
Dude sounds like Lebron James 😭😭😭😭 man lies about literally everything 😂😂😂 everything he said is proven false. He had nothing to do with the water and he’s trying to take credit after the fact. Would expect nothing less from a murderer
My car is tore up from the roads.😡😡 I try to choose a street that has minimal speed bumps from where the roads are buckling. The worst are: Dort, Saginaw Street (bricks), Longway Blvd, Corunna Rd., and over near McLaren Hospital
