Check out how I made this floating live-edge countertop for a powder room in my home.

I am in the process of remodeling an 80 year old farmhouse in the greater Portland area. Part of the remodel has involved adding 1 & 1/2 baths to the previously 1 bath home. The limited space in the small 1/2 bath presented challenges as to how to include a sink area. I found a small wall mounted sink which worked dimensionally but didn't feel complete. Additionally, with four kids in the house I was a little dubious of the durability of the two porcelain mounting points and wanted more support for the sink. While walking through my local hardwood supplier I found a perfectly shaped live-edge walnut slab. There are lots of things I would have liked to explain or show differently in this build but as my first youtube video it is what it is. Will the the slab warp at all over time? I bought a piece like this and planning to use it for a vanity

The final dimension of the slab was nearly 2 inches thick so it is unlikely to warp due to infrequent moisture exposure. It was also sealed and hasn't given us any issues. Normal wood movement is always a consideration but if you allow the slab to adequately dry before cutting it down to its final dimension then you can avoid much of the concern. That being said the bigger the vanity the more you will want to account for expected and potential wood movement.

That's nice, do you have a link to the sink? Did it come with holes to allow for wall-mount? I have only found rectangular vessel sinks with the size I want and i don't think they have holes to mount. Is there a way to mount a vessel sink?

Thanks for the feedback, Felix! The sink I used is actually a wall mount sink with the necessary holes and mounting hardware. I mounted it to the wall for additional support before adding the countertop. I believe I purchased it at Home Depot a few years ago. It doesn't look like they have it in stock any more.
