100% agree. When he was drafted, I completely compared him to Cam Newton. LOTS of similar traits. EXACT same height, almost same weight, and both have a cannon of an arm.
I don't need to be a Bills GM to be a fan of the game. As a fan, it's fun to predict where players will go in the draft, and how that player's NFL career will be.
Not a bills fan, but what up with all of the hate on this guy. The dude is huge, has a strong arm for buffalo unlike almost everyone in this draft. Plus with spiller , Jackson and now ej they can possibly be a fun offense to watch. Hes young he's only gonna get stronger and better.
i'm a die hard buffalo bills fan even though we ain't been to the playoffs since 1999 but this year we threw out the old playbook and finally got good quarterbacks and we're starting from scratch. we're gonna surprise alot of ppl this year, SEE YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS.
Geno Smith was the consensus number 1 qb in the draft, and he wasn't picked until the 2nd. And don't try to tell me "we don't know he was number 1 just because everyone said so." He had the most hype going into the draft. So, since the consesus top qb in the draft was not taken until the 2nd round, one could make the assumption that Manuel wouldn't have been taken until after that. It's called an educated guess.
This guy is going to be an all star. I don't give a flying fuck what all you haters say. He has a cannon of an arm. He might not play week 1, but I have a feeling he will play this year. Cam Newton is highly rated, and EJ is same height, almost same weight, and better completion. All you jealous haters just wait and see...
He hangs a lot of these balls up short. Watch and see how many players had to slow down or stop for the ball. He completes the pass because the receiver already had separation. With the right throw these would have been much bigger plays. Runs nice with the ball, like Warrick Dunn or Randel El
I totally agree. I think that both Harbaugh brothers can turn him into something special, so they someday the Ravens/49ers can each get a first round pick from the Bills who will fall for that trade bait.......dude what the hell universe do you live in?
Not really. The reason it's a bad value pick is because they could have gotten a top 10 talent in the first, and still could have picked up Manuel in the 2nd or 3rd.
I'm not talking about each pick being correct. What I meant is they're usually pretty close in regards to whether a player is taken in the first round or not. Of course they're not gonna be correct about every single pick in the draft, and it's stupid to think otherwise.
Spot on? They dont EVEN COME CLOSE. Do you're homework pal as you say. Go back and look at mock drafts in previous years, they aren't even remotely close.
good pick for my bills. versatile QB along with cj spiller, fred jackson in the back field. screen plays are going to be amazing. especially with our new receiving core in Stevie Johnson,tj graham, robert woods, and marquise Goodwin. excited for next year!!! go bills!
Yeah, and those same "experts" said JaMarcus Russell and Tim Tebow would be franchise QB's, and RG3 and Russell Wilson would do nothing as rookies. The "experts" can lick me.
Wow you must be a panther fan to say that cause ej has a very strong arm and very smart and ej he don't like to run he wants to be a passing qb and since he grew up with Bruce smith he's been around the nfl his whole life yet ej and cam will meet week 2
That's funny, because all the "GM's and pro scouts" had a 2nd or 3rd round grade on him. Do you think Kiper and the others just pull all of this info out of their asses? They talk to GM's and scouts around the league, which is why their mock drafts are usually pretty close, if not spot on.
You guys are clearly missing the point. I'm not saying Manuel won't be a solid NFL qb, but the Bills could have gotten a top ten player AND Manuel if they actually knew what they were doing.
It doesnt matter whether hes a first rounder or not, look at russel wilson. Its if he can play and has great upside, it looks like he has both. You dont know where he would go or not. Look at who the bills wasted on their recent first round picks, at some point you need to have the balls to go and grab the guy you want and they did that. Plus they got an extra 2nd round pick
Not sure how I'm avoiding what you said? And let's look at the evidence: Most teams had 3 or 4 qb's rated higher than Manuel, and only one of them was picked before the fourth round! So ya, there's a damn good chance he wouldn't have been taken before the 2nd round.
This is my favorite QB prospect. i was hoping for Cowboys to get him in the 2nd or hopefully 3rd round. But I will support this guy 100% and always be a fan of him. Go EJ!
Why do you and hawksdawgs think I'm only referring to Kiper and McShay? I didn't bring them up, hawks did. They're not the only ones who do mock drafts and evaluate players, there are several others. Anyway, I wasn't saying that their mock drafts were correct in regards to what player went to what team. What I meant was they're usually correct in predicting which players will go in the first round.
Lol, showing the last TD run against UF, when our players basically let him into the end zone. Continued footage even shows the players pointing to the scoreboard, haha.
Accuracy better than Gabbert and Locker coming out of college. In 4 years everyone will know that Manuel should have been the 1st pick in the draft. How you can rate Gabbert, Locker and a few others with a higher draft grade than this kid is amazing. Manuel will put the Bill's back on the map and change the balance of power in the AFC East. He had no talent around him, check out how many RB,WR,TE were drafted from FSU since 2007. JUST ONE.....
They talked to teams around the league after the draft, and the majority of them had a 3rd round grade on him. The "experts" who do the mock drafts aren't always spot on, but they're usually pretty close, and most of them had Manuel in the 3rd.
I think the eagle will get him tomorrow. He'd most likely be good in kelly's offense. He went like 23-6 as a starter and he's throwing to receivers that aren't that good.
What an awful comparison. Cam has MUCH better running ability, a better arm, and actually knows how to lead a receiver. The only similarity they have is size.
I don't hate the player, but I hate the pick in the first. I think they could have got him in the later rounds. Pick value was not there for me. Good Luck though hope he works out.
Lol. Greenmonster. Kiper and mcshay, out of SIXTY FOUR picks in the first round, they COLLECTIVELY had 3 correct in their first round mock. It is impossible to speak about draft classes for at least three years so its all just bogus talk whether its positive or negative.
I love how people keep saying "so and so would have been available in the second", when they have no bleeping idea whether or not some other team would have taken them beforehand . . .
dude look at all the nfl qbs college highlights... almost all their wr are wide open and a most of them transitioned with time into the nfl... the game is a lot faster in the nfl but with time he'll adjust to the game
needs to sit and learn how to go through progressions and how to make better decisions with the ball. extremely talented though and with the right coaching and a solid o-line i think he could be a very good player someday. i like him more than geno smith.
Trickdaddy, he did have good protection often, but when he didn't, he was a good scrambler. Look at how many yards he picked up on yards that were not designed runs.
Besides all newton has is an old slower Steve smith and short bills have much better line more targets and CJ spiller to hand the ball off to who averaged the same yards per carry as Peterson
Just gotta works on hitting the receivers in stride, a lot of those big gainers were made by his WRs but he certainly has potential. Hopefully the Bills breed him to be a successful QB but who know
Well considering every NFL analyst out there says the same thing I did, I wouldn't call it talking out of my ass. But ya go ahead and tell me how I'm wrong Mr. expert.
Just watching these highlights it looks like he has real trouble hitting a receiver in motion... too many of those touchdowns the receiver had to stop to catch the ball.... those are intercepted in the NFL.
I agree that the eagles might take him over Scott..even though to me Scott has a better arm. EJ is almost just like Vick..look at the highlights and how he runs and throws.. Scott is smaller and I don't think he can handle alot of hits in the nfl (you never know).... I like Genome but if we dont take him at 4, EJ is the likely choice unless CK waits till next year..hmmmm who will that b?
