perfect major and minor chords are generally frowned upon because you have to barre 5 or 6 strings, which will eventually cause major harm in your hands. There are a couple of forms that are used in gypsy jazz, plus, most of the improvisors in gypsy jazz use 1,3,5 chords to build their improv from. I am not a master, just my 50 cents. Plus using a 1-3-5 chord is the only 'sure' thing you can play while you have a whole symphonic orchestra playing and filling each other. Great observation though
