When I lost my husband I didn’t do practically any of my hobbies or even things that I did when he was alive. I didn’t even watch the same tv programs. I didn’t cook anymore. It took me a few years. I just needed to do different things to help me with my grief. I cross stitched when I was really young with my mom and she died about 4 years after my husband and we quilted together. Cross stitch helps quell anxiety and you feel accomplished and creative without a lot of mental work. I’m excited to see the content you create and have already subscribed. I also went crazy buying kits and am doing no buy 2024!

Congratulations on your first Flosstube! There is no cross stitch police-you’re not stitching “wrong”. There is two parts to cross stitch-stitching and collecting patterns. Most of us have enough patterns to stitch until we are 200+ years old! 🤣🤣. Can’t wait to see what comes next 🫎

Welcome to the Flosstube community! You both are lovely. I lost my husband suddenly in 2021. I know how you feel. I’m a card maker and now a returning cross stitcher. I love Nichol Spohr and follow her also! She is the reason I picked up cross stitching once again. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects and floss tubes!! Happy Stitching! 😊🪡

Enjoyed your video! Whoever told you that you were cross stitching incorrectly is not telling you the truth. You are correct that making all of your crosses the same is important generally speaking. There are different reasons why people might choose different methods. I’m glad you’re doing something you enjoy!

How nice to see a brand new stitching podcast. I used to cross stitch before kids, and then dropped it because, you know, busy! When I retired in 2017 I felt a bit lost. I rediscovered knitting, and wow, everything is on the tube and web now! So much more accessibility to everything crafty! Last year I slowly got back into cross stitching, mainly with the 2023 Holiday Countdown by Evertote, Roxy Floss Co, and Modern Folk Embroidery. I'm still not stitching as much as I would like, but I am still knitting, crocheting, and this past summer learned to spin. I am also taking a punch needle/rug hooking class this month. The world is my oyster!

Hi there. I loved your first Flosstube! I just got back into cross stitching, as well. I cross stitched MANY years ago and just got back into last Fall. SO MUCH HAS CHANGED!!!! I am totally loving it again! There is no right or wrong way to stitch as long as your stitches go in the same direction. :) Patterns: I also went WAYYYY over board with buying new patterns but how can I help it with so many gorgeous ones to choose from??? LOL! I LOVE your pumpkin and cannot wait to see it finished and also love the witch's hat! I love Halloween! I also loved seeing how you finish your projects! So, welcome! I'm so sorry for your loss! I lost my Mom and Dad 6 months apart in 2022 so I feel your loss!

Welcome Amy and Ally! I just found your channel this morning. I'm also in Phoenix and am so glad to see new Flosstubers from the Valley. Amy, I felt an immediate connection with you- I'm a retired nurse and also lost my husband unexpectedly about a year and a half ago. Cross stitch has been my lifesaver through the grief. Ally, your stitching reminds me of my daughter's. She jumped into cross stitch with both feet like you did, and her stitching is just gorgeous, too! I'm looking forward to seeing more from both of you!

Welcome to FlossTube. I just quickly wanted to say that I don’t believe there is a right or wrong way to cross your stitches as long as you are consistent. I say that because… 1. Yes, I went to your IG page and zoomed in on your pieces to confirm that… 2. I cross my stitches in the same direction. 😂 I also thought I was doing it wrong when I first found Floss Tube and had the added technology of google and youtube tutorials and saw it being done the opposite way. I did try (on a HAED, forcryinoutloud) to “do it right” but kept defaulting to the way I’ve been stitching for 30+ years and made a mess. Love your snowman and look forward to seeing your other wips. Great first video!

I lost my husband of almost 50 years, we were high school sweethearts. For at least a year or so I could not focus on doing much of anything. I am a quilter, crochet, hand embroidery, crazy quilter, long arm, machine embroidery and also like to cook and garden. I started cross stitching in the 1980's. One late night when I could not sleep, I stumbled across Floss tube and it got me interested in pulling out some of my cross stitch and have been cross stitching ever since as well as trying to get back to all the other things that I used to do. Loved your video, I am close to my daughter, but she does not stitch. Good for you.

Congratulations on your new FlossTube! You both are so fun and excited for this adventure. I, too, lost needles until I started using a needle minder. Now just once in awhile. I learned to cross stitch in the 1980’s and got more interested in quilting in the early 2000’s. I got back into cross stitch in 2022 when I broke my ankle and needed surgery and couldn’t use the foot pedal on my sewing machine😁. Talk about a new awakening with the flosses, fabrics and patterns! Wow. I fell into that rabbit hole very quickly. Will look forward to your next video and Amy, have a wonderful vacation!

Congratulations on your 1st Flosstube!!! I’m so glad I got in on the “ground floor,” and I’ll be looking forward to seeing you both again. Yes!! I lose my needles way too frequently. I can’t count the number of times my husband sees me crawling around my stitching chair rubbing my hands across the carpet. Ugh!! Then, a few weeks ago, I was in the high school gym sitting in my portable stitchy chair (he announces the basketball games and I can’t sit in the bleachers that long - too old) - anyway … I dropped my needle. How far can a needle go on a hardwood gymnasium floor?? Answer: About 6 to 8 feet!! I looked all around my chair, in my chair, in my clothes. It was NOWHERE! So I packed everything up in my project bag and gave up. About 15 minutes later, I spied this little anomaly on the floor way out in front of me. Could it be??? Yes! I swear that needle grew legs and ran when it hit the floor!!! Long story longer: I feel your pain. I just hope none of us feel it literally!! Enjoy your stitching! I’ll see you next time! 🎉❤

During covid I tried many different crafts but felt something was missing. Watching Nichol Spohr also inspired me to start back up last summer with cross stitching and I’m amazed how much has changed (I also do my crosses backwards - it’s not wrong, just different😉). I’ve also bought way too many patterns. My only difference is my daughter has not taken it up and has no desire to do so😂😂. Good luck with your flosstube.

Welcome, thank you and your son for your service . I was one of those who stitched years and years ago but got distracted by life. Once I retired I started stitching again and it’s a whole different hobby, the fabrics, flosses, the endless patterns 🥰. No more ducks with blue bows and most of the patterns available to me then were in magazines. Now I have more projects than I have life left for sure. Buying ….no, collecting is a hobby all in its own. On the witches hat you could put beads or sequins on the green stripes without frogging , but it’s cute just the way it is. 👍🏼 You need lots of needle minders and a magnet wand to find dropped needles. 🙋🏼‍♀️

I have enjoyed your flosstube. You get along great as mother/ daughter. I visit Scottsdale often. I have a sister there and have been to the Attic and others, including Scottsdale. God bless you both.

Congratulations on your new venture. I am from Michigan and we have very little snow. I am skipping snowmen and moving on to Valentines. Thanks for the great video.

You can find extendable wands with magnet on the end at Harbor Freight or a car part stores. They are good for “finding” lost needles and pins. Or, pick up a magnet dish from Harbor Freight(less than $5) and run that over floor to find those sharps.

That's an awesome idea! And we have a harbor freight in town too!

Welcome to flosstube! I also live in Arizona. Got a RU-vid suggestion and happy I decided to click play. Looking forward to sharing in your cross stitch adventure. I love cross stitch and like you Amy, I have way too many patterns. The designers with their new Nashville patterns got me good and I went down that rabbit hole.

You two are delightful, hopefully you will decide to record more than once a month. Enjoyed your first video. I too, recently lost a needle that I have not found. I always hope its me that finds it. Never had a daughter so I'm always jealous of the mother daughter thing. I have 2 wonderful sons though. They are very special to me. I''ll be waiting for your next post.

Loved your first Floss Tube! Amy, there are no "stitching police" - so there is no "wrong" way to cross your x's as long as they are consistent. I'm sorry that someone you told you that, but it was wrong. Ally, you are off to such a wonderful start on this amazing stitching journey. I look forward to the next update whether it's both of you or only Ally.

Welcome and what an amazing first video you both are natural on camera. I love that we have an other mother daughter team. There is no wrong stitches, as long as your stitch all go in the same direction. I’ve already subscribed and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

Oh my gosh! I love y’all. Can’t wait to see your next video. On your old patterns, unless you plan to do them, pass them on at a retreat. (It’s freeing)That way you don’t feel obligated to one, that now does not fit your taste. Stanton

I’m excited to follow you both. I took cross stitch back up to survive a divorce after being married 47 years. I also cross stitch backwards. I’m left handed so I use that as an Excuse! I look forward to seeing all your projects!! I can’t believe you live close enough to visit The Attic. It’s my dream to visit there! My number one on my bucket list but I love samplers so it’s right up my alley!! Lol

I appreciate your courage to create a floss tube channel. I too live in Phoenix (north Phoenix specifically) and look forward to viewing and listening to you both. I stitch as much as possible and wish to visit our LNS (The Attic) on a saturday to stitch with others, but have not made the time. I will enjoy watching your videos and stitching along side. Thank you.
