Hi Nitya I. too, live in a small town. On Thursdays, my library has BYOP ( bring your own project). Everyone brings whatever she wants to work on. If someone has a problem, there usually is someone there that can help resolve. I have been going for about 6 years now and have met so many nice sharing people with interest in making something beautiful, Sarah K

Hi Sarah! I love hearing stories like this. Libraries are such wonderful, essential places. Thank you for stopping by! Happy stitching!

That pansy poem is absolutely incredible, Nitya; I’m so honored that you and Maryam are stitching Pansy Bloom as a SAL! The Magical Carpet Menagerie piece is stunning, congrats on the finish 🎉 Stitching part of a full coverage rather than the whole thing?! You blew my mind 🤯 What a great idea! And the tiny stitching is amazing, so cool. I’m so excited that you finally got to start Mermaid’s Folly, I know that’s been kitted up for awhile. I always love the garden update and can’t wait to see how the adventures in dying continue 💜

Oh Sarah, pansy is just a delight to stitch on. Can't wait for even more flowers from your collection. Oh yes, how else will I ever finish a full coverage if I don't cut some apart? I want to do that with some of my remaining old wips too, just stitch parts.

well, that was fun! I love your miniature stitching. I love other people's but when I do 1 over 1 I don't like it. Maybe I need to try sewing thread, cos I really like to see the cross. You have a tonne of new starts and have made so much progress. I know teaching is a hard profession but then you get these luxurious 6 weeks to stitch. Amazing. Thank you for the very public thank you honestly, I had such a good time and it also prompted me to have a really good tidy up. Good luck with the garden. It is so good to hear summer garden talk when we are here in winter. I add lemon sorrel to salads so if you have a sorrel that hasn't bolted, you can try that, but not too much. The lovely thing about nasturtiums is all the volunteer plants. I hope some of the seeds can overwinter in the ground for you. Gardening is so much fun. Anyway, have a lovely week. I am also going to start Maryam's afsham piece. Catherine

Hi Catherine! Oh you would love tiny stitching. I think you've done some already- maybe on those buttons that you made earlier this year? Sewing thread sounds like a good idea. Being on a nine month contract is an odd thing but creates these precious moments, that is for sure. It's some time away from now but curious to hear what's going on in your garden once the spring arrives there. Thanks for tuning in as always. Hope you are getting some lovely stitching time too!

Hi Nitya, Beautiful finishes. Those closely kept patterns look so beautiful. Both are on my list to be stitched. I love your magical carpet menagerie finish 😊 Pins and needles is a great craft group name. You are flying through Afshan Sampler. So many pretty new starts. I almost started that unexpected visitor but I stopped myself. Need to focus on my WIPs a bit. I love that mermaid’s folly pattern but it is huge. Now considering the possibility of smaller versions I’m really tempted Thanks for the garden update. It just makes me happy

Oh Maryam, you would enjoy stitching Closely Kept and you would make quick work of them, too! Afshan Sampler is a joy to see coming together. I'm curious to know what patterns you'd choose for an all black floss! Happy stitching!

Hello Nitya! I love the floss and fabric choice for the Closely Kept series 😍 And I continue to be in LOVE with how you stitched up Myriam's menagerie patterns!! I love that your library started a crafting group. So nice! I'm glad you went 🙂 When I get down to see you I would love to see the yarn/bike shop - great idea of combining 2 passions. I have always thought a Long Dog on a mottled fabric would look amazing in 310. Your tiny stitching is looking fabulous 🤩 It's addicting... I hear you about the eyes. I use magniclips OVER my progressive lenses to magnify 😅 My family thinks its hilarious! I use the hashtags #trytinystitching and #tinystitching . I will be joining you and Myriam in the Pansy SAL! Thank you for sharing that poem - even more inspiring! Oh those darn squirrels! I had a ground hog do the same to my sunflowers the past few years - I felt like Bill Murray in Caddy Shack trying to keep them out of the sunflower garden! I too started planting MANY and put a 2 foot fence around them to protect them. Along with ivory soap, wind spinners, red pepper flakes... LOL! I will look forward to seeing yours grow! Please share! I wonder if you could dye fabric with the leaf you picked ??!! So pretty! Always wonderful to catch up with you 🙂

It was lovely to catch up! So many gorgeous WIPs. I also recently bought a 310 cone, I find it so useful. Some suggestions for 310 stitching- the witchy stitcher and Lola crow cross stitch have patterns that are 310 heavy. Loved loved your garden update too. Makes me want to get out into my garden again. I converted my lawn to plants a few years ago but I went a bit too far (there was no actual space to stand and anyone who needed to enter the garden would have to wear a full suit and gloves to avoid all the spiders and thorns 😂). I’m now re-lawning a few small areas. It was a great experience though and I learned so much about plants. If you haven’t already, there are some good permaculture books by bill mollison that taught me a lot about re-wilding urban spaces and growing our own food.

Hi Maryam! Thanks for watching! I will check out Bill Mollison. I'm reading Noah's Garden right now, which is supposed to be one of the early books on the no lawns movement, I think it was written in the 70s. Interesting stuff! We hope to have just one tiny strip of lawn to walk on but otherwise plant everywhere. It's a work in progress ❤️ Thanks for the DMC 310 recommendations. I'm loving that Lola Crow sal that everyone's doing now, and I'll check out what other patterns they have. Happy winter stitching!

Lots of gorgeous projects! Quaternion Creation has some great patterns that are mostly black with some accent colours or there are always lots of Halloween patterns that are 310 heavy. I can’t wait to get my grubby paws on my own cone. Love the garden talk, I didn’t start any seeds or plant anything this year as I had a newborn/battled voles last year. So I’m letting my perennials do their thing and will be expanding the bed instead. I’m also currently battling a gopher/Richard son’s ground squirrel/some other stubborn rodent in the garden bed anyways. I also love to try and save seeds and replant that way! Though my success rates are fairly low except for marigolds.
@DaybreakStitchery
@DaybreakStitchery Год назад
Hi Michelle! Thank you! Omg voles!!! I wouldn't have a clue on how to battle them. Perennials are just the best. I want to slowly add more and more each year. Seed starting is time consuming but when it works it sure is satisfying! Thanks for tuning in! Happy stitching!

Hi Nitya! I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages, but that’s because I’m several videos behind! 😅 I’m glad you’re enjoying your summer break and getting in lots of time for stitching, gardening, and social adventures. So many amazing projects! I really like how you used the variegated floss on the diagonal for the background of your rainbows, I’ll have to keep that in mind for future use. The Menagerie is incredible in its final form! I can’t wait to stitch the Afshan Sampler, but I’m still trying to work on WIPs instead of new starts, at least until my planned new start for the Friendstitch event that I’m registered for in August. And now I need to stitch something in DMC 820! 😁 Your garden pics make me very happy, I hope you win the battle against the squirrels this year! Take care, have a good July! 🩵

So, so happy to hear from you. Thank you for tuning in, as always 🥰 Happy stitching!
