Nitya, your monthly episodes are something I look forward to so much. I always learn something new. Don’t stress about starting new projects , not FFOing, or sweating colour choices. It’s all for fun and your passion is undeniable and contagious. Happy stitching!

Bonjour Marie! You always leave the sweetest comments, merci beaucoup! You're right, I'm definitely a process stitching more than progress and I so much enjoy the journey! Hope you've been getting some stitching time too! Any winter stitching plans?

@10:45 Shoutout Kina Collins yes! I hope she gets more attention in the media. I feel like people may overlook her in 2024 but she has a real chance to win in that Chicago district.

As soon as you mentioned Jacob’s new pattern I started laughing. He is a true sorcerer and has us all under his spell. I’m resisting this new one since I just started one by him. Nice update on your projects. Love those seasonal patterns in 310. It looks very striking. That tiny start on Bivas sampler is cute 😊 The fabric you chose for Namarie tapestry is gorgeous Thanks for all the activism/ Craftivism talk. It’s important to do what we can as often as we can to make the world a better place. I still have to send you my paragraph about myself for the cross stitch packs. I think we can leave it up to them to decide if they want us to come for a stitching/ designing session with them or if they have someone who knows stitching and they can take over

Bivas will be fun! Oh yes, I need to print out my pages for the cross stitch packs too. Slow and steady, we'll get it done!

Nitya, lovely catching up with you, as always! Thank you for speaking up, encouraging meaningful activism, amplifying voices, and having an important discussion about cultural appropriation. I love seeing you embracing "start what you want when you want" for now. We're the only ones making rules for ourselves when it comes to our hobbies...and we can change these rules when they no longer serve us. I totally relate to the challenge of having out of touch folks make decision for people that do the actual work. It's just as frustrating for us in healthcare. Hearing from the people that do the work (in my case it's bedside nurses and other caregivers) is crucial.

Thanks for the update. I have started Palestinian Patterns a few weeks ago in response to everything. You have inspired me to stitch Handala. I love the idea of donating every time you pick up the piece to stitch. I loved your talk about cultural appropriation, thank you. I have designed more words and letters in the Vote Freebie font and I have toyed with the idea of making a whole alphabet, but have not had the time to get back to it. I too have had a lot of new starts this month.

Thanks for tuning in Allie! Palestinian Patterns has been such a joy to stitch. The motifs are just repetitive enough to make it comfy stitching. Looking forward to a stitchy catchup from you!

Oh my dear friend - I am finally here! LOL! I'm so far behind! This definitely has been a month 😞 Thank you for the knowledge and information to help people realize there is a simple action to make their voices heard - make that call! Handala - I think the fabric may be a piece of Jesse fabric (Mislaid Pages) that Maryam put out for us ??? That little crochet butterfly is so precious!! As the trees were changing, as I was out for my daily walks, I was thinking to myself - Nitya could match the DMC to the tree colors 😄😂😘

I appreciate your thoughtful and passionate approach to the topics you spoke out about. I write my government reps about once a week and it does sometimes feel like I’m yelling into a void, so I also make sure I write the politicians that are advocates as well. Again, always a fan of replacing houses with quotes and the level of research and thought you put into your choice adds nice complexity to the stitching

So many interesting things I learned from watching you today! I haven’t always written to my local members of parliament because I trusted they would just represent us but it’s a really good point you make about people in organisations being out of touch. It’s definitely the case in healthcare with medical admin who are removed from patients and frontline staff. Sometimes I think it is designed that way so that they can make economic designs without having to think about the human cost. It is so heartbreaking to read the news everyday about the horror happening in Palestine. I did not know about that free pattern and the history behind it, I am glad you spoke about it.

Hi Maryam! You're probably right about those leadership decisions made on purpose. My impression of the health care sector is that it's a lot like education- it's a social service but often treated like a business. Hope you've been getting some stitchy time! I think we'll get to hear garden talks from you soon with your spring coming, is that right?

@@DaybreakStitchery I have been gardening more these last few weeks, mostly for stress relief! It’s summer here but we’ve had a lot of rain which has been good for the garden . I am planning to do a garden update soon 🪴 I’ve managed to grow some cucumbers this year!

Thanks for the video. As always I really appreciate that you talk about issues that matter rather than just craft. I worry that craft is a way of keeping people busy, too busy to focus on things that matter, so mixing the two is great. I agree with you regarding marginalised groups and designs. I would include Mexican/day of the dead in that list. The day of the dead is an important celebration for many cultures in Central America and South America. I don’t stitch the work of designers that have appropriated day of the dead. I am over people making money from “interesting” cultures. I also love your idea of donating when you stitch Palestinian work. I need to think about how I will move forward with that. I would like to have something tangible that shows how I feel about the genocide. Keep doing the good work and make sure you also rest. Catherine

You are right about cultural appropriation of Latin American motifs. I see it all the time. I started a pattern that Ale is working on by a Mexican designer and it's beautiful! It feels great to be supporting a new designer, too. I can't wait to see what you come up with for Palestine. You are definitely someone who documents life through stitching!

Thank you for using your platform to amplify Palestinian voices and speak about the genocide they’re facing, it’s so discouraging to see so many other content creators completely ignoring the ethnic cleansing happening as if it’s just “bad vibes” they don’t want to bring to their platforms! Palestinian lives are not any less important because we’re not white people
