Wonderful tutorial as always! (Also I have to smile at the fact that Aileen’s Tacky Glue is still around - I was the kid who woke up early on Saturday mornings to watch craft shows rather than watch cartoons!)

Beautiful finishes! Most of my Mill Hill ornaments are on the antique brown paper, so I use a tan wool felt that is a pretty close match. I use the tacky glue to stick the pieces together. I use a pair of Gingher embroidery scissors with larger holes (that I only use for this purpose). I enjoy trimming the finished ornaments and the matching felt is very forgiving.

I love these. Great way to finish the back. Where do you get the wider tape? The papers give you great variety.
@helend.flosstube
@helend.flosstube 6 месяцев назад
It's sold by Yarn Tree, so sometimes LNS's carry it. I've also found it on 123stitch and Amazon. It can be a little pricey, but lasts a long time. Lori Holt also has a 3/4 inch tape that's less expensive, you would just need to add more strips.
@mmassanyi
@mmassanyi 6 месяцев назад
Have you tried sticking the butterfly on the paper first and then trimming the paper?
@lorelei9393
@lorelei9393 6 месяцев назад
You would need to trim the edge with the hanger first or you would run into trouble trimming that area later because the hanger would be in the way
@helend.flosstube
@helend.flosstube 6 месяцев назад
I tried gluing the hanger on then sticking the bigger piece of paper on and cutting, but once I took the back off the paper it kept sticking to my scissors.

Helen, do you think it would be ok to antique the edges of the oranments?
@helend.flosstube
@helend.flosstube 6 месяцев назад
I'm not sure, I've never done it. I think I would try on a piece of scrap perforated paper first to see how it takes the dye. If it sucks it up too much it might stain your stitches.
