That female wasn't no slouch, but that male was a fine specimen. Great long shot. "Thumbs up" from a fellow Kentucky boy.

I need to come and let you show me some pointers on calling coyotes. Just switched from deer hunting to predator hunting 4 months ago and have only taken 9 coyotes and 19 fox. Coyotes are a lot smarter than people think.

Another great video!! Incredibly beautiful country too. I've been knockin' around the idea of investing in a silencer so I won't have to wear hearing protectors when I hunt. How do they affect POI (as compared to not having one) and accuracy?

Hey Alex. Its a suppressor. It only lowers the decibels. There is no such thing as a silencer. :-) The modern suppressors today actually may increase muzzle velocity just a little bit. They should not affect POI and accuracy. I am not a fan of them because of their expense and licensing. While it may help your ears with the report, the supersonic crack of the bullet will still be heard unless you shoot subsonic rounds and lose muzzle velocity and penetration down range. Its not worth it to me but your mileage may vary.

POI shift depends on a lot of things with both the host and the suppressor . most of it has to do with weight/mass. heavy barrel host + light weight hunting type suppressor = minimal poi shift . light barrel host + heavy do all "full auto rated" suppressor = a lot of poi shift . its not so much the weight pulling down on the barrel but the extra mass of the suppressor affecting the harmonics of the barrel and as a result affecting accuracy as well as poi shift. i have a howa bolt gun in 22-250 with a 22" heavy varmint barrel . with my 11oz silecerco harvester there is very little poi shift or change in accuracy with the 50gr hornady superformance rounds that i use . now when i put on the 22oz rugged surge this changes , not much , but the groups do grow a bit and the poi shifts 1/4" up and left @100 yards on my light weight .223 ruger american ranch it is much more pronounced . with the harvester the poi is 1/2" high and 1/4" left @100 yards and the accuracy is unchanged with a hornady 55gr vmax load . when i put the rugged surge on everything changes . poi is 4" low and 3" left and it goes from nice little 1" groups to 4" patterns @100 yards. when i switch ammo to the nosler 55gr varmagedons ,poi and accuracy shrinks down to what i was shooting with the hornady loads and the harvester on . sorry if i got long winded but its not a simple answer to a seemingly simple question. the investment is more than worth it ! last season my son and i took 2 does ,a buck (small) and a coyote (who tried to snack on one of the does ) in a little over an hour . from the same blind . in between shooting the 2 does we saw another buck and 2 does but they stayed to close to the cattle to make a clean shot.

@@m17glock35 Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it!!

@@m17glock35 Agreed. It depends on the suppressor and barrel but that can be solved with proper fitting and the right loads and I should not have assumed others would already know that. I gave the short answer. I should have said, "if properly fitted and the right loads." lol Not worth it to me. When an animal drops regardless of the sound the rest will spook. They are not stupid. The only way a suppressor would be effective is if they were spread out and came in one at a time out of line of sight of the rest.

@@rbm6184 I will have to disagree with you just a bit. I believe it depends greatly on where you hunt. I have been hunting active farms/ranches with suppressors for over 3 years now. Crows, squirrels, beaver, coyotes , deer ,muskrat and woodchucks using 22lr,.308,300blk,.223,22-250 even 9mm , .45acp and 10mm suppressed. In areas that have a higher level of activity that the wildlife is used to they do stick around a bit. Using a 22lr with subsonics I have had crows, squirrels and beavers go check out their dead buddy ,like they are asking "why the nap?", only to find out why . Year before last we had a string of 5 does come out and hit the 1st and last one with .308's . The middle 3 just stood there until one of the downed does weezed and tried to get back up. If we hadn't all ready had our limit on does we could have each easily gotten 1 more. Now in an area that doesn't have a lot of human activity it could be much different. At this point I don't know . I have been blessed with being able to hunt the "easy" stuff.
