about 20 years ago I learned to fish with long leaders "high sticking" on California steelhead rivers. We didn't have long rods, sighters, tippet rings, etc. but I would use a long butt section of bright green line with just a bit of stick-on indicator puddy at the end to see it better and fish as straight a line as I could to pretty heavy flies bouncing along the bottom. Now I have all these better tools to use but the concept is the same.

Tie the upper fly on a tag and you can change them out easier ... that's what I have been doing.

Tie the bomb directly off the hook shank of the first fly. You will catch more fish.

I see a lot more young anglers hooking the fish and running after them. For God sakes use your rod tip to steer the fish. You all gotta have a $300 reel with a fancy drag and you don't even get to use em!

Painful to watch this otherwise nice video. Seeing trout mauled during the release makes me cringe. Many people can consistently catch fish but not as many can release them gently and with skill. No need to manhandle/squeeze them with dry hands in the air while using two large fingers to remove a hook deep in the mouth. Use. Your. NET. Keep the fish in the water in the net, use forceps to quickly remove the barbless hook. This can be done and you’ll never touch the fish = better for the fish.

Word of improvement, STOP high sticking and lower your rod tip when you connect with them.

fishing with my line out your rod tip defeats the point of euro nymphing.If your gonna do that I would just go back to traditional nymphing.
