Know the feeling Mike! The Neversink will definitely humble you , I’ve only fished the Unique Area and had to work hard for fish ! Good effort and a couple of nice browns! Still a beautiful area to fish! Tight lines

U. A e form westchester? I saw the bear mountain bridge in the intro- I live near West Point, and have a camp at the neversink- it’s very fickle with trout depending on how the seasons go- water has to be ice cold I’ve always found

Yes, I live east of Hudson. Beautiful river. I've only been twice but trout do love that cold current. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the great video Mike. I love the Neversink and it's a tough go at it. At 2:40 you showed us the pheasant tail but prior you said you started with an Iso. Still learning the lingo but the Iso and PT are different...or is the PT considered an Iso? Thanks again. Patrick

Thanks so much, Patrick! Neversink is certainly beautiful. The PT is a nymph (under the surface) that can imitate many bugs and can definitely pass for an Isonychia (Iso) nymph. That said, before that, I fished an Iso dry fly on top with no success though they are on the Catskill streams this time of year and I've done well with them in the past. Thanks for watching!

That’s a full day on the water. Want to get to the Neversink R. Looks like you had decent access. Did you need to request permission from any landowners? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for checking it out. I did find parking without needing permission in each area I fished. I used DIY Fishing app. Check it out. It's free and helpful. Tight lines and sunk flies!

Hello from the PNW (WA. State). Just found Your New F.F. Vlog and being originally from Long Island, N.Y. I was harkened back to my Early Times in F.F.back by You. Long Time F.F.'er (I'm 70). If I may make a couple suggestions without coming across as a "know-it-all," I found it unimaginable that the "old Neversink" didn't produce Better for You. I have NO IDEA what's occurred on those Famous Rivers in that area !?. But, "judging," if I may, just from what you SHOWED, 2 things - 1st, on your dry dropper that you showed prior to fishing . . . shorten up the distance from dry to dropper fly ! It Looked like yours was about 3 feet? TOO Long ! Difficult, especially in those slower currents, to Keep the Slack out from the 2 flies. Gonna miss short strikes or "nibbles" of any kind. 18" is more than enough - the fish don't care if the flies are close ! Gives them a better chance to SEE the little dropper as they come up to Inspect the Big Dry. 2nd, again just from what you SHOWED, it appeared you Went right out to fish the FAR Side. I guarantee you that you probably had many missed opportunities much closer to where you first walked in !?. Been there, done that a few times then wised up. Now I'm gonna go check out the other few videos you've posted . . . ah the memories . . . thanks and good Fishing / keep them wet & IN the Net. Net releases are best on the fish.

Hello and thanks for tuning in. I appreciate the feedback on the dropper and will definitely adjust! I did fish from the bank out and, you're correct, I just didn't show all of that. The river still fishes well but that day and time of year were not super ideal to be honest. The best time to fish is when you can! Thanks for checking out the channel and glad it brought you back "home" 😀
